Affirmative. PSD text should be a basic function. This helps when I  want to promote AFFINITY to my fellow if they still using PS.They will confuse if affinity even can't fully support PSD.

Great update so far with good stuff. Really good price as well for the launch offer. Well done guys.
    Just 2 thing i think I'm a bit ... why didn't happen yet?
    IDML.
So. On in this one I'm might going to far but I've raised in the past. If you can import, to provide great flexibility to designers (freelance expecially) you should be able to export as well as IDML.
    PSD text.
This one i'm really annoyed that it is not been update. Any text in Photo and exported as PSD file, will be rasterised. I've raised this as well a while ago for version 1 and answer was it doesn't allow but ... PIXELMATOR PRO that's does that. So it is possible.

If we aim to maximum flexibility add this feature. When people like work with office full of Photoshop, i need to be able not just to open their file and change the text but keep it that text modifiable when sent back as PSD.

    Hi,
I think this has not been asked as of yet (at least, I can't find it when searching). Probably, most of us are interested in IDML import, since the most urgent thing is transitioning from ID to APublisher.
However, I think that the ability of exporting IDML is still very important in a professional context.
    1) Most of the professional publishing sector will be based on ID for years, and being able to transfer our files to a larger workgroup is very important to have our work accepted.
    2) Computer aided translation tools are usually compatible with IDML files (and I can confirm they can be perfectly compatibile with ID). Translating our work will probably mean that the translators will ask us an IDML file.
So, I hope to see this implemented in a near future version.

So I've added a document below. I did custom text with the path tool in AD.
When I use the 'expand stroke' function the appearance changes. It becomes thinner, and it shouldn't.
The appearance also changes when I do exports via the export persona. I am using Affinity Designer v1.8.4

+1 more vote on integrating the Astute Graphics Technology in Affinity designer.
I own the entire AG suite, and it’s the only reason I still open illustrator. This would give AD the upper hand over illustrator in every way.

I DO mind paying Adobe, though it's not me but my non-profit which pays. However, I'd like my nonprofit to be paying less, and so I am transitioning my workflow to Affinity products. I paid for Affinity personally. I also paid for the Astute plug-ins personally even though they were for work, 'cause I try to benefit my non-profit and I knew I could use them for private work as well...and then once I'd finally purchased all the Astute plugins I wanted, they switched to a subscription model! Are their plugins worth $119/year? Well, I'd paid about $350 to buy them before they scrapped them for the sub model, so I suppose they're worth it for three years just on price. But for value...what I get out of them, it's immense. They not only save me time in some of my design work, they give me options that give me new ideas for projects.
If there is an alternative to Adobe Suite, I'll take it! Affinity fills closer and closer to 100% of my needs there...and it's not subscription based. Once they finally decide they need more of my money and can justify it though a new version release I'll pay the "one-time" fee again. Meanwhile, there aren't any alternatives to Astute's suite of plugins. So I have no option other than to just stop using them...and that would add more design time to my projects. If someone else comes along and makes a replacement for Astute and charges a ton but it's a one-time fee...I might be persuaded to drop the sub and buy them. But to give them all up for good? It's a no go.
That's how I see it, for me and my workflow.

Save custom workspaces Sync settings between suite apps For example if I save presets and a studio layout in AF DESIGNER I would like to access these same things from Publisher. It's a little annoying to have to setup up every export preset twice. And rearrange all my panels every time a new version launches.

I am sure just with the release of Publisher, 1.7 for the entire suite, that running a cost related release with any of the products just after I bunch of us bought publisher may raise eyebrows.
This is an eco-system not a stand-alone app so they're probably have an upgrade fee when the make the big v2 jump and there will be a lot more than just PSD text edibility.

And I'm sure many of us will repurchase the entire suite every few years without blinking twice, given how reliable and open they are about support. I feel like they know what they're doing.

Although you sparked an interesting thought, modular feature expansions might be really cool.
On one-hand you can finance specific feature development, which actually sounds fantastic, but if this ever came to the detriment of the users and the suite performance, functionality and growth it could have a slippery side.
For example, I use Blender quite a lot, and the add-on market is actually quite amazing, and I'm sure a lot of people would like It if most software had the same approach. At the same time I would throw a fit if I felt like every feature is another micro-transaction.

