Hi. New to AD IOS (and to any vector app) and can’t figure out how to merge x3 pixel layers. Can someone help please?

Could someone please tell me, step by step, how the feather selection tool works because whatever I am doing is not getting the job done. I am selecting a simple rectangle filled with colour and then tapping on the feather selection tool which produces a dialogue box, into which I type the number 10 - feather the edge 10 pixels. But nought happens. many thanks in advance.

Ok, thank you for putting in the time. I can’t imagine what I might be doing. The app self-closed 3 times within five minutes this afternoon and I wasn’t actually doing anything.

Ok. Thanks for your response. Untitled_2.psd

I increased the number of history saves from 8 to 20 and the crashes have resumed.

Since reducing the UNDO limit to its minimum I have had not a single crash.

Chris B. Regarding you suggestion that there may also be something in my process which is causing crashes. I use Procreate quite a lot and am used to zooming in and out with great rapidity. I think this caused a crash in AP this evening. I’m looking in the IP logs - not that I’ve a clue what I’m looking for aside from, hopefully, the word Crash and some reference to AP. Will keep you posted.

I took this advice and turned the History to the minimum of 8. The frequency of crashes has been greatly reduced.

Hi. Thank you for replying. I will do as you suggest and get back to you as and when. I usually work with a dpi of 240 if the image is shot as a RAW file; or 300 if a jpeg. Also, I tried turning the number of history steps right down to its minimum - in response to a suggestion I read elsewhere in the forum. The app hasnt crashed since I did that.

Hi. I work on JPEG files, generally 4000x6000 pixels, using up to 3 or 4 layers usually. After posting the above information I opened up the app again. After 10 minutes it self-closed. I had x2 layers. Fifteen minutes later I tried to Save with the return to gallery button. The app crashed, all work lost-as is usual. Another ten minutes and the app self-closed again. Regarding the quick reinstall. I reinstalled the app after the last IOS update and it crashed after six minutes.

[Duplicate] App crashing
Neshiah474 posted a topic in Resolved (subforum for when bugs get resolved)
The 1.6.7 update has made no difference to the spontaneous crashing/closing of app. It seems to happen whenever. App crashes upon Save/return to gallery button too. I use very few layers, 4 would be a lot. iPad Pro 1st gen, 15gb free memory AP 1.6.7 -

AffinityPhoto began crashing a very short time after purchase, July 2017, and and hasn’t stopped. After the last IOS update I reinstalled AP. Opened the app about six minutes ago. It crashed. Seriously, Serif? IPad Pro, 1st gen. 20gb free memory. AP 1.6.7..
