pdf export problems
Komatös replied to Lanalang's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi @Lanalang Which programme did you use to create the poster? Which PDF profile did you use for the export? -
@ Stezza Affinity Photo can't open .dwg format. But Affinity Designer can.

@KOT You have to buy them again!

What means lifetime by a software product? It means lifetime ends if there is a new main version. So Affinity suite V1 is EndOfLive. Adobe didn't feel sorry for their customers when they released a new version. Yes, there were discounted upgrades. But at that time there was no Apple Store/Microsoft Store. So Adobe could verify exactly who was eligible to update and who was not. At that time, customers who had purchased the software less than 90 days ago were eligible for updates. My recommendation: If you have recently bought version 1 of the Affinity programmes from Apple or Microsoft, you can ask them if you can get a discount on V2.

Embedded raw or Linked?
Komatös replied to JohnZeman's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I opened your file, changed the brightness and exposure. Output to RAW layer (linked), clicked develop and saved as .aphoto. Then closed Affinity Photo, opened the .aphoto file. With a double click on the image layer, the RAW file was opened again in the Develop Persona. If you want to try my file you should save it in the directory of the .dng file. 2020_0913_133755_148_developed.afphoto -
@mustafakar You are welcome!

Since Microsoft does not currently offer a patch for this bug in the .NET component, but you may leave security holes in your system by deleting the update, I recommend the following solution: Open the directory in which the Affinity programmes are installed. As a rule, C:\Programme\Affinity\(Desinger ...Photo ...Publisher) Search and open the .exe.config file (for example Designer.exe.config) with a text editor. Search for "<add key="IsVirtualizingStackPanel_45Compatible" value="true"/>" Replace the value true with the value false. Save the file (administrative rights are required to overwrite!) By turning off the compatibility, you may notice a reduced display speed when scrolling, but more likely not.

@did78 Your way of working is "unusual". Choose the selection brush. Set the brush size to a value that is not too large but also not too small. Roughly select the object to be cut out. You can remove areas from the selection that are selected but do not belong to the object by switching to subtract. Now you can click on Refine and refine the selection with an adjusted brush size. You have now the possibility to save the result in different ways. Photo_IsKLnX4bEA.mp4

I agree with @PaulEC. Why the hell do all photo, layout and DTP programs like Adobe's have to have the same functions? And believe me, Adobe looks very closely at how the functions in competitor programs are programmed. If they find just one thing in common with their code, then they will be hit with patent suits.

It would be nice to know if you use Windows or MacOS. -
V.2 installation location
Komatös replied to Radiorog's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
If the OS fails, it doesn't matter where the programmes are stored. After a reinstallation, the programmes have to be reinstalled anyway and all programme settings are gone. It would make more sense to regularly back up the directories with the settings files. -

@JonathanDoe Maybe this video helps! -
@ Berric I'm a Windows user, but I think you will find under File -> Import content on Mac too. Sorry, lost in translation. 😷
