  1. First of all, thank you for implementing Asian line breaking rules even though it's still immature.
I will be reporting issues about it here.

The first problem I found is that the rules don't work with directional quotation “”

This is the rules that Microsoft Word uses

    Japanese

    Can not start line:
    !%),.:;?]}¢°’”‰′″℃、。々〉》」』】〕ぁぃぅぇぉっゃゅょゎ゛゜ゝゞァィゥェォッャュョヮヵヶ・ーヽヾ!%),.:;?]}。」、・ァィゥェォャュョッー゙゚¢

    Can not end line:

    !%),.:;>?]}¢¨°·ˇˉ―‖’”…‰′″›℃∶、。〃〉》」』】〕〗〞︶︺︾﹀﹄﹚﹜﹞!"%'),.:;?]`|}~¢

    Can not end line:
    $([{£¥·‘“〈《「『【〔〖〝﹙﹛﹝$(.[{£¥

    This is Adobe's
I guess this is better than Microsoft's since most designers are used to Adobe's
And a reason it's slightly different from Microsoft's can be because Adobe targets Unicode only.

    Both Japanese & Chinese

Inseparable character - can 't be broken when repeated like ………
    —‥…

Hanging punctuation - can stick out to outside of the text frame if it's at the right edge.

Ashf, I think I may have over raised your expectations of the changes that can reasonably be expected in version 1. We will do what we can but these changes you are referring to are going to take a long while to match. Also I follow this thread, so no need to @ me

It's ok. I just explained you the final form of feature we need.
But would be nice if you could implement simplified version of it at first.
For example, Word has line breaking rules and word spacing rules that's simple and yet usable enough.
Basically Japanese word spacing rules compress spaces only on Latin characters and symbols.

    Dialogs?

FreeHand's GF&R (if that's what you're referring to) was not dialogs. It was a dedicated non-modal palette. And it was not at all onerous to use for simple "select same" functionality. Even when selecting objects of the same value, it was right there, on my second monitor, already configured with the settings I need. I didn't have to repeatedly dig down to a second-tier sub-menu under the primary menu bar each and every time I used one of its options.

I think MikeW means like Adobe's which is a modal dialog but Freehand's

    Hi both,

it has something to do with that image. It's not every image with transparency so must be something specific. Can you attach a screen recording of your workflow in Photo so we can try to replicate it here? Also, can you zip and attach that PNG?

Open an image then move the pixel layer until you see transparent area then export.
Here's sample png -  one is the original, one is exported by Affinity with transparency.

How did you create then export that file from APhoto (the settings?)

Also, is this a one-off or can you reproduce it with any file you export from APhoto?

At the moment I cant reproduce what you are seeing when I use a file I have exported from Aphoto

it's a png exported with default png preset.

Edit: I noticed that it happens when the image has transparency.
