We do have this issue logged - thanks for reporting it. I'll add this thread to it

    Hi jbartley,
If the paths are vector masks (and thus visible in the Layers panel in Photoshop) they should be imported to Affinity Photo without issues. Do you mind attaching a sample file for us to look at? I can provide you an upload link if you don't want to post it publicly.

Could DXF export be added as a export option. I sometimes have have to send my designs to a CNC and vinyl cutting shop. There preferred format is DXF. It would be great not to have to import my design into cad program before sending it them. I currently use this feature in illustrator and it works nicely.

jbartley reacted to supertramp in Clipping paths and Photoshop Layers in Publisher
Hi, i am new in this forum and currently testing the newest Beta of Affinity Publisher, which i really like.
Is there a possibility to use clipping paths, alpha channels of .psd files in the publisher document?
For Example in InDesign we got the tool "Clipping Path" where you can change paths and alpha channels or the tool "Photoshop Layers" where you can choose single layers.
I know that i can enable or disable the .psd layers in publisher, but if i have the same two picture in one document and disable one layer, the changes will be seen in both images on the desktop.
    Thank you!

    +1
It would be nice to be able to set color to guides, and individually would be nice too.

We will be able to import InDesign IDML files but not .indd files. The feature is being written but we don't have a timescale yet.

We are still writing the bleed preview, and it didn't make it into this first beta. No doubt it will appear in an early update if it passes internal testing.

Useful arguments for what? There has not been a new argument in this topic since page two or so. It is all just recycling the same things over & over.

    Hi @jbartley,
It seems to be an issue with multiple channels not loading. I have logged it as a bug with our devs.
    Thanks,
    Gabe.

I'm not sure what you mean.

We don't need a dumbed down version of inDesign. We need a Desktop Publishing application that beats inDesign.
While inDesign may be daunting to you it's geared towards a professional market and we need a professional application to do that.

There is nothing near in the market at the moment that rivals inDesign for its depth etc., when it comes to professional publishing.
That's why we need Publisher to rival that and not something that dumbs it down.

Yes please, essential to me too. I bought designer expecting this would be an obvious basic feature. We are a multi-dis design and fabrication studio deeding to output DXF for laser cutting, CNC, waterjet etc, and this could take over as the master software with this one feature.

I also work regularly with 50 or so companies who would gladly switch from Adobe to Affinity if they supported this feature.

Same must be the case in every design community all over the world.

    Here's hoping...

jbartley reacted to kirkt in [AP] Soft Proof Adjustment Layer - Gamut Check
If it is possible, it would be terrific if the "Gamut Check" feature in the Soft Proof adjustment layer provided a false-color overlay/map that gave an indication of how far OOG the pixels were, say in deltaE, instead of a gray overlay that does not indicate how far OOG each selected pixel actually is.

Even better would be a preference to map the false color overlay to different dE values - that way, the user could specify the level of dE discriminated in the OOG overlay.  For example, green for a dE <2, yellow for dE between 2 and 6, red for dE > 6 or something like that.

This would be useful in assessing OOG colors for print, for example, and what adjustments would be necessary to bring the current document into gamut for the intended output space.  Sort of highlight and shadow clip warnings in a typical raw converter.  I can envision making a saturation adjustment or a Lab curves adjustment and watching the OOG indicator map change from lots of red and yellow to a little bit of yellow and calling that adjustment sufficient for the conversion into the destination color space.

provides this kind of gamut map, but is a professional color tool that is expensive and requires a lot of additional knowledge to use, and is not an embedded tool in an image processing application.  The attached example shows a particular blue in AdobeRGB and how it would map to an Epson printer profile, with the "gamut map" showing how far OOG some of the blue areas are.

    Thanks!

jbartley got a reaction from lorenzodetomasi in Save Selection and Curve To Selection
Could a Save Selection be added. Maybe as a selection layer.

Also could a curve to selection be added.

These two functions work hand in hand for me. I am always using my curve tool to isolate parts to adjust color or add an effect. I often need to go back into the file to recolor or edit that selection later. I don't what to loose my selection once I worked so hard to isolate a particular part of the image. I would just add a curve layer and leave it at that... but I do not see a way to convert that curve into a section for later edits.

As a work-around I am creating a closed curve layer and filling it as my potential selection. I use the selection brush to select my fill to get my selection back. Kind of a long way to get a simple result. ;)
