bbwd got a reaction from Daniel Gibert in The delete key don't working
After installing 2.2.0 the backspace delete key stopped working for me, had to reset as mentioned in earlier posts.

The backspace key has been used as a Delete key since I started using Macs back in 1993 in every single application. It should be baked into Affinity products and not have to be set as a keyboard shortcut.

bbwd got a reaction from Tinh in Manage presets greyed out
As the title says, when I try to create, delete or rename a preset through More ▸ Manage Presets option in the Export dialogue box, it is greyed out and unavailable. This happens in Publisher, Photo and Designer, all versions 1.9.0, on an iMac running 10.14.6. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Are you using the latest release version - YES Can you reproduce it? - YES Does it happen for a new document? If not do you have a document you can share that shows the problem? - HAPPENS ON NEW AND OLD DOCUMENTS If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following:    What is your operating system and version (Windows 10, OSX Mojave, iOS 12 etc)? - MOJAVE 10.14.6    What happened for you (and what you expected to happen). - I EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO MANAGE PRESETS    Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did). - OPENED EXPORT DIALOGUE, CHOSE A PRESET, CHANGED IT AND WENT TO SAVE AS NEW PRESET BUT COULDN’T    Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. - SEE ATTACHED PUBLISHER SCREENSHOT    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers. - JUST KEYBOARD AND MOUSE    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware) - IT WORKED BEFORE 1.9.0 UPDATE

    Hi,
Thanks for the reports. I think we’ve found and fixed this one.

Have you tried the Test document I attached to my first post to see if you can replicate the problem?

    Question 1:
Upon brief testing it appears not to happen in documents newly created in Beta 257 when I start completely from scratch.
But if I create a new document but then copy and paste text boxes from a document created in a previous beta it still happens but only with those text boxes. It does not happen with a new text box.
    Question 2:
If I open a document created in a previous beta it happens all the time. If I create a new document then it appears not to happen.

I hadn't noticed it not happening in newly created documents because I actually hadn't created a totally new document since Beta 257 was released. I had been using a 'template' I use for the jobs I was doing in Publisher.

I am using Beta 257 on an iMac running macOS 10.13.6 as well.

    @bbwd @dominik
The only solution I can find is to do the following:
Place your Greyscale JPG or TIFF into the Publisher document. Select the placed image in your layers panel. Apply a Gradient Map effect from the Layer Adjustment button at the bottom of the Layers panel. Edit the gradient within the dialogue box for the Gradient Map so that it has two stops: color in place of black, and white for white. Apparently applying a color directly to the image itself just fills the image frame with a solid color.

bbwd got a reaction from Steps in Using the Tab key in panels
When working in Photo and Designer (and the Adobe apps), if I need to input specific percentage values in the Colour Panel I will click into the field for Cyan, enter the value then press the Tab key to move the Magenta field and so on. In Publisher, I click into the Cyan field, enter the value (which registers) then press Tab and it will take me into the Magenta field but I it does not register any value if I try to enter one. The cursor actually moves to the Layers panel and reduces the opacity of the object to whatever value I inputted. The only way to get back to the Colour panel is to click with my mouse.
Has anyone else seen this problem and know how to fix it?
Also, I just made the application crash by pressing the Tab key too many times.

I'm afraid the square icons are coming to Designer and Photo. I commented on Twitter about the icon change and was sent this by someone who is using the beta versions.

As a professional Graphic Artist in the print industry that has to switch between programs constantly, I have to say I do not like the look or "usability" of the new icons, they blend in with all the other icons and I really have to make an effort to find the correct one.  I realize that it is new so that is part of it, but I have other programs with the same problem and I am always starting up the wrong one when hurrying through tasks.  I would much more appreciate an icon that readily identifies the program.  I liked the old icons better if just for that fact.

Vector Crop essentially destroys any possibility of further movement of the image within that frame from what I can see. I placed an image into a frame, sized it within the frame, then used the vector crop tool to crop it. Once that was done, the only option was to switch the 'mask' on or off.
I personally think InDesign handles images within picture frames so much better than Publisher. You can control an image within the frame far more easily and you can actually see what size the image is within the frame. The way images are actually handled in Publisher is quite off putting for me.

@Thisismandatory I agree, it’s not a great way to get what is pretty limited controls on picture resizing.
I think Adobe did get that right in InDesign and I would like Publisher to have very similar picture frame and content controls as InDesign.

Definitely needed in the New Document dialogue box. I’d also like to see a Margins and Columns option added which is the same as InDesign. I use both features on every document I create.

    Hi bbwd,
You can change the size of the artboard directly using either the Transform panel or the Move Tool (dragging the bounding box handles on canvas). Just make sure the artboard is selected in the Layers panel (the Document Setup dialog will reflect those changes).

When working with artboards there's isn't a defined document size since it depends on the position and size of those artboards on canvas. You should change the Artboard's dimensions directly as described.

You can set the type to be set in points always in the preferences under User Interface>show text in points. On the other, I am pretty sure Designer keeps last settings used. If you create a new doc in mms, it should retain those prefs until you change them again.
