No special reason but often I'm still comfortable with destructive way in many situation. To finish a task quickly, I rather want to use destructive editing instead of non-destructive editing by creating clipping mask or other way. Gradient tool has the same behavior for both vector and pixel layer except Bitmap type. Naturally I expected the same behavior for all layer type. and probably many other users will too I think.

They're just being lazy about creating English info. DragProtrace itself has English UI. Download from here. http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/sato-akira/dragpotrace/DragPotrace_10.15.2.zip And use Google Translate for more info. https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&tl=en&u=http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/sato-akira/dragpotrace/

FYI if you're a Mac user, DragProtrace is easier to install. no Java needed. http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/sato-akira/dragpotrace/

Agree, Catalyst apps are little inconvenient since it requires newer macOS. But I tried Vector Q on my iPhone and it's decent. Unlike Adobe Capture, there are some adjustable parameter and app itself has vector editing features. Good alternative to Adobe Capture if it doesn't work for what you need.

There're other nice images tracer that's affordable Vector Q Mac https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vector-queue/id1448103717 iOS https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vector-q-by-imaengine/id599309610 Vectorize!(Mac&iOS) https://www.syniumsoftware.com/vectorize DragProtrace - already mentioned earlier in this thread is still being maintained and runs on Big Sur unlike other Protrace GUI apps http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/sato-akira/dragpotrace/

Repeating bitmap(fill) on pixel layer
ashf replied to ashf's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Yes I know how do with other way. Please read my comment on this topic. It's about UX. or Bitmap fill should be removed from pixel layer. -
I know how to do with the way you guys mentioned. But I just had a question why there isn't repeat option on pixel layers. I was expecting the same option for all layer type, and I think that's natural and consistent in term of UX. If users should not use Bitmap fill on pixel layers because it's destructive editing, it should not be available in the first place.

Suggestions for Japanese UI

Snapping Manager: Snap to object bounding boxes = オブジェクトのバウンディングボックスにスナップ Include bounding box mid point = バウンディングボックスの中間点を含める バウンディングボックス is better than 境界ボックス as the translation for "bounding box" since Adobe uses it- 112 replies

"Locally" means Photos? or Files? -
I don't know one. But I'm doing it by Installing public beta version. I can open two Affinity at once. one for English. one for another language. So I can compare feature name side by side.

Procedure to reproduce the problem: 1. copy an artboard. 2. create a new document. 3. paste the artboard into the new document and deselect it. 4. Use artboard tool to create new artboard. Then you get this error "Artboards can not be added to a document with master pages or multiple pages" This topic may be related to this issue.

Suggestions for Japanese UI
ashf replied to ashf's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
Question about the shape tools. You call them "geometric shapes" on the Help. https://affinity.help/designer/en-US.lproj/pages/CurvesShapes/about_geometricShapes.html Is this official term for shapes created with Shape tools? Or you just used "geometric" as an adjective? you often call a geometric shape just "shape." Calling both hand drawn shapes and geometric shapes "shape" is confusing. I want to make it clear to use proper word to explain them.- 112 replies
