Shouldn't do that roddy. This is set to about 700 points (Artistic text), cut and pasted between two .afphoto files, on top of an image layer. I tried a few different fonts. This is Frame text, also about 700 pt. This was a new text layer, drawn on top of an image

Fill sets the fill Stroke sets the stroke, colour or thickness Black fill, 3pt yellow stroke thicker stroke if you click on Scale with object it will change as you scale it

A line is already a vector. You can't vectorize a vector.

I know. But if you set the default to draw straight lines for some people, the people who want to draw shapes would say "Why is the Line Mode automatically selected when I click the Pen Tool" ? You can't please everybody

You can't. You have to use arrows in shapes. Lots of choices though.

Most people use the Pen tool to draw shapes.

You need the Snapshot panel in Studio The various Resets reset tool options that you changed, like panel positions. Default > Revert removes styles you applied to shapes etc. Not sure about Factory Reset.

Try using the Pen with the line mode set.

In Windows, it depends on the icon size

Some people (Americans for example ) don't speak English as a first language. They don't use Roman script or even write from left to right. I would imagine if you had to speak Arabic, write in Abjad from right to left you would keep it to a minimum too? And at least bulajap said Windows and Affinity Photo. It already does. This is for a Mac. It seems Shift is Matte, Alt is Background, Ctrl is Foreground. If you have selected Matte, Alt temporarily selects Background. Ctrl selects Foreground. If you select Foreground, Alt temporarily selects Background, pressing down Shift temporarily selects Matte. If you select Background, pressing down Ctrl selects Foreground. pressing Shift does temporarily select Matte. ********************************** Edit. You can do this with Boolean operations, I think I turned the B into curves "Divided" the B shape to make three shapes. Inner shapes coloured for emphasis. Drew a small rectangle. "Added" the three inner shapes and then "Subtracted" the inner B shape from the outer B That is one combined shape. All done using the menu commands, Layer > Geometry
