ashf reacted to Yodel in Combining multiple masks on a layer
I found a solution:
the blend mode "erase" is much better suited for this. I added 2 objects into the image, not as masks but the indent nesting method. Then set the objects to erase and they will only affect the image they are nested in.

Group the mask objects. then apply.

ashf reacted to Larryh in Add a setting panel to recolor object(s)
Similar to this:
The idea is to add a setting panel for colors that allow to edit the color of gradients, and objects in general, simultaneously or singular
Adding other options for the settings, as saturation or brightness
Most important for SVG format files

You may or may not be glad to know that if you have a keyboard and mouse connected to your iPad that method now works on the latest V1.9.1 betas for Designer and Photo.

+1
Figma is #1 UI design/prototyping tool now. Figma support is important.

P.S.
Figma consider this problem is on Affinity side.

ashf got a reaction from Joachim_L in thin border around the clipping curve
Thank you. the border is not visible when the precise clipping is on, but visible in exported PDF both case.
So I guess I just need to avoid this type of clipping maybe?
-
ashf reacted to Joachim_L in thin border around the clipping curve
@ashf Please check if Preferences >> Performance >> Use precise clipping is active. If not, activate it. In my case, the line is barely visible if activated and not exported e.g. to PDF.

ashf reacted to Sivadharshan in Auto Layout and Design System Library
Hello all!
Contrary to usual belief that only Adobe XD, Figma, Invision are great at UI design, I have a strong feeling that Affinity Designer has more scope to grow because it has a lot more to offer. Designer is intuitive, has WAY MORE control over curves than the popular UI design tools and is a complete design software while the others just barely are one. Affinity sure doesn't have prototyping, but otherwise it is a killer application for UI development, because I get to work with things as small as the pixel perfection of icons in the UI to something as broad as having symbols, constraints and even re-usable assets.
According to me, Adobe XD, Figma, etc., are "Tools" but Affinity Designer feels like a (end-to-end) "Solution" to all UI design needs.
But I believe there are two little things that Affinity Designer currently needs to do to make the life of a UI designer better:
1. Auto Layout: Affinity's Constraints feature is amazing. It is simple yet very effective when it comes to UI design in Affinity Designer. But it lacks when I add text, that will be changed at different instances, as an element inside constraint group. The text flows into the group and there is no option to set the basic padding beyond which the container resizes according to the height/width of the text that is set to auto layout. Same thing happens when I need any design element to resize according to the padding and not just as a relative size of the parent container.
2.Design System Library: This is a simple one. I'm not sure if this is very important but here I go. I know .afassets, .afpalatte & .afbrushes exist. But it will be awesome if we can combine those files and send it out as one file, a .aflibrary for example, that when loaded, loads up the .afassets, .afpalatte & more at once. This could also mean something to other designers as well. Say the designer develops a icon system, brush style, color palatte and a highlighting system (quotations and more) for a book, he/she, just has to send the ".aflibrary" file to a co-designer (or even if he/she sells that design system) that loads all the required assets into the respective panes at once.
Hope this is a usefull suggestion.
Have a great day everyone!
EDIT: Also, it will be great if the above mentioned ".aflibrary" file also gets saved along with the normal affinity file unlike the other asset files like afassets afpalatte and so on. This saving together could be an option like saving history.

ashf got a reaction from APW-Design in Antialias gap on export with raster format
I know seeing antialias gap between attached objects on editing screen is normal.
But at least I would like you to improve gap problem on export with raster format such as PNG/JPG.
(Without aligning to pixel grid, aligning to pixel grid won't work for tile pattern design/symbol sometimes)
Adobe IIlustrator has no gap on both editing screen and exported raster file.
What kind of magic they have?

Yes please add this behavior.

ashf reacted to Franz666 in Copy paste vector to Figma
I would like that when I copy-paste an object from Designer to Figma, it shoud remain a vector rather than being converted to an image. Note: with Illustrator it remains an (editable) vector, very useful.

ashf reacted to erchdk in Print document crashes Designer and Publisher 1.9.0
@ashf If I open the same designer document in Publisher and press print it crashes. I do not recall if creating spreads based on Designer artboards or not makes a difference.
But if I make a document in Publisher with multiple pages/spreads I have not experienced problems. Not sure what the issues are.

ashf reacted to srg in Clicking at a spare channel triggers a mask
When I click a spare channel, to add it to a pixel selection for example, a black mask appears and I must click to the toggle quick mask icon to return to the image.
By the way, it is absurd in my opinion that clicking a selection channel does not highlight it leaving to guess which one is selected. This has been posted long ago and long ago submitted to the team. It is counterproductive to come out with new features when the basics do not work smoothly.

ashf reacted to ziplock9000 in Remember last export Area selection.. or set a default
I do a lot of exporting, and I have to change this option every time and it's annoying.
Please make this remember the last option you picked or have a default you can set?
(The exports are on new objects so a slicing workflow would not help)

ashf got a reaction from Pauls in Suggestions for Japanese UI
Why the translation of "View" menu changed from 表示 to ビュー?
Adobe uses 表示, so previous translation was better.

This is the most confusing message that has been around since a long time ago.

"Register your app" panel on startup,
再度表示しない is proper translation for the "Don't show me again" button.
-
ashf got a reaction from Pauls in Suggestions for Japanese UI
On Mac, the translation of "Fill:" is cut off.(Move tool)
It supposed to be "塗りつぶし:", not "塗りつぶ"
Or 塗り might be better for the translation of "Fill" since Adobe uses Fill = 塗り、Stroke = 線

ashf got a reaction from loukash in Dividing a shape(closed curve) with lines(open curve)
You can do this in Inkscape which is free.
Or add very thin stroke to lines and expand stroke. so you can use Geometry as usual.
Though it leaves a gap along the cutting line.
