I would like Sreif to bring back "real" vector brush from DrawPlus to Affinity.
Affinity's vector brush is actually a raster brush stroke with a curve, pseudo vector brush.
Why this has been changed when Affinity was developed?

It is the same issue. It is caused by pinned objects (which are either In-line or Floating). Clicking on the In-line option actually displays the Pinning Panel. I've passed it on to the Publisher team to investigate.

Not Pinned I think. Pinned Object is only available in Publisher, isn't it?
And you called it "inline in text."

@ashf Yes, 'Find & Replace' will be essentially the ability to select with much more specific filtering, then an optional 'Replace' that you can specify attributes to replace them with. This will come later. Initially, a simple ability to select objects with the same fill, geometry, stroke, etc will give the app the majority of the functionality users are requesting

The first version will be very simple but functional - along the lines of Illustrator, as mentioned by MikeW. It will not be a Find + Replace, that will come later. It will be, as stated, a 'Select Same' with a number of variants and easily assignable to keyboard shortcuts for productivity's sake...

There are more than 2 million Affinity users already, so yeah I think it wouldn't be so difficult.
I too would commit to the campaign.

I can tell you that 'Select Same' is one of the next things I'm going to be implementing...  

In that case they could make IDML's code, a little bit more complicated.

I know vertical writing takes a time but Affinity user group in Japan is receiving enormous amount of request for vertical writing.
Everyday people tell us "I want vertical writing, that's all I want!"
So the development schedule/status is really sensitive information.

I suppose IDML is simplified version of indd that doesn't have all functionality indd has for interoperability.
Like XML file pro video editing apps have for transferring a project from one app to another but does not have all functionality that native file format has.
 

Our next beta of Affinity Publisher (build numbers > 1.8.4.649) will have changes/improvements in the area of punctuation, but we think this specialist area will need further improvements in the future.

I know I can achieve it by closing open curve, but Illustrator does it and it's useful.

I assume you should just disable "スペル設定" in "プレフライトプロファイル", "不足グリフ" also.
Affinity doesn't have Japanese dictionary and will not like Adobe doesn't either.
To Serif:
Spell checker is basically unnecessary for Japanese documents.
But sometimes it contains some English(or some other language) words...

Easy fix is that disabling the spell checker for Japanese text by default.
Ideal solution is that having the spell checker ignores Asian words without disabling it like Adobe's.
 

Thanks for the file ashf but I still cannot get the crash. I will ask the team to try and reproduce so we can get it logged.

I see, I don't know Arabic at all.
But I'm just helping RTL language people to solve the inconvenience somehow since I too have similar inconvenience.This is just a trick as temporary solution.
Honestly Serif should solve this problem at once ASAP.
 

Addition to Big Tree said, left alignment should work and justified alignment shouldn't be required .

Any of East Asian language(except Mongolian) should just break lines at the right edge of text frame.
Whether if it's middle of a word doesn't matter.

Hello! First of all thank you guys for having developed this wonderful suite, I bought all three software on my Macbook Pro and my win10 desktop. They are really brilliant in many ways, but there is one thing that frustrated me a bit. Based in China with this East Asian background I have to deal with lots of vertical texts, in Mainland China vertical layout texts in books or magazines have become much less popular since the new regime made decision to assimilate to the West, however these years I have seen many people of young generation have picked up the old tradition in their works i guess might be Japan/Taiwan/Hong Kong cultural influence that made them to rediscover the old fashion China style. Anyway I am still able to make vertical Chinese/Japanese/Korean layouts, just very inconvenient. What I am doing now is type text in horizontal text frames and then edit them to be vertical and I give up if there are loads of words.
 
I hope if possible I will be able to directly type in vertical CJK texts like in Word/Pages or Japanese version of Indesign. thanks. And if this function is still there just me not knowing it please tell me lol. Wish you all the best, I really appropriate.
