  1. Ok I created the short cuts but with a modifier key. Where do I save them? Is there a special folder for shortcuts?
  2. Thanks for the instruction. This is what happens when I tried this. I created an ellipse QS, changed it to 'Curves', created a node on the ellipse, selected in the context menu, 'Align to nodes of selected curves' then still using the node tool, dragged a guide from the left rule bar and it worked! But what doesn't work is that I couldn't drag an existing nearby guide with the node tool. Is this to be expected? This is one way of creating more guides than you need.
  3. Thanks for explaining how guide percentages work. How do I set up snapping so that a guide will snap to a curve node. I notice that snapping does include bounding boxes and their handles but not nodes.
  4. Thanks RC I have just found this out from another member. How do you set-up personlised snapping? PS Do you think you still have COVID?
  5. OK Gary. I was just trying to clear up in my own mind what percentages did and why! I still think it complicated in that there is too much information/features as there is in the snapping functions. That was one of my complaints about the Text tabs in AD v1.
  6. Hi Garry, Thanks for the heads-up on guide percentages. It seems a bit complicated and how would you use it in respect of accurate snapping?
  7. Thanks for this and your observation. IMHO snapping get in the way most of time for me and I'm constantly turning it on and off. The percentage option is interesting. How is it supposed to work as opposed to the alternative? When I opened my Guide manager and selected Percent it shows the guides as percentages. What does the percent figure represent? '
  8. How do I make sure that a guide will snap to a page centre and not an object that is close to the centre? I have all snapping options open except the 2 connected with pixels. Snapping candidate is set to 1. I assume that a 'Candidate' can also include a group. Referring back to my disappearing bounding box thread, would decreasing 'Screen tolerance' help me?
  9. Is there a way to enlarge file icons when searching for a file? It would be great if they were large enough to make-out what the file image was.
  10. Hi Walt, Yes I know that but you still have to jump through a few hoops to get there. I keep saying it wouldn't be a problem if the box didn't disappear each time. Also by changing the snapping settings you may remove previous snapping preferences.
  11. Hi Alfred. I have just found you're explanation to the Pressure problem and thanks for that. What you saying is if this happens again, as it has happened with ellipses, I need to create a new node halfway along the shape after converting to a curve then rotate it. Is the start and end node always red?
  12. Thanks for the 3 videos. That was a lot of work just to drag a guide to the ellipse! Far too many cursor movements and mouse clicks when all that was needed was for the selected ellipse bounding box to remain visible whilst dragging a guide. Whilst the ellipse is selected the bounding box is visible - it only disappears momentarily whilst dragging a guide and then appears again! All you are doing is trying to justify another more complicated way to do that which would be simple if the bounding just remained visible.
  13. Drag a guide to the minor axis of this ellipse. BTW I've got all the snapping options open except snap to margins the 2 pixel options. guides 2.afdesign
  14. I'm sure that could said of pretty much every new feature request that is made that someone else thinks id unimportant! Every request is thought to be useful by the person that makes it. Don't you think that is reasonable of them? Your remark is so obvious that I'm surprised that you even bothered to waste your time sending it.
  15. What I discovered was that it would be extremely useful to me to be able to move a guide without a bounding disappearing but I can't do that. I would like to hear people say, "Wow that's a good idea". But all I get is it can still be done by doing some extra moves or changing settings or your not following the rules!
  16. Well it looks like I've discovered something useful that nobody else has ever spotted before and because it doesn't follow the rules it isn't allowed to be considered. Check out my forum signature about what rules are for.
  17. I've taken your advice Walt and posted it on Feature requests referring to the exchange of views, but this would not be the first time I've done that. I even got into correspondence with one of the developers and Patrick Conner but got nowhere. If I remember the excuse wast that it reduced 'screen-clutter'. If tat was the case it reduced screen clutter for less than a second. Wow that's what I call real time saving for people is a hurry to get a job done.
  18. I agree Walt but a bonus on top of all that is to be able to move a guide without it disappearing. What is happening is that it is like a tool that has been invented that can drill holes, screw screws, use cutting discs and saw blades but it can also be used as a weight to hold something in place by virtue of its weight. It wasn't designed to do that but is still does it. Youtube is full of Life-Hacks for using tools to do things that they weren't designed for.
  19. It has been suggested from another forum member that I post this topic as a 'Features Request'. I do not have AD v2 but AD v1 so I believe that this request will also be for v2. There has been a lively discussion today and at various other times over the years regarding why object bounding boxes disappear when either dragging a new guide or moving a current one. I maintain that if the bounding box remained visible then position a guide to snap to the centre handles is easy. However with the handles disappearing it may require changing snapping settings. This is not always satisfactory as it can create snapping problems elsewhere. For example another snapping point somewhere on the work area that is almost coincident with a bounding box midpoint handle may grab the guide. I am merely asking not to implement some new that that is not current but to simply change the way an existing feature is displayed. How much code needs to be unwritten to do that? All the suggestions that have been suggested are all workarounds taking more effort to implement when all that is needed is for something not to disappear momentarily.
  20. Please explain why having a bounding box disappear when I move a guide is absolutely no use to me? If it was no use to me why am I asking the question? What is the purpose of a bounding box and its handles?
  21. Hi Bruce, How many times do I have to say this! You wouldn't need to do any of these things if the bounding boxes did not disappear!
  22. So its OK for you for you to ask Serif for something that probably doesn't currently exist but it is not OK foe me to ask for a change to something that does currently exist!
  23. It clear from the exchanges in this thread that although you think I have a closed mind to alternative suggestions, IMHO, it is like suggesting that if banging your head against a brick wall hurts then move the wall. I am disappointed that forum members cannot see that something so patently obvious is solved by creating unnecessary moves like moving the wall. I will quite now as my head is beginning to hurt!
