  1. I was interpreting the colour state for the aspect icon, assuming it was the grey colour that meant active, but can now see that other icons are active when black. Maybe if the chain link being shown on the icon was split for not showing locked it would be more obvious.
  2. Using the resize canvas option in Photo (2.2 and earlier versions) the lock aspect in the top bar is applied to the canvas when not selected, with the opposite when selected (only moves one of the slider values). I'm assuming aspect lock should be applied when the icon is selected. Resize on Designer does the same in that the aspect is only maintained when the lock is off.
  3. Thanks for the comprehensive response, if I'm feeling up for a challenge I will see if I can get my head round everything I would need to do. I've never managed to work out the C# language as much as others.
  4. [Current version 0.31] Update: 29-06-23 Added option to detect left mouse button being pressed and released, shortcut from list can be selected to be sent when triggered. Can be used to send clean brush command when using mixer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have created a PC (Windows) app with the Affinity suite in mind but will work with any windowed application that accepts keyboard shortcuts. It uses text files to stores sequences of shortcuts that are actioned by clicking their respective button in the app. There is no limit to the number of shortcuts, the text files can be switched between as required. Each button is defined with a description and the sequence, keyboard modifiers that are accepted are: Ctrl Alt Shift Up Down Left Right The first line of the text file configures the target window, the position and size of the buttons along with a couple of other option as follows: Target window name - This can match any part of the window title for the application you want to send the key sequence to. Button horizontal size Button vertical size Start position from the left for first button Start position from the top for first button Distance between adjacent buttons horizontally Distance between adjacent buttons vertically Number of buttons in a row horizontally - will create new row automatically when exceeded Time in milliseconds for target window to be active before key sequence sent Is the application on top of other windows, 1 for yes, 0 for no Clicking on a dark blue button at the end of the named buttons will show a dialog to configure its setting by adding the description and key sequence. Saving the new button details will reload the list. The individual text files can be viewed/edited in the app by clicking the "CONFIGURATION FILE" text, saving will again reload the buttons, this will also apply any changes made to the first configuration line. If the text on the buttons are "greyed out" it means the target window has not been detected. The app will briefly flash green when switching between the text files to show the window has been detected. All feedback is welcome. For anyone concerned running the .exe file here is the clean report from VirusTotal, I do appreciate there is still a level of trust to be gained however and happy to answer any questions. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/baf444a32c8d73abf451ce48c8397c95bcd64617fbb73ddd6c22ae2e3bd6aa51 The app is written in VB.Net (Visual Basic), if anyone knows if this can run natively or with modifications/helpers on Mac hardware let me know. The included text file in the zip is named for Affinity Photo, you can just rename and modify as needed or alternatively create one for each app you want to send key sequences to. KeySender.zip
  5. Using IPad designer V2.0.1.2 I needed to delete a set of objects, when an object is deleted the layers jumps to the next. Randomly when carrying out a delete sequence the app crashes back to main iPad display. The file the changes were carried out on reverts to its last saved state. This was happening so frequently I resorted to exiting the app every couple of delete steps so that I would make progress. I have managed to record a sequence where it happens repeatedly if I step back through the history on the same file. Stuart Pearson FullSizeRender.MOV
  6. Everyday is a learning experience!! Didn't realise there was other tools I wasn't seeing either, not convinced though about the scroll. I would be happier having all the icons visible even if they were grouped together.
  7. Thought I was going mad trying to find the rectangle tool I'm used to from Photo V1, I even searched the help and it showed it existed. Then I tried using my iPad in portrait mode and it was visible. Using my iPad (2017 9.7 inch model) in landscape mode the rectangle tool icon is being cut in. I'm sure this will be one of the easier fixes!! Stuart
  8. Thanks for the info, I was misunderstanding the patch function, I have just read the inbuilt help on it and it confirms the blending. Explains other occasions why it hasn’t behaved how I expected it to
  9. I was under the impression that the patch tool with blend set at normal should just be effectively copying the pixels from the source so should be an exact copy. I don’t see where an algorithm would be involved.
  10. When using the patch tool, when the selection is moved there appears to be a blend applied to the displayed image, it is even more noticeable if you use the tool at the edge of an image. I would have expected the patched area to have exactly the same content as the copied area Stuart FullSizeRender.mov
  11. Although it doesn’t help the folders issue you might be interested in the FileBrowser app for IOS. It’s integration provides a “share with apps” folder/subfolder. I initially export my image to the share folder then using the FileBrowser I can copy/move the file anywhere including my Synology NAS. It also supports FTP, iCloud, OneDrive etc.
  12. I am trying to use Affinity Photo to manage all my current photo tasks but even using folders it is not straightforward. Ideally the ability to create/move an existing top level folder as a subfolder would improve the management. Having subfolders of subfolders would be even better. Stuart
  13. I am trying to clone a section of a photograph to remove an unwanted area but the clone area is not an accurate representation of the source part. Image 1 is the subsection of a larger image where I am trying to clone the dark area at the far right hand side, image 2 is an iPad screenshot showing the effect of using clone which to me is in no way accurate. Have others experienced this issue? Stuart
  14. Thanks, That's a great method of "cropping" the placed image, probably would be beneficial to others if this was added to the crop tutorial. I'm not aware of a reference to this on any of the existing tutorials. Stuart
  15. If I place an image on to an existing pixel background, I can moved the new added image around and resize it. However if I try to crop the placed image the full background is selected, this happens even if the background is deselected. Is this the expected behaviour for a placed image, that it cannot be separately cropped?
  16. Is there a quick way to blur/dither the outer edges of a selection? Consider am image where I have used a selection tool around the element, I want to blur/dither or remove if required a couple of pixels width all the way around the selection to smooth its appearance. So far using smart selection shape tool and the refine option I still have 'jaggy' edges. If I had a way to remove pixels all the way round it would improve the finished image. Open to suggestions on how this can achieved.
