    Hi folks,
maybe this has been reported before. Look at the screenshot/affinity-file: the bleed of the blue rectangle is visible, the bleed of the pen-drawn object is not. What i´m doing wrong:-)?

Possibly View > View Mode > Clip to View, but actually it does show bleed content either way, clip mode just clips objects outside bleed. If you use artboards all extending outside artboard is hidden always, it seems.

Add the ability to resize multiple objects to a single size.
For example, when the "Transform Objects Separately" option is enabled, add the checkbox «[ ] Each», to make all selected objects take a single size from the «Transform» panel.

So far, in the current versions, objects resize relative to the selected object.

An absolutely essential Baseline Grid functionality is to align text with:
    «All Lines» or «First Line Only». Making a Magazine without the «First Line Only» is quite annoying.
Would be great if you could this essential layout feature implement in version 1.

    Hi guys,

I think Affinity is the future of design software. The one thing keeping me from switching from Adobe to Affinity is the scripting/automation feature. I have a bunch of scripts running in Photoshop and Illustrator and can't think about switching to Affinity and doing things manually again. You probably got this request earlier, but I'm just signaling the importance of automation/scripting in design software

I hope this feature will appear soon

It would be very nice if you could collapse all layers at once in the layers panel. Layers become very difficult to work with when you have many of them since selecting objects expands the parent layer, so you have to scroll back up and manually collapse them yourself.
Perhaps you could have it so that layers are only expanded for as long as the item within it is selected? That way, after deselecting an object, the layer expansion goes back to its previous state, which is ether expanded or collapsed. Am I making any sense?

nodeus reacted to Jim Monson in Naming guides
In a document that has multiple guides for various texts and/or objects, the guides appear in their position order which is already helpful. However, the only way to know what guide goes with what objects or texts is to actually move the guide since when I click on the guide it is not highlighted in the Guide Manger. It appears that one must remember what guide position number goes with what set of objects or texts, and when there are many guide that becomes quite a challenge..
Perhaps it is expecting too much, but is there any way that the user could name each guide or set of guides in order to identify it for quick reference, such as your light print reminders in the layer panel telling us what the layer is following the name we can give to the layer? It would also be helpful to be able to sort layers according to their use on the page. Just dreaming....

My wish list to improve Affinity software (first suggestions):
    - Keep all export settings "from the last time", even between all apps.
    - Photo: open dialogs (adjustments, filters, effects ...) with default values instead of zero, so I can see directly what happends (on/off in preferences)
    - bring CMYK swatches
    - print and export more pages on one page (eg. 6 business cards on one page)
    - copy outline and filling from one object to another
    - speed up color selection with the mouse: left for filling, right for outline color
    - bring a slider next to text frames for line space
    - convert artic text to frame and frame text to artic text
(I miss this and much, much more because I've switched from Corel)

I would also like this to be settable as a default option for paste.
I rarely want to paste with formatting. For now, I've altered the keyboard shortcut so that Command+V has a binding to Paste Without Format instead of Paste. I guess that's an OK solution for me, but I imagine lots of others will never do that.

nodeus reacted to Jocarnail in Features I would need for my workflow (and would love to see implemented)
    Hey everybody,
As an hobby I write and publish material for TTRPGs, working mostly on my own. I usually prepare my publications using the Adobe suit, or sometimes Latex — which I use a lot, but mostly for other stuff — but some time ago I decided to give Affinity a chance, and bought Photo, Designer and Publisher.
The suit would be perfect for my workflow: I do digital paintings and vector graphics and I like to be able to use them easily in my text editor of choice. What I have seen since of the softwares is really great. I especially love the consistency and integration between the three softwares. I would like to move my workflow from the Adobe suit to the Affinity one.
However, there are some features that I use a lot in InDesign that aren't implemented in Publisher and that I wasn't able to replace with consistent and comfortable features of Publisher. I think that as a whole the three softwares still cannot replace my workflow — jet — even if they are amazing. I would like to suggest here some of the features that I would like to see implemented, that I believe would be a great improvement — at least for how I work.
Copywriting persona: The ability to work on text passages in isolation is of the utmost importance in my opinion. If I am working on a complex layout I need to be able to work on the text alone, and only on it. It would also be useful to be able to control the single passages of text, like if they were layers; import and export them, work on the single sections and move them around. This, imho, would improve significantly the ease of use of the software. Link text and md files: As an addition to the previous point. I often write my texts outside the program I use to layout, and I would love to be able to import the text as a resource, keep working on it, and have the changes done in Publisher also in the original file. I work a lot using markdown, which I usually then have to convert to paragraph styles semi-manually, and support for it would be a great feature. "Nested Styles" and GREP styles: Here I am using the Adobe names for it, but I use this feature all the time. I use them to create dynamic paragraph styles — that, I will admit , are more relevant in my field of publishing. I especially use them to give specific character styles to some parts of text, either using specific separators/end characters, or searching for specific bits/tags. It is very handy to be able to control and change them and apply them to all the text automatically. "Object Styles": I think this is another feature I miss a lot in Publisher. The ability to assign settings to an object, be it a text frame, picture, table etc. and update them for all assigned objects. I use it a lot for pictures wrapped with text, because I am not going to know right away how much space in between I want. I may change my mind while working and having to go back to every single picture is a nightmare. Sure, Styles in Affinity sort-of do the trick, but they are not linked to the objects and it is not possible to modify them directly. I think it would be great to be able to do so. Having a collection of all setting related to an object. It would also be great to be able to treat them as text styles, and have base styles, and styles based on that. This are my thoughts right now on the suite. I still think I am going to try and work more with Affinity, because there are many many things to love. I have worked a bit with Designer, and found it very good. I like Photo for digital painting but I wouldn't mind paying extra for a dedicated "Affinity Painter" if it were to push out better features than PS for digital drawing. I decided to buy the softwares even if I may not use them as my main tools because I saw potential in them, and wanted to support this developing company.
I can't wait to see were the next updates will lead them.

I know there's a way to measure a distance from an object, but is there any way to measure a distance between two points on the canvas?

I.e., say I have a closed irregular shape, and I want to measure a certain distance from one of its perimeter lines to a point within. I can't select the object and press Command to measure, since that only gives me the distance from its outermost component to a different object (if any) within.

But if the object is irregular and I want to measure from a part of it closer to its center to a point (not object) within--our outside it, for that matter--this method fails in two regards--the measurement doesn't start from that inner line, and there's no second object to measure to.

I was hoping for a tool that simply measured the distance between any points A and B.

It would be desirable to include basic CAD tools in a future version. Just straight line tool, Compass to draw circle and arcs, dimensioning both straight lines and angles. I think this would make the drawing package more useful even though the app is an illustration app. Especially so in the MAC platform.

I would also like to add my name to the petition for bitmap and duotone capability. I can't see any reason not to have it and the sheer volume of print that uses both, makes Affinity effectively unusable in many situations in the print world.
Adding the capability would open Affinity up for a huge number of designers and illustrators who currently have little other option than to carry on with PS. Including me.
