you definitely archived that "Photoshoped" kind of look

I meant.... I’m USED to photoshop. I’m struggling to understand and find the right tools. Where they are located. I struggled to create a clipping mask then convert that into a selection. I struggled to feather and either expand or detract the selection. And so much more.
Therefore, that is not a photoshop look that I achieved. It is an Affinity Photo look that I achieved. ;)

Trying too hard to stay away from Photoshops terminology with tools and such.
I just used the pen tool to create a path..... but......
In Photoshop, it was easy, go to layers, select Path tab, then Make Selection
Can't find how to make my Path a selection and I want the selection to be on my image not on another layer.
I'm in limbo until I can figure out how to make my path a selection. Is that even an option?

I just have more experience with Photoshop, finding my way around it.
Still finding my way around Affinity. It's got it's similarities but it's also laid out differently, the tools are just slightly different so I'm struggling a bit. I'll get there eventually.
The reflection however is a tough one because they are shiny enough to see the person holding the camera, namely me.
This is the original image. I'm actually gonna try and re-do this one and work on the shades a bit more. After looking at the finished image, I hate the shades! LOL!!

Trying to take a stationary image and make the sky look like the clouds are moving... otherwise known as a long exposure, the ocean looks soft but the main subject is clear.
I saw the tutorial on the iPad Pro but can't locate where I saw that. Actually trying to attempt this on the Mac.

Been there done that.... doesn't matter where the photo is located or what drive it's on- permissions check, disk utility - check. The one thing I haven't done is RE re-install Mac OS. I just reinstalled it yesterday and this is when it started to happen.... after! Was working fine before as I've said.
I'm an Apple technician so troubleshooting is my job.
Just stumped with this one. Have also uninstalled a program that wasn't from the App Store - no change.
I've had these external drives for a couple of years they are still healthy.

Have you run Disk Utility's "First Aid" on the Total Storage volume (& your normal startup drive)? Does the same problem occur for photos stored on the startup drive? In Disk Utility, when you click the info button with the Total Storage volume selected, what does it say next to "File system" & farther down next to "Owners enabled"?

PS... what is Sandboxing?

Yeah, I get what you're saying.... so I purchased the Affinity Photo.....
NEITHER applications are working. Same error on BOTH. Can't even "place" an image on a new document. Tried large and small, jpegs, tiff's, you name it. I'm trying everything I can to try to work this out.
I've also just deactivated fonts and went back to the standard basics.... restarted computer - still will not load images of any type.
I'm about to ask for a refund because this is getting stupid.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to your question, so someone else will need to help you out with that, however looking at this post and also your post in another thread, did you accidently purchase Affinity Designer instead of Affinity Photo? Or have you bought both?
I purchased Affinity Designer then downloaded the Affinity Designer Beta (as it stated to do) But... like I said before (in my other post) It DID work prior to me cleaning up my system. Now it won't work at all.

I get this same message.... however.... I didn't previously.
I'm running MacOS Sierra 10.12.5
- Installed, launched, edited, played around with Affinity Designer - cool!
- Then wiped my drive - did disk utility check
- Reinstalled OS - reinstalled all my apps - cleaned up my system basically (runs faster/smoother)
- Now cannot open up photos without this same error...
Fixing permissions did quite the opposite for me. Any other suggestions?
This includes .tiff/.jpeg and RAW files
Editing to add.....
I have repaired permissions and still get the same error.
Another edit....
Deleted the original 1.5 version
Deleted the beta 1.6 version
Reinstalled only the 1.5 version - takes a really long time to launch (could be my fonts tho)
Same error on all three files types:
Editing.... again....
I have Affinity Designer - Downloaded the Beta and now have just purchased Affinity Photo
Affinity Designer will not open any file type what so ever, this includes, .eps and .ai file types
Affinity Photo and I get the same damn thing.
Think I've just wasted $130.....

Bumping this up.... Can anyone help me please?

Lightroom doesn't do animations so no need to worry about that. I'm also a landscape/macro photographer ( infinite-photography.net )
I currently use Lightroom and have for years. Affinity is a good replacement for Photoshop for me, with layers and such, cleaning up things etc, masking and what not
Lightroom is good for toning, changing, enhancing, contrast, clarity, and heaps more plus a lot of presets.
quite honestly I use both Lightroom and Photoshop (currently switching to Affinity instead of Photoshop).
Lightroom also organises by your star rating, previously imported, previously altered etc.

I have Lightroom version 5.7
I also have Photoshop which of course the two are from the same developer....
In Lightroom I have the option to Edit in and external Editor... 99% of the time I use Photoshop.
Creative Cloud is becoming too expensive so I've luckily found this awesome program. Loving the tutorials etc...
Ok my issue is that when I try to edit in external editor and I chose Affinity Developer as my choice that's all fine, but then I get this message.
I took a screen shot of it...
Now normally, this would work, however, today I just wiped my drive and reinstalled everything to give my computer a fresh start. (I use an iMac with OS X Sierra)
Permissions are fine on all of my folders, that shouldn't be an issue. So does this error lie within Affinity Program at all?
Please help! I would love to make this program my go to source.

Downloading the Beta for this. So eager to try something new.
Hope it's as good as the iPad Pro version?
Glad I watched WWDC and heard about this App!

I did a clipping mask, but in Photoshop you can select the clipping mask and make it a selection then you can feather or expand the selection. I couldn't find how to make my clipping mask a selection. I actually don't even know what I did now.
I also had other "Filter" affects with lighting that AP doesn't have. So couldn't do the reflection that I wanted. This was the best I could get with what I could "find".
I just actually worked on a photo over the last week and used AP to get rid of a kids playground. I'm quite pleased with the outcome of this photo which can be seen here ---> https://www.infinite-photography.net/objects?lightbox=dataItem-j5pzhb0i
So I am slowly finding my way around the program. Youtube videos don't cut it for me, I need words, things I can highlight, pages to bookmark or dog-ear, call me old-school, so if there's a manually that anyone can point me to.... ?
