I suppose that technically, they might need your permission in order to send you an e-mail to ask you if they could send you e-mails
Which does sound a bit

Try holding down the Ctrl key while you launch Photo. That will eventually give you the option of resetting things. That should do it.

How could you do that ? You have to have the gaps in order to keep the shape. You are effectively moving the parts of the circle (for example) apart, which immediately "steps" the circle.
You must include the gap as a gap to maintain the integrity of the circle. Same for anything, even an atomic reactor circuit diagram
That looks awful. Then again. lots of modern "art" looks awful

Like using a Gradient Map. You have a lot of control with a Gradient map
Note that you can save them as Presets (Add Preset)
"Green Brown" below
and apply the same settings to hundreds of photos.

Double click on one of the colour wells
to get this.
Use Swatches and you can make your own palette with a list of colours. You can call the colours what you want.
You can also use the Swatches menu to make a palette from the colours used in the open document, or an external document.
It's all in the burger menu

toltec got a reaction from Gabe in Win 7 compatibility
I am using a Windows 7 machine and have no issues whatsoever. You do have to enable Windows Aero though, or it wont work.
As far as I know, it wont work if you buy the Windows store version which is Windows 10 only, but if you buy from Serif it works perfectly.

The simplest way to avoid having other open apps visible behind Affinity is to hide them. You can do that from the Mac menubar using the 'Hide Others' item or with the keyboard shortcut CMD-Option-H.
Alternately, for a more flexible approach use the virtual desktop (a.k.a. Spaces) feature built into the Mac OS to run an Affinity app in its own space. One of the nice things about this is you can set a different desktop background for each space (open System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver while in that space), so for example you could use one of the Apple > Solid Colors > grays as a neutral desktop background for Affinity. As explained in the article, you can set an Affinity (or any other) app to always open in a specific space if you want.
If you don't want to be distracted by the Dock as well, you can hide it so it only pops up when you move the pointer to the edge of the screen.

toltec got a reaction from DianeF in Gradient Overlay effects
I did this in Designer.
If you create a rectangle, leave it selected and press fx in the layers panel to open the Layer Effects panel.
Tick Gradient Overlay (click on it too) and then click on the Gradient swatch. That will apply a gradient.
When you select a gradient control handle, change the colour by clicking on the swatch in the panel.
And there we are.
Use the various controls such as Angle, Scale or Offset to adjust things to suit.

toltec got a reaction from bry in new to affinity
If you are talking about Affinity Photo. it is in the healing group
hover over whichever of the tools is showing (it changes, depending on the last tool used) and select the inpainting tool.
If you are talking about Affinity Designer, there is no inpainting tool in Affinity Designer.

toltec got a reaction from tbone360 in Designer: Distressed look
I can suggest a very easy method. No need to convert the text to curves or do anything difficult.
If the bitmap layer is black and white, (using the black as the distressing or "erasing" bit for the letters) first of all turn the white into transparent.
It the Pixel Persona, Go Select > Tonal Range > Highlights and press the Delete key to erase the white,
Set the Layer Blend Mode of the image to "Erase" and the black will cut out the letters.
Supply the screen printer with a JPEG or PDF file.

toltec got a reaction from OdatNurd in Save custom page preset as a template?
You could do it if you use Artboards and Assets.
Draw rectangles the size of the pages you want, then add them to Assets, maybe in a category called Pages.
Drag them from the Assets panel and go Layer > Convert Object to Artboard. Voila, page templates in any size you want, all in the Assets panel.

Have you watched this ?
Note that you cannot cut out a part of an Image layer !!!
It must be a pixel layer.
If you create a path with the pen tool, you get this
on the toolbar.

toltec got a reaction from graphxlord in Problem with OPERATIONS and Font Scripts
You do need to be careful when using the erase mode. It can erase everything below it, not just the part of the letter, so it is not always a perfect solution.
For example, the hole in the b has been set to erase. It has also erased the background. The hole in the a is "normal" so does not.
There are also issues with using erase if you export the file as SVG. See what happens below.
It is not transparent, but white.