Hope the app can save studio settings. When I do different work I use to make different layout for it.
For example when I do graphic design I just need 5 tools from the studio, but when I do UI design or layout I need other tools from the studio.

It appears that Publisher has taken the Quark method of creating a separate dialog box for their resource manager for dealing with graphics. I much prefer the InDesign method which is a window that can be open all the time.

Hey @John Rostron, @Fixx pretty much nailed the technical description.
I use it on my concept art to blend edges for certain artwork, here is a sample I used it on.
It's mixed in with a few other things I use to create this style of mine, subtly used but still important for me. Wish I had more samples but NDA means waiting for the projects I worked on to actually release (and some projects have schedules that span years of course)
So I still swap to Photoshop occasionally to use it.

I've been really eager to make a hard swap, and I've gone as far as recreating custom brushes and learning the new workflow (which I love btw, it's way more adaptable) - but I'll still swap back every now and then for 1 or 2 tools.
It is a very niche tool, so I understand it might not be a priority, but you never know unless you ask.

I came here to ask precisely this question as I noticed it was rasterising the layer. I'm not sure whether the most common use case would be to rasterise or not, but for me it seems logical that you would want to use non-destructive methods on embedded documents. Could the assistant switch to live filtering if you try to do a destructive transformation on an embedded document, with the option to switch back if you were actually going for destruction?

I mean, I can always rasterise manually before transforming, if that's what I'm going for.

    Hi LCamachoDesign,
You can use a Live Perspective Filter (menu Layer -> New Live Filter Layer -> Perspective Filer) to achieve this (the embedded document will remain editable). Currently there's no live equivalent for Mesh Warp distortions.

    Hi,

Right now in Affinity Photo when you place an embedded document and use the perspective tool it gets rasterized. You can no longer double-click the layer to change the file.

Same thing in Affinity Designer, there is not much you can do other than simple skew.

I've just been trying to export 5 PDF artboards using the Export Persona and I can't find the 'include bleed' option.

+1 Had to re-subscribe to Photoshop because I acquired a client who needed psd files with editable text. I'd jumped completely off the Adobe plan almost 3 years ago. Now, when I'm working on his projects I miss my Affinity workflow between Photo and Designer for adding Call-outs and other graphics to photos. Studio Link looks to improve this workflow even more ... and now, arrowheads ... Arrrgh! And then to add to my frustration I'm playing with Procreate and it's newly added text feature and see that it exports psd files with editable text (but, alas, it has no real vector tools or full feature photo editing but ... editable text ...yes). I love the 1.7 release, and look forward to using the Studio Link buttons and other features just rolled out on my work for most of my other clients. But please save me the subscription and pain of having to switch to working with Photoshop's rudimentary vector tools next year by making editable text available in psd exports as quickly as possible across all platforms.Yes, your pricing is such that after jumping off the Adobe subscription I could afford to put both of your apps on all three of my devices.

+1 please this is such a requirement for me. Recently purchased AD and was unaware of this, in hindsight I may not have bought it if I had known as Photoshop is still a large part of mine, the companies and our clients workflows. I was gutted.
Was hoping it would of been in the latest version but no joy, any news of when / if it will be coming? Thanks.

It would give AD the upper hand because the technology would be built into the software, where right now Adobe only supports it as a plugin.
It would bring features to the table like better boolean operations, cleaner curves, collision detection, curve fitting, scattering operations, Curve extension based on trajectory, etc.
If it is part of the core software, it makes it a better core package.

I actually agree with your completely, if I could just use the same plugins that would also be great!
Serif could also develop the tools as part of AD expansion, and just create a subscription for those of us that need it. I doubt astute will want to support plugins for multiple suites. And the developers at Serif will know who best to fit it in without compromising their suite.

I've also wondered why Adobe hasn't gone this route. I feel like Adobe doesn't really focus on their products with special care and attention they used to. The latest copies of Photoshop and Illustrator are very slow and unstable, and instead of fixing these issues they just keep on adding more features that contribute to compromised performance and unreliability.
I've been wondering if Photoshop for iPad is going to also accompany an unveiling of a rewritten Photoshop for desktop... in which case maybe they're just being secretive until their project is further along.
