yeh.. i'm a Blender user .. and I know this is not a space to discuss that.. But that is amazing in vector use.. but I'm still waiting Affinity Designer to bring these old yet very useful features in AD..
Merge and divide shapes with no "garbage" stuff as mentioned above..   Vector Width tool Expand stroke for Brushes.. symbols spray tool with shifting.. random rotation expanding and collecting etc.(even Macromedia Flash had it) Distribute objects Randomly Distribute Objects along path and rotate as needed (like text along path) Shape Blend tools  Mesh Warp tools for Designer (AP does have this thing but only for once!)  Gradient mesh tools are very important if you are making vector art  perspective transform kind of tools.. (there are ISO and that is very cool ) And a bunch of more..
    @acapstick @AdamW @Andrew MacDonald @James Ritson I dont' know who should I add in.

    Thank you

I look forward to the day when the UI just has one button. Load a picture, (or just find one on the internet) press the button and let the AI do the rest, no other input, or artistic skill, needed at all in order to produce a great work of art; just like everyone else’s!

I am old enough to use cameras with film also. I still have two old russian Cmena's, old Minolta and Zenit cameras. Digital cameras didnt made my head spin. Prices of decent camera did the trick
AI is not making my head spin either. Quite contrary. Maybe because I worked on the computer all my life starting with ZX spectrum and C64 ages ago? So all the new things I take with a pinch of salt and dont join the hysteria every time something new appears? Dont want to sound rude but when it comes to so called AI people behave like some sort of primitive tribe looking at TV for the first time, amazed how all these small people entered this box 😮 .
I wonder from where comes this absolute confidence that this technology will quickly develop into something AMAZING. So many examples of tech that was really promising in early days and then its development plateaued or even completely crashed. Remember the revolutionary, game changing movement sensor Kinect? "You are the controller!". Nothing will be the same again! Well... Or beginning of VR - soon nobody will use monitor! Everything VR! It is around, still developing, maybe one day will be more popular. But it certainly didnt took over in many years. How about self driving cars? So many news, future is here! Well, not really yet, but soon! You will see! That takes long enough too, doesnt it? Turns out its not that easy as we thought it might be.
Recently I read that first 3D scanners were made in the... 60s. I dont even know what purpose it could serve back in a day where computers didnt even had... screen. 60 YEARS later 3d modelers still have jobs. Adobe is praised now for its forward thinking with its AI tools. It took about 30 YEARS to implement in Photoshop something as simple as symmetry - tool that was present in Deluxe Paint made in 80s. Forgive me if I am not joining the chant about how great that company is
I am not against technology (clearly, my everyday work depends on it), I do not afraid of it or anything like that. But sorry - I am not easily impressed by random picture showing up inside of selection... I would absolutely LOVE to see the end of retopologizing 3D objects by hand. Do that, o great AI. Make retopology obsolete, please. And while youre at it do the same with UVs. I will be the most progressive, forward thinking AI supporter then.
    But spitting the image...?
I can only quote Shania Twain and say "that don't impress me much"

I'm sorry, but this post is completely unacceptable here on the Affinity Forums, @Red Sands and therefore I have hidden this.
You have every right to request a change in the UI for accessibility reasons, but you cannot interweave this with personal attacks towards other users.
Please see rule 1 in our Guidelines.
You do not get to decide who can and can't participate in threads here on the Affinity Forums, as you a not a moderator or member of Affinity Staff.
I also suggest that your improvement requests or criticisms regarding the apps UI are posted in their own, relevant thread.
I appreciate OP has mentioned the Brush Studio improvements in their original post but as this thread is not specifically feedback regarding the UI readability, it is deserved of it's own thread, where it can be discussed separately.
Continuing to post in this way may result in your account being removed.
    Thanks for your understanding.

I'm not sure about you guys, but the blue is very visible on my monitor on the stock default ui settings. Quite a bit more so than the screenshot that was provided here that threw RedSands into a meltdown lmao
So to echo the sentiments of the original poster, Thank you Serif for the work done in 2.1! Keep it coming.

Would it be possible to implement a one-key shortcut to clear a layer without deleting it. This would reduce the amount of keystrokes needed in a quickfire session.

So far i believe the quickest way is: ctrl-a -> del > ctrl-d.

Thats just setting up a strawman, this isnt about a subjective interpretation of which application is more 'honest', this about a user expecting a reasonable consistent result. By the same logic, our glitchy broken expand strokes feature must be pretty honest too?
This application has had problems with consistent results when it comes to certain aspects of their vector engine for a little while now. Its an unfortunate situation that I hope gets straightened out sooner rather than later, but its been years. Fair warning.

Guys, I know it's summer and I'm trying not to be angry, but how come some bugs that break basic functionality are not fixed since winter?
    1. Artifacts appearing once live filters are placed in group? This is ridiculous.
    2. Layers showing halos when exporting. You need to flatten the image before exporting, which defeats the reason for having layers.

Both of these were reported by me and others since winter and they are still not fixed. I really don't care about new Mac super duper high resolution support, I want to have good working conditions.
I was quiet, only reminding that it's not fixed in *any* latest beta, but it's past 1.7 and it's still there.

Sorry, I had to vent. But this is irritating.

I know mesh distort tools are on the road-map, but just in case those tools were only meant to cover gradient-meshes I overwhelmingly vote for a universal distort brush with the ability to nudge, thicken, thin out, and otherwise distort strokes. This would be an INCREDIBLY useful and time saving tool. It provides a more organic way to edit strokes without the need for manually grabbing and adjusting handles.

A bucket fill tool that analyzes individual strokes and creates one closed shape to quickly fill an area. But if it came down to it, my heart is set on the distort tools!!
