    Thank you Sean.

    AD getting tired?

A few times I've noticed that as I group, ungroup, move groups, copy and paste groups etc AD starts to have difficulty in selecting a group if I click on it. I solve this problem by saving the file and quitting AD. I then reopen AD, reopen the file and all is well again.

    AD getting tired?

OK I'll have a go when it happens again although I have never used QuickTime like this before.

    AD getting tired?

Next time it happens how would you like me to record it? If I just send you the file I imagine it would work OK on your computer.
  5. Does the PC version of AD have the same features as DrawPlus8 or are they only the same as the Mac version?
  6. OK so simply converting from DPcode into the AD code is not feasible. What is wrong with separately developing the same DP features for AD? You have already done that most of the AD features . Thesmissing DP features are very useful!
  7. Is it possible to 'lock' a group so that it cannot be ungrouped accidentally when ungrouping with other grouped objects?
  8. Can you understand this?
  9. Thanks for that and I'm glad you understood the question. However that is basically what I'm doing at the moment. I draw the circle at its correct size and then move two guides to touch either side of the circle. I then resize the whole group until the grouped circle fits between the guides.
  10. I did just try it and although it locks the group layer I cannot move the group which I would need to. So back to the drawing board!
  11. Actually this sound right. I could lock the group layer withing a larger set of groups. Without trying it I think this would solve my problem.
  12. Understood. This could be a good feature to add to the features list! There is another issue associated with this that I often have to deal with. Lets assume I have a serious of grouped objects which I later resize as a whole group (enlarge). I then make some changes to some of the objects and then want to resize (reduce) back to a size where one of the objects (a circle) needs to go back to its original size. Selecting the Infinity' symbol in the Transformation tab is a very good way proportionally reduce the whole group but I want to re-proportion the whole group back to the original size of the circle object. I would call this resizing 'Conditional resizing according to one object or one group'. This sounds really complicated so if you do not understand it I'm sure you will let me know.
  13. Of course! I tend to think of those as 'Adding' and 'Subtracting' shapes.
  14. OK I saw your emoticon! But you know what I mean - DP8 doesn't have all the AD features. I would have to use both to get the drawing I require.

    AD v DP8

I haven't got that far yet with experimenting between platforms. I do not expect every feature of either AD or DP8 to be compatible, just enough to do the required job for me.
  16. A few weeks ago I was bemoaning the fact that DrawPlus8 had a few features and tools that AD has not yet implemented. Someone suggested that I download 'Parallels' which would allow me to run DP8 from Windows on my Mac. This I did however it left an incompatibility between AD files and DP8 files. I was able to get round this by saving as a pdf in AD and then importing into DP8 to use its non-AD features. This is working quite well.
  17. I understand that but I'm trying to think outside the box so to speak. If there is a serious OS incompatibility between Mac and Windows why not offer the Windows AD with DP8 features. There must be many programs Mac/Windows programs that vary slightly in the way they work. I use a Mac version of a 'SolidWorks' reader that is different from the Windows version.

    AD v DP8

I do realise that there may be times when a pdf may not work between platforms. The main feature of DP8 that I use is the Dimension tool. I do the drawing in AD but use DP8 to add dimensions.
  19. Having installed Parallels so that I can use AD and DP8 on the same file I still cannot understand why DP8 features and tools are not going to be used for AD. One reason for this was that OS make it difficult. OK I accept that for the Mac version of AD but why can't DP8 features and tools be used on the Windows version of AD?
  20. OK. I'll stick with DrawPlus8 for the time being.
  21. I'll check this out to see if it can be done DrawPlus8.
  22. I am aware that there are at least two differences but for me DP is better then AD. I have been able to set up the Windows OS using a program called 'Parallel' on a 14 day free trial.
  23. I would be interested to know if there are any AD for Windows user who previously used DrawPlus? If so how would they compare them? This is an extension to a similar thread on AD for Mac.
