After waiting for YEARS for DXF support with literally no response from anyone at Serif, this feels like a cruel joke to release half a feature. Very disappointing to say the least.
DXF import without export is, as tac0man said, pretty useless, so I can only assume there are other complicating factors that make this difficult for Serif to accomplish. Some clear and direct communication about it would go a LONG way toward building goodwill and managing expectations for the future of the Affinity suite. Right now, about 75% of my work in Adobe Illustrator involves both DXF import and export for product design and graphic design for things like labeling, packaging, etc.
I don't understand the purpose of building a house with knobs on only one side of the doors.

Well that is disappointing. How long has an AutoTrace tool been a feature request, 8 years now?

Is there any way to visually see if an image box has a text wrap assigned to it or not? Currently, we click on each image with the text wrap window open to see if it has been assigned correctly? Seem to me, there have has to be a better way of getting that feedback on text wraps in publisher. Maybe an indicator in the toolbar, or the layers pallet, or a ghosted outline of the text wrap (like in ID). It would be nice to see where the borders lie within the document. Only time I can see text wrap is to edit it, but it does not stay visible. Can you leave visibility turned on?
We have can have up to 12 images on a catalog spread with written copy. Seeing those text wrap borders would help our copy department see how the text in going to interact with the images before writing it. Page element feedback from publisher is a good thing and would help with the production efficiency. Having to click on each image and guess where the text wraps are going to hit based on the measurements is not very efficient.

I can verify the devs have confirmed this is by design currently in Publisher, my apologies. Therefore I will log this as an internal Improvement request with them now!
    I hope this helps

    Hi @jbartley,
As mentioned above this is unfortunately not an option in Publisher currently, therefore I've moved this thread to the Feedback section of our forums for our devs to see and consider adding this in a future update.
    I hope this helps

Not strange. Photoshop has had 28 years more to get where they are. I suppose sometime during that period, someone went "OK, I'll write some code that moves a bitmap along the x/y values of a bezier curve. And then write some more code to delete the bitmap info, and redraw it when the curve is altered."

Might not be all that hard to do. A few of the layer fx are bitmap drawings that scale w. the associated vectors. Still, I'd rather the developers put effort into something more useful. I can do a reasonable manual trace of a vector with pixels. But having something like a blend tool that will offer the ability to transform many shape nodes with a few clicks, instead of manually shifting hundreds, it not thousands of points, would be lots more valuable.

jbartley reacted to aldedie in allow to include "export file" as part of a macro
    Hello,

I have been using Affinity only during the last few weeks and I am pretty happy with it.

However, as other users, I missing some small things. One of them is the capacity to record a macro in which exporting a file is part of that macro. When I tried that, an Affinity pop-up window said it was not possible to record it. It would be very useful to record the action of exporting a file as one of the available types to a specific location.

Thank you and keep the good work!

Could DXF export be added as a export option. I sometimes have have to send my designs to a CNC and vinyl cutting shop. There preferred format is DXF. It would be great not to have to import my design into cad program before sending it them. I currently use this feature in illustrator and it works nicely.

    Hi jbartley,
If the paths are vector masks (and thus visible in the Layers panel in Photoshop) they should be imported to Affinity Photo without issues. Do you mind attaching a sample file for us to look at? I can provide you an upload link if you don't want to post it publicly.

Hi, i am new in this forum and currently testing the newest Beta of Affinity Publisher, which i really like.
Is there a possibility to use clipping paths, alpha channels of .psd files in the publisher document?
For Example in InDesign we got the tool "Clipping Path" where you can change paths and alpha channels or the tool "Photoshop Layers" where you can choose single layers.
I know that i can enable or disable the .psd layers in publisher, but if i have the same two picture in one document and disable one layer, the changes will be seen in both images on the desktop.
    Thank you!
