  1. Hello! I understand why betas are only available for those who have purchased the software. However, because of that, I am in a peculiar situation now. I want to try the software, and I still have 5 remaining days of my trial version, but I have got into the well-known bug loop where I cannot save my file because of an internal error. The beta version 1.10.1, where, apparently, the bug has been fixed, is only available for existing customers. But I am not one, so I am not eligible to use that version. Now I am just stuck with the 5-day trial of a piece of non-working software. It is unfair! How am I supposed to try it before I buy it? Thank you! Denis.
  2. Yes, neither Photo or Designer at core are paint programs, neither are Photoshop and Illustrator by the way, but they might be very good at this. All in all, we just deal with image manipulation process whether it's a painting or a collage, or a retouched photo. It's all about tools you use, and the more you have the better it is. Boundary is getting thinner. Krita is good but this is for another topic. Pity that you don't paint much anymore. But may be you will? You can never know:)
  3. Well, I've just figured out what my problem was. My stupidity! The problem occurs only in AP Public Beta 1.6.0.75 (Windows). Brush stroke behaves just as expected in Affinity Photo 1.5.2.69 and Designer 1.5.3.69. Sorry! But this topic might be about a certain bug in AP Public Beta 1.6.0.75 (Windows) right?
  4. Hi gdenby! Thanks for your response! Could you show me your brush preferences plz? I can assume, looking at your screenshots, that you probably move your hand quite slowly in order to better control your brush stroke size/flow. Well, yeah, that's an option, but it's too far from natural sketching and drawing experience as well as from good looking result. Working in vector is another solution but, once again, this is not how you sketch and draw on a piece of paper. I just don't get how other software handle this problem. I've already tested Krita, Sketchbook Pro, ClipStudio Paint. They all give you that nice brush stroke ending which is smooth and fades away beautifully. See the attached screenshot.
  5. Hello everyone! I've noticed one thing about brush stroke in Affinity Photo, and I'm wondering if it's possible to achieve a certain brush stroke ending at all. So, here is the thing. If you look at the attached screenshot, you will notice that brush ending in AP is thick (Size Jitter is set to Pressure 70%, see another screenshot), whereas brush stroke f.e. in Sketchbook Pro is thin and smooth. I'm using a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet, of course. I've been playing with all the brush settings but I've not managed to get the same result as I can get in many other programs (may be even in PS?). I always get thin stroke beginning and thick ending. Is there a way to adjust any brush settings to get the same type of line as f.e. Sketchbook Pro and many other programs allow? UPD: It looks that in those programs which can provide this kind of brush stroke, brush size jitter is not only controlled by Pressure but also by Velocity at the same time. I mean, to achieve this smooth brush stroke ending hand should "take off" quite quickly.
  6. Indeed, I wasn't even aware I was using arbitrary zoom levels. I tried ⌘ (cmd) +1, ⌘ (cmd) +2 and ⌘ (cmd) + 3 etc. shortcuts and it seems to be like a workaround for me at the moment. Thanks!
  7. Hi MEB, Thanks for the replies! No, I don't confuse AD with AP. I'm just switching between them to test if the problem remains. Well, I hope team is going to solve this problem with AP soon.
  8. What does affect jagged lines, however, is the View Mode. If I choose View > View Mode > Pixels, then lines get jagged in AD. If I choose ... > Pixels (Retina) - lines get smoother and nicer. If I choose ... > Vector - everything is great and at its best. Well, it seems that I just need this opportunity to switch view modes in AP:) That's it!
  9. Hi Sima, No, it doesn't:( "Bilinear (Best Quality)" is set by default. Changing other settings in the Performance tab has no affect on jagged lines.
  10. Hi DWright, Well, then why don't I see my lines jagged when I simply switch to Export Persona in the same program? That's weird. Why do I see pixels in one Persona and don't see them in another? Strange. Photoshop is also a pixel based editing program which shows my lines well. As do the other pixel based programs for image creation and editing. There is certainly something with how AP renders image in the particular Photo Persona. May be it's right. Or may be it would be better to have control over how the program shows pixels. By the way, I've checked the same file in Affinity Designer. Lines look great (smooth) both in Draw and Pixel Persona (also weird - I mean pixel lines look well in Pixel Persona in AD but they don't in Photo Persona in AP?!).
  11. Thank you! I know this trick. Anyway, I hope to get an option to scale the actual color panel one day.
  12. Hello! I'm trying to use AP as a digital painting program and here is a weird thing which bothers me. When I'm in Photo Persona and zoom more than 100% I can see jagged lines. It doesn't affect final lines quality but is a bit annoying anyway. Other programs (like Krita or Sketchbook Pro) smooth lines when zooming. Moreover, if I switch to Export Persona in AP, then my lines look smoothed as in the mentioned programs. I've attached two pics to illustrate what I'm talking about - one with jagged edge (I took screenshot and cropped it) and another is an exported via Export Persona slice. The scale is different, I know, but I hope you get the point. Ok, in short, is there any option to switch between jagged lines (which may be useful for some reasons, f.e. pixel art) and the smoothed ones which are better for sketching/digital drawing?
  13. Hello! I'm wondering if there is a possibility to resize color panel f.e. in the form of Color Wheel to make it bigger. I mean the wheel itself. Now I can only resize it horizontally and make it smaller. Thank you!
