  1. Hi @ttorimoto and welcome to the forum.

A typical Bitdefender false positive message. If you download the installers from Serif or the Windows Store, they are guaranteed virus-free..

My personal tip: throw Bitdefender in the garbage can, save money and use the Microsoft Defender included in Windows.

Are used photo shopped for 30 years but affinity paid is just different enough that I cannot make any headway using features that I’m used to having in Photoshop that seem real simple to me such as making a select rectangle and flooding it with white over a black background.

To fill a selection you should use the flood fill tool from the tools panel for this.

  3. Hi @ehbowen and welcome to the forum.

Please try it with hardware acceleration disabled in Affinity Designer.

To do this, hold down the CTRL key while starting Affinity Designer.
Uncheck all options and then check Disable Hardware Acceleration.

However, I personally think that the graphics card is the decisive factor here. The card is good for fast calculations in an optimized environment CAD/3D rendering/audio/video production.
But not for graphics-intensive applications or games.
However, I am happy to be proven wrong.

  4. Hi @JELF and welcome to the forum.

Serif has made a few changes to the hardware acceleration that can lead to 'unfavorable' effects with indeterminate hardware/driver configurations.

Disable the hardware acceleration under Edit -> Settings -> Performance and observe after restarting the program if the response time has improved.

Before you disable the hardware acceleration, please check if the AMD system drivers (chipset) and the NVIDIA gpu driver are up to date!

  5. Hello @Helmut O. and welcome to the forum.

Yes, it is possible to embed assets in documents.

To do this, click on the "Hamburger" icon with the Studio Assets tab open and select 'Embed in current document'.

This is what the help say:

Embed in current document—embeds the assets in your Assets Panel into your current document so that they can be accessed when opening the document later on a different computer (or on the same computer if assets were deleted). On opening a document with embedded assets, you're prompted if you want to import assets to your Assets Panel, making them available to all documents.
