Has V2 fixed Affinity's biggest issues?
ashf replied to Kal's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
Like loukash linked, that's the way Serif hires a engineer and they don't outsource to outside of the company, as far as I know. -

According to what Serif said they don't hire people outside of UK. Staff must live in there, in order to accomplish made in UK...lol -
The Zoom/Rotation right click menu is not shown once I start adding objects. Only the object manipulation right click menu is shown. This happens on both Mac/Win.

Exporting .png STILL does not remember area
ashf replied to LostInTranslation's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
No, this is not a bug and it's by design since V1. But there has been multiple requests for it including mine. https://www.google.com/search?q=export+remember+area+site:forum.affinity.serif.com -
No, the case I noticed is that a child layer often vanishes or has an artifact when the Gaussian filter is applied to itself or the parent.

Garbled Characters / Maybe Wrong Font Displayed

It could be related to the fallback font problem also. -
CJK support?
ashf replied to Watanabe Carcass's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
According to what Serif staff said before, the text engine need to be rebuilt in order to fully support non-Latin languages including CJK. It will be a huge project and it's hard to estimate when it will be done. Also the number of Asian language users seems to be too low compared to the number of European language users. So I suppose it's not near future. -

This happens only on Ventura. Turn off サンプルを表示 from the panel option menu. -

FYI, the glyph rotation feature can be used as a temporary solution for the vertical writing if you can not implement the vertical writing in the near future. This can benefits the Latin typography as well.

I saw an article that's the press release by Ash for the V2 on a Japanese media. https://www-itmedia-co-jp.translate.goog/news/articles/2211/16/news129.html?_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp It's a good news that he says he will expand marketing in Japan. On the other hand, I have a concern. Unless you advance the implementation of Japanese typography support in Affinity, you may just waste the marketing budget. Because all Japanese want in Affinity is Japanese typography support, nothing else. They think that's the only thing missing in Affinity and they say they don't use Affinity unless it supports Japanese typography. So it's the show-stopper. I understand that vertical writing takes time and costs to be implemented, but leaving small problems like this topic unfixed is really not good. (Off course the vertical writing is essential though.) If you can't advance the implementation, you should not spend the money on marketing in Japan. That's my opinion.

Update to OCIO v2.0
ashf replied to theartofsaul's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop

But many popular apps are installed separately for each version. These coexists on the PC. Photoshop CC 2021 Photoshop CC 2022 CorelDraw 2020 CorelDraw 2021 The new version does not override the old version. Because the new version often has bugs for a while. people tend to keep the old version. Same goes for Affinity. I'll keep V1 for a while.
