  1. On the page with the graphic of a wrench and car and text underneath. That is the issue image. That is the item that came from Designer. The same image is on the other page. All other elements are OK. Make sense? BTW, there are three pages - just check the image with the "wrench and car and the text below". James
  2. Not a problem. See Attached. Let me know what you find. I've also attached the Design file as well. Exporting a PDF from Design is OK. It's when it's exported to a PDF from Publisher. I sent you the Design file and the Publisher file. James Logo_1.afdesign Vince PostCard 2A.pdf
  3. Thanks - Actually I thought that was the issue but I did have it set for CMYK. Here is another interesting item. I saved the same file as an EPS from Designer then imported it into InDesign CS5. Same thing when I export the InDesign file to Acrobat and check separations, the black still shows as a CMYK build. This is very weird. No clue why creating a PDF out of Affinity Design works just fine but out of Affinity Publisher or InDesign, the file gets converted to a four color black build. I'm stumped on this one. Thanks again James
  4. In the context tool bar, it does show the vector file to be 100% black. If you double click on the vector image, in Publisher, it opens to it's art board. All the elements and text show as 100% black not a CMYK build. If I export the Designer file to a PDF, it works just fine meaning if I create a PDF Acrobat sees the file as 100% black. It's only when I import the designer file into Publisher and then export the Publisher file to a PDF that the Designer file is then converted to a process color build not the 100% black it was in Publisher. I hope this makes sense. When converting the file to a PDF publisher is doing something to the Design file. James
  5. I imported a Affinity Design file which contain an image and text that was only 100% black into Publisher Beta (latest). Color format was CMYK. Other elements in the Publisher file were CMYK and contained 100% black as well. When I exported the Publisher file to a PDF the Designer file, which was 100% black now became a CMYK black. Why is this happening?? I've experienced this before as well. Any ideas?? James
  6. I did download Designer best 1.7 (I'm also testing Publisher beta). I still got the same results with the EPS file you sent me. I have attached a screen shot so you can see how the file either opens or places. Also, where 100% black solids are designer "sees" them as 400% black. You can see in the attached images how some things are missing when you compare to the original EPS image I sent you yesterday. Let me know what you think and thanks! Jim K
  7. I'm running version 1.6.1. I didn't know there was an update to 1.7. I down loaded your file but some of the inner targets are missing such as 1x1 checker spot size verification. If there is an update to 1.7, the Apple App Store has not updated me. Thanks Jim K
  8. Attached is one of the EPS files that locks up Affinity Designer but loads in Illustrator CS5 just fine.Let me know what you think. Jim K VS1P07U.EPS
  9. I'm trying to place some EPS files that are used as control targets for Offset Printing. When I try to place them the import window pops up and all I get is the "spinning beach ball" (I'm on a Mac). Not all EPS files do this but these control targets do. Any ideas on this one?? Thanks Jim K
  10. V_kyr - thanks for all your help but I solved the issue. Usually when you give a PDF off to a printer (offset or digital) they will add their own profile. What I needed to do was not use a preset (I’ll create my own) and uncheck to “embed profile”. I also unchecked honor spot colors (since I had none) and over print black as I wanted black type at 100% so it would knock out underneath. That work perfectly. If you are handing off the Affinity Designer file (or any Affinity file or folder (Publisher) you can leave a profile. The printer then can change or use the one you selected. I.e. Uncoated sheetfed, etc. Anyway, problem solved. I was just use to using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and in the very early days Pagemaker and Quark!!! Thanks again. James
  11. V_kyr - thanks for your reply. I do understand the difference between True black and Rich black. In my case I did set the type to 100% black, C, M, Y at 0%. When I bring the PDF file into Acrobat and check separations - only when the profile is set to Generic CMYK does it show the black at 100%, and CMY at 0%. If I change the profile to, for example, Web coated black is a combination of CMYK. Illustrator does not do that. I’m trying to understand why the values are changing. I know the printer will apply their own profile. James
  12. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I create a document in CYMK. I want the type to be 100% black (not a 4-color build). I also do the same for any drop shadows. Now to hand off the project to my printer as a PDF (for print). Unfortunately when I bring the PDF into Acrobat and check separations the type and drop shadows are now a 4-color build not the 100% black I made it. Either I am doing something wrong or there is a bug in Designer. Any ideas on this one?
