lepr reacted to Wosven in Affinity Publisher - Sneak Preview
I'd rather have a Beta later in september and spent those sunny days lazying and sunbathing — at least a few minutes before I find it too hot and go reading or doing something other in a cooler place — than playing around on my computer testing APublisher!

lepr reacted to R C-R in Put object inside text
I think @owenr is 100% right: there is a bug in how clipping is implemented when text is the parent object that is not present when other objects types are the parent.

Apologies. I was trying to copy part of your message from one message to another on a tablet. I thought I had copied the entire sentence, but later discovered the end was missing. Rather than back-track many steps, I guessed, and guessed wrong!

First time posting here! I've been using AD for almost a year, and it's now my go-to for pretty much all of my graphic work.
Here's a piece I recently whipped up that's part of a sci-fi series I'm working on. Obviously, it's inspired by old propaganda posters. That, and a heavy dose of Ray Bradbury.

lepr reacted to BeardLAM in Fine tuning hue of selected color range
Hi all, and Serif's moderator MEB.
Firstly I'd like to reiterate the need for selective colour control w/fine tuning capabilities.
Secondly, my suggestion is further to PS's capability in this sphere, namely: the tools to mask a selective range (eg the yellows/oranges of sunflowers) using a colour picker & range slider (to widen or narrow the colour mask's selection range); and, thereafter, fine tune (say) yellows etc by affecting their complimentary colours (eg blues etc), via desaturation of the highlights&midtones - but only within the selected colour range mask - using (crucially) curves, as well as optional sliders, to effect this example of full tonal control.
The mask allows other yellows/oranges in the photo to be masked/brushed out, and so left unaffected by the adjustments.
I should note I've been taught how to do this on PS, and have been looking to achieve the same with A4iPad - which lead me to this feature request.
kindest regards... M

lepr reacted to firstdefence in Where are the files located?
One of the first things I do when I install Windows on a system is unhide hidden folders.
There really should be shortcuts to the locations of these files in Prefs, this is a Pro app and Pro's NEED to tinker and tweak or just be curious.
There needs to be a serious overhaul and better management of assets like styles, fonts, symbols and brushes, with tag systems and grouping and removing the annoying category creation and not being able to rename it immediately without having to go back into the burger menu.

I like all that....
Just sorely (and oddly I might add) missing an antialiasing tick box .

lepr reacted to vovkasolovev in [Suggetion] Grid Vector Brush Tool
Affinity Designer have a really great grid tool. But there is no tool to work with grid directly.
I suggest Grid Vector Brush Tool. It will create vector shapes by grid cells shape and connect shapes together. It will have option to unite new object with same object we paint before, it will have option to subtract underlying objects we paint before with another color.
This tool will help you to draw easily isometric art and vector "pixel art". It will be more straightforward to use with grid than Vector Pen tool. It can become more understandable for beginners, and time-saver for pixel-artists.

The zoom-setting is for the photo itself, not for the preview inside the navigator :-p

Flood Select Tool needs antialiasing please.
Selection Brush Tool could use it too, as an initial option.
Thank you

lepr reacted to Mithferion in Actual mac Affinity Designer & Photo versions
@MEB
I agree to a certain point. Let me explain myself: Even if you can perform the same project on any Platform between macOS and Windows, it'd be a welcome added extra for some users. I believe that's the only thing we want to say. I'm confident we are not being pedantic, just making clear some differences between platforms.
For example, the Separated Mode is something I don't miss, but I remember a user asking for that little thing. So, all the features are there, but differences in usability are still present (and correct me if I'm wrong, but the macOS RAW Engine is another difference between platforms that might be relevant).
Best regards!

lepr reacted to R C-R in Actual mac Affinity Designer & Photo versions
Which I believe my "mostly due to differences in what each OS supports" phrase made reasonably clear.
I am not so sure they are not worth mentioning or insignificant, particularly when someone asks which features might be different. As I am sure you know, there have been several posts from Windows users asking where the Media Browser is on their app, confusion about the separated Window mode or support for Studio panels in columns, & so on.
They may just be UI differences that do not affect cross platform file editing, but from a user perspective I feel they may still be significant & therefore worth mentioning ... & so I did.
