I wouldn't have thought you could edit a PDF in AP? Don’t you need to do it in a PDF Editor? Interesting. But I’m m also interested in Kearning in AP. -
Well yes and no. The one thing you’ve got on your side is that you know what you wanted to do from the outset of this project. Much of the time photos are taken and then, as an afterthought it is sent to a software graphic editor to improve or get more from the photo. And yes, mostly this can/may be achievable. As you say, you wish to extricate the figure from its surrounding impedimenta - yes?. There are several things working against you. As has been said the lighting is the key and primary factor here, however there is another which hasn’t been mention - the angle the shot was taken at. As you wished for the dancing figure to be isolated, I would have taken the initial “takes” on-axis or straight-on. The angle here is creating so many more shadow overlaps that this is unfortunately creating many more challenges that I’d have a problem to solve. But there is a greater and bigger opportunity you could easily experiment with - a blue screen background. Choosing an alternative to the white card does several things. 1: It will help to prevent any reflected colour from the target, which your white card won’t. 2: Blue would be a much better “key” for Keying-out than the White card or a green card. A green screen background is far too near to the object’s brassy-greenish hue. This is a great project. And as I said, you know what you are wanting. That’s definitely a bonus. The other thing is that you can control the environment. With a little application you should win! So, to recap, for me it’s, lighting, shot angle and an easier, key-able background.

Photo questions

I’d look at the white balance prior to blending. The Forest is kinda warm green, whilst the character is more cool blue. I’d be getting the character closer to the scenery. -
You've missed out a Matte Box. Are you after the etymology of the word? - As far as I can see/read it comes form the feminine French derivation meaning "Curds" - go figure? A matte box allows me to ADDED a full frame effect to the front of a lens. For me it can be a pola, a ND Solid or Grad or a complex stack of filters.

“Forever” is a long time in business. And is even longer in the ephemeral, quixotic and transitory world of software development. But, there again, SERIF have been bold enough to shake up the arthritic lumbering and waddling juggernauts of the existing Editors which has forced hands to rethink subscription-based purchases and recognised a burgeoning need to provide a more “street” price. From my experience, any company of anything will charge what it wants, when it wants and how it wants. The only intelligent response to your questions will come from SERIF themselves. And as this information is so fundamentally crucial to their own business health, I wouldn’t wait for a reply from them. But they have blown apart the subscription model. And again, in my experience, the s/w houses I have done and do deal with try and determine that a new release if big enough of a leap forward to demand an increase in price will do. However, not all play by these “rules” . Oh yeah, keep asking your questions, as this genie ain’t going back in the bottle any time soon. -
iPad Version

Serif have sold me an iPad and a Windows version for less than a single COREL PSP upgrade! Oh yeah, there ain’t an iOS version of PSP. Serif, keep on developing. Your whole approach to the Photo Application, charging and developmental philosophy, has made the old guard wibble and wobble !
