Personally I don't use vertical layout much but yes, it's very, very common for Chinese, and that includes peoples in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Yeah, me too. I mostly work with website related thing so vertical writing is not necessary.
But since almost 100% of publications including media such as book, magazine or newspaper in Japan is using vertical writing so people always put Affinity down just because of it.
Really pain to see it. I wish vertical writing didn't exist.

Doesn't seem to work. Worked with a couple lines, but any more than a handful and it goes wonky. If combining a number of lines, they seem to join ends and make a funky pattern.

I suppose this is the wrong forum because it's a different company's app though. I'll keep looking into it.

As far as I know cutting dozens of lines works at least.
But it may not work in a complex situation.

I think it would be better to just use clipping path on lines to make them look like it's cut.
Something like the picture you posted may be too complex.

I have DISABLE  ` Use Windows Ink for table input `  and now it works fine! I have read on this forum that I need to have it enable because Affinity requires it.

There are two methods for pen input on Windows 10. WinTab(classic) and Windows Ink(modern)
if you disable Windows Ink in Affinity, WinTab will be used which is not accurate and fast compared to Windows Ink.
In order to use Windows Ink in Affinity, you have to enable Windows Ink in your Pen Tablet driver.

Preselecting a brush preset only works with brush-based tools, so it doesn't work with the Pencil or Pen Tools or with quick shapes like rectangles, cogs, or stars.

However, if you just want to preselect the stroke color attributes, you can do that using the Defaults > Synchronize defaults from selection button on the toolbar, or via the Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from selection menu option.

There are people who want to switch a variety of stroke styles quickly, so would be nice if there was preset feature like brushes.
I already posted feature request as another topic.

I am having similar issue also....with mouse as well as with pen.
With the mouse: I click Alt+right mouse button and I get a little double circle for hardness and width but I actually have to also click the left mouse button at the same time to get width or hardness to change

With Pen: I click Alt+right mouse button and I get a little double circle for hardness and width. Moving left/right/up/down does nothing and if I touch the pen tip to the tablet my computer gives off a bell tone and my double circle disappears and changes to a single circle. I have a "New Huion 1060 Plus" from 2016 so that might be the issue but I have updated to the latest driver that works with my tablet. I have absolutely no problem for zooming if I set a button to "z", I can touch the tablet and move back and forth to zoom in or out.
I only wish there was a way to reset the brush width/hardness key shortcut. And using the [ or ] makes such small incremental changes to brush size. Why would the "Alt+right button" be hard coded into the product while there are many others that users can change?

    Kinda Frustrating.

Try to disable Windows Ink option in Affinity's preferences.
