Or even a simple search like "rounded rectangle" here in the forums, with the search scope set to everywhere, will find it within the first few search results. No need for an external web search.

Its interesting that I haven't had the problem before so why does the 'bug' appear now? Do bugs evolve?

    What’s the problem here?

As several mentioned earlier, it’s easy to make your own presets. You have already complain about this in other threads, so, Serif if already aware…

Pretty small problem - people in Ukraine & Israel/Gaza would be glad if their only problem was a tiny “bug” in Affinity Suite. Just sayin’…

You may be 'just saying' but well done! You have just given Serif a great reason for closing down this forum for being full of 'Pretty small problems' when there are much more serious problems in the world!

Back to the thread - I know I have mentioned it before but I don't always take the first 'NO' for an answer!

Why remove something that worked in order to get users to have to create a work-around to do the same thing? I kn

When the problem is that a list is too long, shortening it can be an improvement. And in this case, the items were apparently deemed not necessary, perhaps because they felt that the (presumably few) users who need them can easily add them back. Of course, those users would view it as a a reduction of function, even if other users are happier with a shorter list.

We can only wait and see whether 2.4 or some later beta restores them. But in the meantime, you can easily add them back or create a Template rather than using one of the Presets.

My answer to a list getting longer because of newer standard sizes and then improved it by removing that which previous was needed but now has become superfluous, is 'rationalization'. This is not the same as removing something that was previously needed. I can understand rationalizing a list of paper sizes that include sizes which are considered no longer standard. 'Foolscap' being a good example.

I think it was considered broken, as the list was long and unwieldy, and included too many options not needed by most users.

Removing some less-frequently used options was one of the "fixes" they made. The other was the addition of the Portrait/Landscape toggle, eliminating the need to define  presets twice (once for Portrait, once for Lanscape).

Neither fix seems to have been popular with some users who post here in the forums.

Let's take my argument a little further. When something is improved it usually has something added to it whether another part or feature or an improvement to that which is already existing but taking something away that was previously necessary is not an improvement its a digression.

From the way Serif staff refer to the "Developers" I do sometimes wonder if these "Developers" are actually staff employed by Serif, or if are they some sort of automatous group who answer to no one but themselves! I also wonder how many of these "Developers" actually have any practical experience of using the software in the real world.

Well said! I wonder how many of them know anything about graphics from a basic and first principles level!

You can add A0, A1, and A2 sizes to the list with about 60 seconds of effort. These are just presets so you can add whatever sizes you like. I recommend doing this in dark mode as the Save Preset As icon is invisible in light mode.

That's another problem icons are not plainly visible in whatever mode you are in. Why must they always be grey on grey? For ease of use the more contrast there is the better. However it may not be aesthetically pleasing but we must bow down to that!

Will we ever get back to a time when the obvious was obvious?

He did not promise anything other than to request the Developers to add them back (in other words, to reconsider their decision to remove those presets). And as there is a tag on this topic, he has done that. And all he said is "in a future update", which says nothing about when, even if the Developers agree.

With respect Walt, that's a pretty lame excuse! I get the impression that the developers live in a world of their own with only minimal acknowledgement to users needs.

  8. Can anyone tell me why in ADV1 ypu could choose a document size from one list all the way up to A0 yet in ADV2 you can only go up to A3 and then once you have the A3 doc size you are then offered the same list as in ADV1 to choose a larger size?

Also why did the developers think that changing it was a good move?

I can't imagine a curve would just expand itself and personally I've never heard this happen in any app I've ever used over the last, well lets say a lot of years, I really don't think it's a bug because bugs are repeatable and usually get reported by multiple people. The only way to know what happened would have been to look at the history prior to the expansion but if the file has been closed since the history will be lost.

I would have to suggest you put this down to the universe messing with you as there is no way to be able to recreate the event and unless others come forward with a similar happening it will simply be a unique unexplainable occurrence.

When a file is saved does its History get saved as well? If the file is opened and the History is empty how would that have happened?

It seems that you like contradictions, puzzles and guesses or jokes.

As an aside: "The advantage of using the British standard is that the line type definitions have largely been coordinated in their meanings across the Industries."

British Standards did not create a 'standard' for technical illustrations because it is an 'artistic' concept. It would like trying to apply a set of standards for paintings!

Although the OP asked a month ago if any of the Serif developers understood "engineering drawing", today they are more correctly talking about "technical illustrations", where the use of standards is freer after all 🙂 Although not using snapping is quite a shame, because it would the given illustrations gained in accuracy and precision.

Ads soon as Serif allow nodes and handle to be visible when moving a guide I will change my tune.

Be aware that there's a still unresolved bug carried over from v1 where strokes with "excessive" pressure curves go havoc when converted to outline, e.g. on PDF export.

Is there any special reason why you're using the Gaussian Blur layer effect on many of the curves? This will cause them to be rasterized on PDF export.

    Yes. It's pretty logical. ;)

You say its "logical" tell me why you think that?

Yes that's what I think however I will look to see if the History is still available.

  14. Yes I realise that is what it looks like but there is no reason for me to do that when doing this kind of drawing. There are several places on different illustrations where this has happened. In one case I was able to to change it back to a single stroke.

This is something that has never happened before!

I cannot repeat how I changed it back again to correct in another place. Do you have any suggestions?

Would this show up in its History?
