  1. Is it possible to save changes to afphoto/afdesin file directly in Publisher? Changes are saved to only afpub, linked documents won't be changed.
  2. Yes, that should be one of problems. English developers don't use computer with multilingual setup(except European languages), so they don't know how to type Asian language. Thus they can't figure out what's the problem. Also implementing Asian specific text feature is very niche among developers who is native English speaker. (Though It's common among Asian developers) They usually don't know much about it, only Asian developers know. So probably an Asian developer familiar with it teaches/guides Serif how to implement it would be good.
  3. Yes I know, probably you saw I posted on their topic. But I think It's too few. Problem is that it's not just about vertical text but all text related feature. Affinity doesn't even handle horizontal text properly. There are so many bugs and luck of feature. And Serif staff often says they don't have an environment to test or know how to handle. I suppose an Asian engineer is needed for them and we may be able to arrange, also we can cooperate testing directly but just on this forum. Without decent typography feature, Affinity is unusable as a graphic/publishing app, it's a must. They can't sell such thing as a pro app.(or can't claim "pro")
  4. Curve is curve, not text. They've been converted into a curve(outline) in the original software created it. Nothing you can do.
  5. Yes, generally this forum is good but there isn't much people here who are using Affinity in an Asian language environment. We have more than 100 users in our group and planning to communicate with Serif sales team. If all East Asian users can join forces and request what we need to Serif, it would be nice. Serif may consider Asian language support is low priority because they think there isn't much Asian user I guess. But think about our population, China is 1.3 billion and Japan is 120 million, which is hard to ignore. It's just that there isn't much people who speak English.
  6. Or Phantom PDF or Power PDF. https://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf-editor/ https://www.nuance.com/print-capture-and-pdf-solutions/pdf-and-document-conversion/pdf-converter-mac.html
  7. @toutou123Do you know any Affinity user group in China by any chance?I would like to share information each other regarding Asian language problem.
  8. @loyukfaiDo you know any Affinity user group in China by any chance?I would like to share information each other regarding Asian language problem.I belong to a Japanese Affinity user group and we are having same problem with Chinese.
  9. @Shi LichuanDo you know any Affinity user group in China by any chance? I would like to share information each other regarding Asian language problem. I belong to a Japanese Affinity user group and we are having same problem with Chinese.
  10. I recommend Topaz Labs AI Gigapixel instead if you haven't bought it. https://topazlabs.com/gigapixel-ai/
  11. Publisher is an alternative to Indesign, not Acrobat. PDF Expert / PDFpen / PDF Element would be an alternative to Acrobat https://pdfexpert.com https://smilesoftware.com/pdfpen https://pdf.wondershare.com/
  12. I believe It will be coming to Windows soon. But not Metal since it’s Apple proprietary tech. May be DirectCompute or Open CL.
  13. This article mentions that hardware acceleration is coming to Windows soon. Is this already available on 1.7.1 or coming to 1.7.2 or later? https://www.dpreview.com/news/2037962810/affinity-photo-1-7-brings-hardware-acceleration-hdr-support-and-more
  14. Would be nice if AP could straighten distorted object while cropping an image like Photoshop. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/crop-straighten-photos.html It's useful for an image of buildings/documents
  15. No, the same font are used for both Asian language and English in most of case.
  16. The text in the original post was set to English(Refer attached image) There is no selection for Chinese/Japanese in the language list, but I enabled "East Asian feature" in the Type setting. That's how I created the text on Adobe.
  17. How about special hyphenation rule that ignores non-alphabet characters for Asian languages? (But specify certain language to alphabet characters such as English - to entire content) I suppose Adobe is doing so. Basically alphabets are for foreign words in Japanese or Chinese. It's easy to judge what to target.
  18. P.S. "SEÑOR CITIZEN" layer is a warped text. It seems it's not possible to bring it to Affinity as text.
  19. Does this mean I have to set a style to each English word/sentence? Adobe's does this automatically without setting manually.
  20. Please make hyphenation for English words in Asian language possible. If I enable hyphenation on Asian text, text style will be totally broken. Adobe's can hyphenate only English words in an Asian language.(Refer attached image)
  21. No worry, I'll keep pushing the dev team to implement full multilingual capability into Affinity. Thank you for giving me the tip, anyway.
  22. Yes I learned from your previous post. but there will be hundreds of Tate Chu Yoko style in the content if I create a book/magazine/newspaper, so it will be difficult to handle them. There're crazy complex layout rules called "JIS X 4051" in Japan. https://www.w3.org/TR/jlreq/ All of Adobe software has Tate Chu Yoko as built-in style. https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/formatting-cjk-characters.html
