10 Day Trial Period Too Short
markbowen replied to SantaFeBill's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
As above, you definitely will not be disappointed. I do come from a Photoshop background but am completely self-taught and can very very safely say that Affinity Photo can do pretty much nearly everything that Photoshop can do and most of it is done either better or much easier. Yes there are a couple or so features missing that everyone would love to have but then you can't have every single feature from every single App in one. There are always going to be items that other Apps have that another doesn't. That said, I've not found anything that I've not been able to do in Affinity Photo yet and I'm fairly certain I won't. It's a seriously impressive piece of software and testament to that is the computer that I'm running it on and the files I'm working with. Adobe Photoshop would literally keel over on my machine and explode if I tried the same sorts of things. Really hope you decide to got with Affinity but as Jeff has mentioned above they do then offer a 14 day money back guarantee if you need it so you're pretty close to the 30 days trial of other Apps anyway. I'm fairly certain you won't be disappointed though. Best wishes, Mark -
Too many brushes will not install
markbowen replied to BeverlyE's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Unfortunately not. Definitely an issue on desktop and has been confirmed. I've been re-creating so many brushes the past couple of days as can't install anything -
Too many brushes will not install
markbowen replied to BeverlyE's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Not sure if the iPad is having the same problem as the desktop versions but there is a known bug on 1.7.2 desktop that is preventing any brushes from being imported. They're looking into that now so hoping that might be the same thing with the iPad version. Best wishes, Mark -

When adding an adjustment layer you can click and hold on the button for the options to come up. When adding a Live Filter you have to click and let go for them to appear. Would rather it were the first option for both (click and hold) to keep the interface consistent as then you can click, hold, drag to what you want all in one easy movement. Thanks, Mark Sorry video attachment possibly doesn't show this as easily as just trying it out. Buttons.mp4

Stretch/Transform seamless?
markbowen replied to kjs's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Ah crikey!! I'd been trying to do it with the layer locked!!! :-) That would definitely explain it!! Best wishes, Mark -

Hi, Not sure if this has been requested before or not but would be nice if when creating (for example) a new brush group that a name dialogue came up for the group so you could name it there and then. Currently it just names all new groups Brushes and then you've got to remember to go back in after to change the name. As we can't import any brushes at the moment due to the bug I've been having to re-create a lot of my brush sets by hand (no mean feat at all) and this would just speed up the process no end. It would obviously be a help even not in this instance though. It's possible there might be other places in the interface where this would be useful too. Thanks, Mark

Blurs applied to group not maskable?
markbowen replied to markbowen's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Ah okay thanks. Glad you're aware of it as it's really limiting what I can do (and I'm guessing others too) so hoping for a fix fairly soon Tell the Dev guys they're doing an absolutely stellar job though and not to stop. Affinity Photo is definitely the killer app to Ado•e!! :-) Best wishes, Mark -
Brush modes when painting in masks…
markbowen replied to markbowen's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Hiya, Yep that's the way I've had to do it (by rasterising the mask layer). Definitely not the way I'd like to do it though. Hope this can get fixed soon. Best wishes, Mark -
Hi Poto, No problems at all. Best wishes, Mark

Blurs applied to group not maskable?
markbowen replied to markbowen's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Actually not sure if this is perhaps related also but if I apply say a motion blur to a group then it doesn't just affect that group it's also affecting any layers beneath it also which is a real pain at the moment as I have to merge down lots of layers in the group in order to be able to apply the blur (or whatever effect) to just that one layer. I haven't tried everything but it was also doing it with Levels and HSL adjustment layers too. I'm guessing it's possibly the whole suite of adjustment layers though which is a real shame so hopefully this can be fixed soon. Have attached a video showing what's happening. Actually can see it's when I have the highlights layer which is basically a black filled layer set to Colour Dodge and which just has white painted into it. If you switch this layer off then the blur only affects the group like it should be. As soon as that layer is turned back on again then everything beneath gets blurred too. Not too sure why though? Hi there, I'm sorry is one of those images yours then? Are you David Bartus? I have meant to put the links to the sources in but forgot. I will definitely start doing that in future. I'll probably (hopefully) be putting some tutorials together for how I'm creating these although I've never done that sort of thing before so it will be a steep learning curve. Also I had noticed his right eye (left as you look at him) was a little wonky but didn't want to change it as it's nature and nothing's perfect in nature. Well that's what I thought anyway Best wishes, Mark

Brush modes when painting in masks…
markbowen replied to markbowen's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Affinity Photo Mask Painting.mp4 Possibly mistaken although possible I'm doing something wrong or something wrong on my system? Video attached to show what is happening. When I paint with white over the black area of the mask then it shouldn't paint any white there. That's what you'd normally expect from painting with overlay mode set. Can anyone else confirm if this is happening to them? Thanks, Mark -
Hi Peter, Thank you very much for the kind words they're very much appreciated. Best wishes, Mark
