    Hey guys,
I thought I'd post a few of my paintings after using Affinity on my new iPad with the Apple Pencil.
Im loving this app for painting on weekends as I use Photoshop on a daily basis for my work as a concept artist/matte painter for film and TV.
Im still getting the hang of it but it's fun.

I’m in the film and TV industry and alpha channels TGA and TIFF are a huge part of the 2D and 3D workflow. PNG transparency just don’t cut it. It would fantastic to see this as an option in AP. Quite a few people have mentioned this in my industry and have chosen to stay with PS. It would be great to give them no reason not to use AP.

    Hi,
I attached a link to a YouTube link that demonstrates how the liquify push tool starts to tear the image and distort in the wrong place.
In the video I’ve shown how using the AP push tool in one area doesn’t have the desired effect. Then how Procreates liquify push tool response as it should by smoothly pushing the pixels not swirling them after a number of strokes.
I made the spacing in the mesh smaller to allow it to be more accurate. I’ve tried this with the larger spacing as well and it made no difference.
Leaving the liquify push tool as it is only adds limitations to a workflow. Please consider fixing this.

Sorry, Andy. Seems I left this unanswered.
I never use Liquify (for digital painting), and in my many years with PS, it was rare the times I'd do that at any company. I typically prefer to fully re-paint, and in some cases , I just move a selection with feather and paint over so much later that the moved part acts only as a reference puzzle piece, moving of my own sketch parts to experiment fast composition (but only do this some times, depends on even my own mood), or even over a more elaborated painting, just to paint over it fully. The smeared look, even for some minutes till I repaint, puts me down, dunno why. ( I did  not like smearing (ie, with a piece of cloth) oil colors back in the day, and seeing someone in the class doing that even with the naked finger even would make me nervous, lol... )
I recon PS has these several liquify tools, the push (with fade-in-out of strength, of course) would perform like your example in Procreate (srry,  I don't have an iPad, so neither Procreate, mostly money and priorities about it  , great device, would love to, but regular bills, desktop hardware and software licenses get in the middle ;D  ) . In any case, the few times I'd use Liquify in PS, I'd never pull so long pixels distance, only slight corrections (but again, even there, I hate so much the digital effect of this, that I paint over so much later that am sure it wouldn't save me time), so I wouldn't notice the benefit if painting using the feature. I can totally see how if making long pulls in your workflow can have a big issue here. And I have read posts and seen videos from a good number of illustrators that use this feature almost more than breathing. (ie, for me is disrupting the color picker problem, as I'm all time doing that as I paint). Part of my problem is that I paint a lot like I learnt to paint (traditional painting) : I wouldn't liquify with oils, not really possible in a clean way for realistic style... :D   . I modified other habits, but never could get really used to that.
That said, for game textures, YEAH, I used that a lot in PS, heck, that was really useful. I dunno others, but I do textures using every bit of advanced functionality in a package, to work the fastest possible, is very different than when I do digital painting. (yep, I know... texturing stuff warcraft style (or any modern title with these aesthetics) is painterly textures, hehehe... been there)
It is an important feature for many. (but as you asked me, nope, no problem for me, due to my very rare workflow )

Assuming you posted the problems you found on the iPad bugs page, the developers are very good at picking up such issues, with some known issues with IOS12 still to be resolved I’d think an update may well be due by the autumn when IOS12 is on general release.

... got a reaction from wgphoto in Levels and FX
The image attach of Photoshops levels control window has the extra sliders at the bottom to adjust the output levels. This is a great option to have to do a final adjustment. If AP added this it would translate the levels adjustment layer across from PS to AP correctly.
Theres a lot of fixing files coming from PS over to AP. With these extra controls there would be a lot of time saved.

In the second image is photoshops gradient layer FX window.
It would be great to have the control to delete colour and transparency nodes and/or adjust their opacity.
This can be done in PS when their is only 2 nodes. You’re able to delete the colour section of the node, leaving just the transparency node. Then if you want you can delete that leaving only 1 node in the gradient bar, that last node can be used as a simple fill.
Having the option to do this is good for adding a colour to an area and not effecting the rest of the image.
This would also help translate the PSD file across without any further adjustments.

    Hello,
I have some issues with affinity I wanted to draw small details (mostly points) on a drawing without changing my brush size(with pressure enabled )  and ended up with max size points
Is an hidden option somewhere where I can disable this "Oversized points"'s stuff ?
    here an example :

    thanks !

For the avoidance of doubt, none of the above is my work! The text of the links is simply the topic titles chosen by the artists who created those threads, so '#affinityphotoillustration' is @Henry Stahle's hashtag on Instagram, and 'mine' in the other link refers to the artist @Andych56.

I love Affinity, I respect all the work you guys do, and I understand you have your marketing strategy and agenda to follow, but there are things that really puzzle me.
I have personally been posting in the latest beta thread several times about the highlights issue before I got a sign of feedback. On a separate thread, I asked for a possible feature to add. I wouldn't expect a promise, not even an estimation, just a feedback would be enough. Nothing.