  13. It turns out the the specialized EPS file I am using is converting everything to CMYK. I have provided that file to the engineers at Serif. Once I deleted the EPS file everything worked fine. The EPS file is a specialized digital printing target. It’s only 4.5 megs but takes forever to place in Publisher and Designer. It’s a very weird file. However, that being said the file works without any issues with InDesign but has issues with Illustrator. Thanks for your help! Sky
  14. I have created several blocks in a form: Some as 100% black, some are 100% Cyan and the same for Magenta and Yellow. In the form are some 4-color images as well. The color profile is set for CMYK for high end digital printing. When I create a PDF all the 100% items are converted to CMYK!! What?? So my black, for example, is now a 100% build of CMYK. How the heck do I create PDF's and keep items that are 100% at 100% in the PDF and a 4-color build?? James
  15. Yes, I checked and I am set that way - Click or tap with two fingers. Thats why I'm puzzled. Skyking
  16. Hi Chris, I’m using both a trackpad (iMac) and a tablet but the right menu was occurring with the trackpad. I’ll have to check in system prefs and see what may be going on. Usually with the Mac trackpad two fingers activates the right click menu. I was only using one finger. Thanks for your help! Skyking
  17. I've just noticed with images - When importing an image sometimes when I click on an image, say to duplicate or move it, I keep getting the right click menu. I keeping clicking on the image and I keep getting the right click menu, even though I'm not use a right click. Second issue - I'll have, say, 6 images on a page. I want to move them all so I will select one and hold down the shift key to select the others but I might be able to select one other but have trouble selecting all the others. The select keeps moving around. Skyking
  18. JFisher - Attached is the EPS file that won't work and hangs up not only Publisher Beta but Affinity Designer as well. I have not tried it in Affinity Photo. Please keep this file to yourself as it is a proprietary files used for digital press testing. Thanks. Let me know what you get. Skyking! [EDIT] File removed. [/EDIT]
  19. There must be something weird with this file. But, it imports into InDesign just fine. I have tried some other EPS images and they imported OK. So, no clue on this one. James
  20. I tried importing an EPS image on a blank page in Publisher. When I get the file all I get is a spinning beach ball. I let it go for a while but eventually I have to Force Quit the app. I even moved the file to another drive with the same hang up. I tied importing the EPS in Affinity Designer with the same effect. Locks up Designer and I have to force quit. Ironically I can import the EPS image into Pages just fine!! If you want to check the EPS image let me know. James K
  21. I was able to resolve the issue. Turns out, for some wierd reason, I had the tablet plugged into a USB 3.0 7 station hub. When I plugged it into my iMac keyboard the tablet worked great with Affinity Photo, Designer and the beta of Publisher. The keyboard is a USB 2.0 keyboard. Not sure why this worked but it did. Issue resolved plus the tablet is a great tablet. James
  22. Callum - Attached is a short saved screen showing part of the issue. You will see when I tried to adjust levels notice when how the sliders work with the tablet pen. This time Affinity Photo did not jump the image when I tried to activate a menu item. Usually it does. No clue what not this time. The sliders are by far the bigger issue. Once you watch the video let me know what you think. BTW, the same happens when I work in Affinity Designer or Publisher. Thanks!! James Affinity Issue.mov
  23. Yes, I just downloaded the lastest beta and it is still doing it. I am also having the same issues with Affinity Photo and Designer. The issue is occurring with all three products. I had to change tablets with Mac OS 10.14 as my old Wacom tablet didn’t work with 10.14 and there was no driver update due to my Wacom tablet being so old. Hence I purchased a new Hurion tablet. Any other ideas?? Maybe I can do a screen video showing the issues. James
