BeverlyE got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in iPadOS 15.4 export bug
The problem is still present in late June. I have a slightly different situation. I import a photo and extract part of it to use in another app. All goes well until I import a second photo to do another extraction. When I export it the app only exports a second copy of the previous photo. This has not always been a problem. Please fix this bug!!

I found it! I found it!!
I had the "Protect Alpha" checkbox on (see the upper-right area on your workspace. Having that checked on prevents you from painting on a transparent area.

I have produced a pdf version of the Affinity Photo manual that you can read without starting the program. It can be interesting to put it on your phone or tablet to read when you have some time to spare. Since the file is too big to upload here, I have put it on Dropbox for you to download. It is current for the last version of Affinity Photo. Comments welcomed. Here is the link:

Perhaps there's just generally a performance issue with it. It's just a tad worse for me in 32 bit but that doesn't mean it can't potentially happen in any colour mode. I've logged it with the developers so hopefully they can find out what's going on.

    Hi,
I’m getting a crash on iPad Air 2 running iOS 12.3.1 with Affinity Photo 1.7 whenever I use the Refine Selection tool. No matter what I do in Refine Selection, when I select the output as “new layer with mask” and hit apply it waits for a short moment then crashes.
    Attached a screen recording.
Any help would be most appreciated!

    Hey BeverlyE,
I managed to reproduce this when there was a mask layer attached to my pixel layer. I'll get this logged for you. Thank you

When you load the LUT you can press the '+' button from the settings dialog to add this as a preset to the LUT Adjustments category for future use.

This time some Fire Styles (a few of them have transparency, though most do not) for those who might have a use for these things. - [NOTE: that these styles work best when used on very dark (preferable deep black) backgrounds!]

Yeah! It only took my 459 tries to figure that out. Okay.....I am exaggerating but I am thrilled it helped you too!

I still wish I knew why it didn’t work any other “normal” way but as long as it works, it’s cool.

Let me go through my steps and do some screenshots.

I download the file file from this forum and open in iZip. In iZip I extract all and click on the resulting afstyles file. iZip says it doesn’t recognize this file format and asks me where to open it. I click on Save to Files. When the location prompt comes up, I click iCloud Drive and then click Add in the upper right hand corner.

In Affinity Photo, open a document then open the Styles palette and click on Styles at the bottom. Click on the box with 3 lines (next to the pushpin icon) and click Import Styles. The Browse option should have the iCloud Drive open and you will see your downloaded file. Click that. Then watch your new Styles pop up in AP.

If you want a link to the free iZip app, yell.

Can anyone give me a step by step (or point me to a tutorial on Vimeo or YouTube) to help me install the style files that are downloaded from the Resources forum here? I did it successfully (and easily) with the previous version but I am just not doing well with the new version.

I have tried saving the files to Dropbox and the Files app but nothing is importing using “import styles” in the Styles palette.

    Color me frustrated.

Yes it is annoying. Sometimes waiting a few seconds helps lock on selected colour, sometimes not waiting works. No consistency so hard to work around. Many good things in this beta release BUT... painting on masks is nigh on impossible now.

    Hi BeverlyE,

I found the same as yourself and so did a couple of the QA guys.

This has already been logged for investigation by the Dev team, so hopefully won't be too long before it's resolved.

Bruce, when you are on the layer with the marching ants do a two finger tap and deselect is one of the choices that appears.

    Hi BeverlyE,

I'm not sure where you may be going wrong, but here are a couple of tips that might assist you:
Preferences > Interface > Show selection in layers studio Display the Layers Studio and click the pin icon to keep the layers displayed so you can keep glancing to make sure the desired layer is selected I hope that helps you somewhat.

BeverlyE reacted to MEB in Distort or skew layer
    Hi BeverlyE,
You can shear a layer (horizontally) using the Transform Studio - make sure you have the layer and Move Tool selected. There's also a Shear filter in the Filters Studio.
Regarding the Perspective, check the Source / Destination control on the bottom (context toolbar). Set it to Destination to distort the image while you move the grid.
