am7 got a reaction from Fun Art Sam in How to set default colour bit depth in AP
Ok, so for anyone wondering, I found how to fix this:
    1. click on assistant options (little tux icon in the top bar).
    2. In raw output format, select the desired bit-depth.
    3. Click on the "close" button to close the assistant options dialog box.

Nevertheless, it would be very helpful if this option was also in
Affinity photo > Preferences > Colour

am7 got a reaction from carl123 in Bug when trying to reopen adjustment dialog box on an image
This bug has been observed in the most up to date (as of today) version of affinity publisher desktop (1.8.6) on Mac. It has initially appeared in the Affinity on desktop subforum (link to original post at the end).
In the Words of @carl123, who also found a workaround or solution (see original post),

While it is possible that AP was partly designed this way, there are additional elements to this that make it seem like it is probably partly a bug:
    1. Sometimes, the checkboxes for the image and adjustment layers are greyed out (I do not know why), and therefore they cannot be unchecked. Other times, they are not greyed out, but clicking to uncheck them only works for a small fraction of a second, after which the check returns automatically.
    2. When double-clicking on the adjustment, the blend modes dialog box often only appears on screen for a fraction of a second. It sometimes stays on screen (although I am unsure why) without apparent reason. It also stays on screen if I hold the cmd or shift key as I double-click on the adjustment, which I discovered while trying to take a screenshot
    3. This behaviour is inconsistent:

Also, with the Master Page layer selected in the Layers panel, and the Move Tool active, you should have a button in the Context Toolbar to choose an editing option.

Thank you @carl123 for the solution,
I tried edit detached and it is now possible to reopen the adjustment.
For future reference and for people wondering how to access Edit detached: Right-clicking on the master page layer from the layer panel allows you to access this option.
I also feel like part of this is a bug (although it is also possible part of it is as designed). I added the bug tag to this thread, and I will make a post about it in the Publisher Bugs found on MacOS subforum (linking this thread).

    Recipe:
Create 1 page document with Master page
Add picture frame to Master page
    Goto page one of document
    Add JPG to picture frame
In Layers Panel, expand Master Page Layer and Picture frame layer
Add adjustment to JPG layer (e.g., Recolour - adjustment will become child of JPG layer)
    Close adjustment dialog
Result: Unable to reopen adjustment dialog

At first glance it looks like a bug but I believe it may be "as designed" (a bit confusing but "as designed")
The adjustment is being added to an image shown only on page one but the image is contained in a picture frame from the Master Page.
So, to readjust the adjustment you have to use the Edit Detached function to access the adjustment to readjust it
Confusing because you don't need to use Edit Detached to add the adjustment but you do to readjust it or delete it

am7 got a reaction from carl123 in SOLUTION to High pass too bright
    Hello,
I'm just writing because I have found a solution to a problem I was having recently. Since I found no solution online, I thought it might help someone else.
For some time I had been having trouble with the high pass filters. What happened was that the filter was very bright (see picture below), and no detail showed up. When working correctly, the filter used to be dark grey and the details light grey. I first thought it might have something to do with the characteristics of the image, such as brightness or frequency, but it seemed to happen with any image.
    I had tried:
    - Reinstalling Affinity photo
    - Using different images
    - Looking online for a solution
    to no avail.
    SOLUTION :
What finally solved my issue was going to the ICC profile menu (Document > convert format / ICC profile) and selecting RGB/8 or RGB/16 as a colour format (it was on RGB/32 because I had been doing some high resolution editing and tone mapping a few weeks earlier).
I don't know why the 32-bit colour format does that to the high pass filter, but but 8-bit and 16-bit both seem to work fine for me.