I'm not sure anymore whether the strategy is to attract a wide audience or a niche. But then again, can't be the niche, because almost every peculiar requests from advanced users have been rejected (I don't want to go back and search for all the related threads, I'm sure who's been part of those requests knows what I'm talking about).

With the communication here on the forum and the struggling performance of the products, I decided to give up with the forum and take a break from the Affinity products. I haven't been posting anything for a while now and the feeling is great. I finally don't have to hold my breath expecting anything. Because loving a product, spending time testing it, trying to contribute to the forum and then seeing there's no response, doesn't feel good, and I realize perhaps there's too much attachment from my side, considered after all this is software we're talking about (although is not only that, but of course also the spirit behind it).

I hoped Affinity was the revolution I long awaited for. I would easily pay more for the product if it could fit my needs. Is not there yet (which is understandable) but also I don't see signs of keeping up with the premises. And this forum doesn't work either. It works if you are a newbie, then you receive prompt feedback, but if the requests go a step further than it gets stuck. Again, your resources are limited, I get that. What is really hard to understand is why you would create a product which such a potential and focus on a mass audience which actually needs a fraction of what you are trying to squeeze into your products. How many will develop 3D-32 EXR passes? So, why is it even there if you can't dedicate time to address issues because other basic problems come first? How many here are using the scope vector? Perhaps nobody.
Yes, there are other bugs and priorities that come first, more essential and basic things to get running before moving onto more advanced issues. So, why bother putting advanced features in the first place? I'm sure I can speak for some of us when I say I personally felt Affinity was going to be the answer we wanted when I saw those features being part of the package. Those features are what made me embrace it. But since you don't have any interest nor resources at the moment to focus on the hi-end side of the product, and considered posting on this forum can feel like hitting a wall, then I can give up altogether and hope someday you'll get there. It's been nice while it lasted, now it is time to move on.

    Best of luck.
    Andrew

If possible it would be great to use other pens that are available on the market. I’m sure there’s quite a few users that prefer the feel of a Wacom pen rather than being tied down to the Apple Pencil.
I work on a Wacom Cintiq all day long in AP (desktop) and I much prefer the feel and performance of the Wacom pens.
Other apps (Procreate) work great with a Wacom and can really enhance the drawing experience.
Hopefully this might stop the accidental splats of colour that occurs when you tap lightly while painting.
Its very frustrating when painting quickly. This only seems to happen in AP iPad. Other apps are fine.

Oh and please throw in the ability to do Alpha channels 16bit tiffs or tga.

I originally did this in Illustrator but it was missing something and needed more work so spent the last few days redoing it in AD although I did use the main underlying shapes, seemed pointless doing those again. It's a good improvement on the original. Being so long and thin it loses a lot of detail at low res even on the close up though.

    Hi,
Does anyone know if Affinity will have the support for the Wacom Bamboo Sketch stylus on the ipad in the near future?
I'm currently using the apple pencil but it feels like I'm scratching on wood with it. There's only a handful of apps that support the Bamboo Sketch I was hoping Affinity would soon have the support as well.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree, is it Wacom I should be approaching for this?

    Hi All,

We’re getting ready to launch the version 1.6 updates of Affinity Photo and Designer and we need your help!

To support all the marketing we do – web pages, videos, social media posts or in-app samples – it’s great to have photos and artwork which our users have created to show off the capability of our apps. So, we wanted to reach out to you to ask if you have any fantastic work you would be happy for us to use in this way.

In addition to forming part of the publicity campaign to promote the possibilities of our apps to new users, you’ll receive a fee of US$300 to license each piece we use.

For our Affinity Photo marketing we mostly need incredible photos of any subject matter - landscapes, model shots, nature, architecture, weddings, sports, automotive, etc. Also any work which utilises focus stacking, HDR, panorama stitching, 360 images or full multi-layered compositions would be great too.

For Affinity Designer we need any work created in the app – illustrations, web / app mock ups, icons, logos, print projects, paintings, etc.

To get an idea of what we have used before, check out our website (affinity.serif.com) or the latest product videos:

    AFFINITY PHOTO VIDEO
    AFFINITY DESIGNER VIDEO

If you have created anything you think might be suitable, and as long as you are the copyright owner and hold all the rights to license the work to us, then please get in touch. You can send your photos or designs to consider to affinityart@serif.com.

A flattened PNG or JPG (or a link if you have a gallery on Behance, etc.) is fine at this stage, though if you’re successful we’ll ultimately need the full res image or Affinity file. Please keep your initial submission down to a maximum of five files but by all means let us know if have more. The closing date for submissions is 25th August 2017.

If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to ask us on affinityart@serif.com.

We look forward to checking out your work!

    Thanks,
    Ash
