Heinrich got a reaction from ROB002 in Edit text content in symbols
I'd like to see this feature aswel. Indeed using textstyles works but it doesn't feel intuitive. I like textstyles and symbols separated like it is now but the Symbols panel should indeed offer some options to edit text content.

Great stuff! Really like the new text/font functionality.
Keep up the great work!

Heinrich reacted to MattP in Craft by invision app
We do have prototyping already working behind-the-scenes in the current Designer, but it is disabled while we work through and flesh it out. Hopefully 1.6 will enable this functionality :)

Heinrich reacted to smallreflection in Craft by invision app
For a start, I think having a scripting API for plugins for Affinity Designer would be a huge boost—but built-in functionality for inputing data like this would also be really impressive and would potentially draw a lot of Sketch fans.

Heinrich reacted to Crionis in Layers panel improvements
Although it is mostly ok, the layers panel could use much improvement overall. Here are a few things I'd be happy to see:
Global lock/unlock for objects. Individual solo/un-solo for objects. The current alt+click on a thumbnail just doesn't cut it, as it's not robust enough. It simply turns off when clicking away. This significantly limits the potential this feature could offer. Ability to make the list more condensed, so that more items can be visible at once. A larger thumbnail pop-up preview when hovered over the smaller thumbnail next to the object in the layers panel (this would help when making the list more condensed) Overall performance. To me, on my relatively powerful Windows machine, it feels a bit sluggish. Nothing too serious, but still feels like there's a lag whenever the layer has been moved or a when a group is being expanded. It's not exactly snappy compared to other software I've used. You guys are doing a great work so far! Can't wait to see more of the future updates! From what I've seen so far, it can only get better.

Heinrich reacted to sorax in Using vector graphics as stroke style in Affinity Designer
Hello Affinity Designer development team!
I'm using Affinity Designer for game art, and the introduction of symbols in 1.5 is incredibly helpful! It would be great if it was possible to use a symbol as a curve stroke. Currently there is no way of bending vector objects in any way, and the only way to conform something to a path is to save it to raster image and create a textured brush out of it. It's not a very productive workflow :)
Thanks!

Heinrich reacted to PepGold in Grid tool like Photoshop CC
I really use that Affinity would create a layout grid tool like Photoshop. Super fast and easy. One simple dialog box to rule them all. Really powerful.

Heinrich reacted to Bri-Toon in AD: Table Tool
I don't want to overwork you guys, because I appreciate everything you're doing. I just want to share an idea I thought of for Affinity Designer; a table tool. Designer is for vector artwork and layout, right? Well whenever I worked with tables, I actually always used Microsoft Word, not Excel. The functionality that the tool could have is to align content and text more efficiently. You would be able to choose an alignment for rows, columns, and cells. You could merge cells, split them, distribute rows or columns evenly, and of course, hide the borders. Back when I used Yahoo, I came up with a make belief competitor called Tada. I used a table to make its directory (at least 7 years ago now).
So what do you think? Would a Table Tool make a good addition to Designer? I think it would come great for layout and UI designs.

Heinrich reacted to MEB in Editing Embedded Files
Hi JokeRat,
No, it doesn't update. Embedded documents are completely independent/not linked to the original files in any way.
There's plans to introduce linked files (what you are describing) later in a future version.

Heinrich got a reaction from CMPLX in Developer persona
Hi,
My company has started using Affinity Designer on the work floor and it's been great!
But it got us thinking that a Developer persona would be very useful, where our developers could just click
sections and get the full html / css structure, code, just a copy paste away from making it into the code.
Maybe allow a view of the flow through the app via arrows so the developer has a good idea of the user-journey through
the interface. The persona could also be used to view several states of an object, like an input field that returns and error
or a button in a different state.
I think this would tie in nicely with the 1.5 release that made interface work in Affinity so much more attractive and improve
the flow between designers and developers.
Thanks for reading.

Heinrich reacted to Bruno Rhuan in The Amazon forest girl
My first work in Affinity Designer. Just an idea that came up in my mind about this little girl in the river, which is a very comon scene here in the Amazon.
I don't have much experience with water reflection so it's a little simplified in the bottom of the drawing.
Just watched a couple youtube tutorials about light and shadow and tried to put in practice. By the way, the noise tool is AWESOME!
Hope you like it!

Heinrich reacted to pmeinertz in Bulb rendering
Just played around tonight doing a bulb. Wanted to make some matt metal and high gloss glass with transparent effect.
Not super real, but OK I guess?
Could be fun to try and make the same but with light in it :-)
Hope you all like it!
Update: Added original AD file. Not cleaned up so well in the naming of layers.

Heinrich reacted to Jobalou in Red Button
This was a study for me. I made this button inspiring on a picture I saw. It is a test for gradients, blurs and transparencies.
I find more and more fantastic features inside AD.
^_^
Edited to upload the original file
Enjoy and learn

Heinrich reacted to giantlobsterprd in After work
My first attempt at illustrating using Affinity - have found the workflow very easy to pick up, gradient tool and 'paste inside' have been the most useful so far. Haven't tried the raster tools yet, I'm more of a vector native, but I'll experiment at some point.
Have to say I'm loving this software - anything that will help me get out of the grip of the evil empire is worth having!

Heinrich reacted to Lescot in FLOWER GIRL.
After many dark days I am waiting for spring. Started this with a ballpen drawing (attached) and finished it in Affinity. Many layer fx and gradients used. I really like the possibility to insert different markers in the gradient panel - very helpful.
The idea was she is waking up from a deep sleep, the bird with her. Winter hasn't left yet but the little color-glows are already pointing towards spring.
Used a mix of muted colors and fresher accents.

Like MirrorMe for AI. Have been using this for nearly a year now, it's very useful. Hopefully somewhere down the road something similar will be added to AD.

Heinrich reacted to leGordeau in First attempt ...
Hi everybody.
Here goes my first image in AD, after years of using Inkscape.
I miss many tools (...soon to come), but the software runs like a charm in my old macbook pro, and the ability to combine bitmap and vector drawing is just awesome!!!!
The image was inspired after the whole christmas holidays spent installing lamps at my home.
I hope you like it!.

Heinrich reacted to luispedrofonseca in Project Cuba - Jacqueline
Hey,
Just did a new character for my game (Project Cuba) using Affinity. She's the wife of the guy on the left. :)
My style for this game involves adding highlights/shadows areas and the "auto-masking" makes it a breeze. I honestly think it took me less than a 1/3 of the other character mostly because of this feature!
Hope you like it! :)
