VictorFerma reacted to lfeuln in Google Nik Collection is now free for everyone.
Thanks for the video link, I managed to install the plugins. Unfortunately the photo appears upside down when used in Affinity Photo, like this: http://i.imgur.com/p7pyXFs.png
Has anyone else had this issue? I don't see any tool to rotate the image within the plugin either. :(

Good call. I didn't even notice that it was an "Apple Promotion."

Hi garywright and legendofzelda,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
To access the Purchases page, open App Store application and click in the Purchased icon on top. You will have access to a list of all your purchased apps from which you can install apps presssing the corresponding install button on the right. If it still fails to install, drag Affinity Photo (or Designer) from your Applications folder to the trash and try to install it again as described,

VictorFerma reacted to darkandlong in Workflow for APP on iPad using Apple Card Reader?
Hi
I'm new to APP for iPad and I'd like some advice please on workflow. My typical situation is I'm away from home, don't have a laptop and would rather avoid having to upload any unedited images to any Cloud service just so I can re-download them and edit them, then presumably have to re-upload them. I just want to send either an out-of-camera JPEG or RAW from my SD or XQD card to APP or at least be able to choose in APP whether I want to edit the JPEG, RAW or both (one after the other, to compare and contrast).
At the moment, the Apple card reader does import the photos into the Photos App, though I'm unsure whether it's both the RAW+JPEG (my old iPad's Apple Photo app gave me no choice but to import both, even though it was only the JPEG that I could access).
When I open APP I can see the imported photos though each has 'RAW' in the top corner and it only allows me to select the RAW file.
I can make edits to the RAW file easily enough but when it comes to exporting or saving, I encounter the previously reported problem of Apple photos not importing the filenames, and so APP can't see them either, giving you just the default export name of 'untitled'. This is a huge negative for me and puts me off using it, as it creates problems later when identifying the original file for saving. Is there a way for APP to access the photos from my SD card by bypassing Apple photos, which strips the filename?
So: for now, I would like to be able to:
1. Know whether what I am looking at in the Photos App is the JPEG or RAW (I assume it's still the JPEG that displays)
2. Choose whether I import the RAW or the JPEG to work on in APP
3. Like others, I would like to import and preserve the file name.
I realise the 3rd one may not be possible for a while, so solutions to 1 and 2 would be great, for now.
Many thanks

VictorFerma reacted to stokerg in Reversing editing actions
Hi Zacl,
The last steps you took should of been listed on the History Panel and it's just a case of tapping the action before you started using the Healing Brush and that action is undone. If you've exported the work out and re-opened the JPG file then the History Panel would be blank, as this is a new image.

VictorFerma reacted to Andy81le in Double-click moves text frames ever so slightly
As the title says, not always but many times a double-click on a text frame (to start editing) can move the respective frame ever so slightly (see attached .gif). Present in both the 1.6.1.93 and the most recent beta. Very annoying
Is this a bug? I hope it is as this means it can be fixed.

VictorFerma reacted to kirk23 in Does AD extract traces from PNG or JPEG to VECTOR SHAPEs?
I used a cool soft before "Imagaro Z" Was dirt cheap years ago. Sadly my old version is no more working on current Windows and the soft became subscription based. https://www.graphicpowers.com/ A bit pricey for vectorisation only but to be honest it did and I am sure still does wonder things including auto font recognition and replacing.
It's on a level Affinity would spend years and millions to rival. I would prefer they would just focus on current things which still have lots to desire: feather edges, chain links in between objects/layers, alternating fragments in curve/pattern brush which was available in their old Serif Draw, layer comps or object tags and so on and on. What Illustrator has is a useless toy really so why even spend time on it. .

VictorFerma reacted to - S - in Importing RAW (CR2) Files
The most recent version of Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) is 4.7.20 and it will open your 6D Mark II cr2 raw files fine.
You can download DPP here:

Then if you click on the 'Manuals' section, you can download the DPP manual:

Thanks MEB, I was reading dmstraker's initial post and his statement as follows:
It made me assume that if one could do this on Windows, then it could also be done on a Mac. Thanks for your reply and the link.

Hi p_mac,
Luminar 2018 doesn't work as a plugin on the Mac (neither any of their software). For more info please check this page. Click over the name of the plugin for additional details.

VictorFerma reacted to firstdefence in Ideas for Designer 1.7
I know you have a dimensional display between elements.
My suggestion is a dimensions/resize tool for a selected element, a point in case would be a 6 sided polygon. The polygon can be dimensioned/resized from apex to apex but it would be nice to be able to resize using selective dimensions like those shown below.
I have just worked out how to do the horizontal dimension i.e. by default the bounding box is based on the height of the element so you have a gap left and right of the element, by converting the element to a curve the bounding box clamps to the width as well as the height which now enables accurate resizing along the horizontal plane but it would be nice to be able to resize by the 6 facets (the external vertical arrow)

I think I have the same issue with beta 11 - and I didn't have this before! I noticed that up to 3 files, they can be opened simultaneously - make them 4+, and you get stuck for eternity!

VictorFerma reacted to postmadesign in 1.4.2 Mac updates out now
I tried it today, but Designer seems to have become more laggy with more complex pixel brushes. I used the Pigmento brushes by DAUB in 1.4 and they worked fine there, now I get a delay especially when drawing faster. It does not seem to be a problem with the other brushes, like DAUBs free brushes, or the ones included in Photo. Any idea why??

VictorFerma reacted to R C-R in too many nodes after closing and joining two curves
@DWright
Your method works fine for two-node lines curved with the Node tool as you did at the 9 second mark. However, it does not work for two-node curves derived from other shapes. For example, consider the two red curves in the attached curves example.afdesign file. The top red curve was created from a pie shape as shown in the 4 step procedure at the bottom; & then duplicated, inverted, & snapped into position just as you did in the video:
Boolean adding the red curves results in a single "(Curves)" object consisting of two closed curves:
I get similar results for two-node curves derived from other shapes -- it isn't a unique behavior for Pie shapes.
The behavior is even weirder when trying to do as the OP did & using the join & close method. Among other things, joining but not closing the curves & then moving an end curve off of the coincident one & back onto it deforms the curve because the extended handle on the moved node snaps back to a sharp point:

VictorFerma reacted to MEB in Designer... how to make a simple straight line?
Hi Prodigy,
Select the Pen Tool, click once (don't drag or you will end up drawing a curve) on canvas where you want your start point, click again where you want you end point.
If want to restrict the Pen Tool to lines only, you can change the Mode in the context toolbar to Line Mode - which will draw a line with just a single segment. Polygon Mode lets you draw lines with multiple segments.
