MEB got a reaction from cgartists in Dock panels in multiple columns
Character, Paragraph and other panels will be reworked (and able to be docked) as we move forward.
There's other issues/features that must be tackled first.

MEB got a reaction from Stephen_H in Affinity is NOT Adobe!
I also expect to have all this available in Affinity Designer. Most of the features described are fundamental in a vector application and others are great additions/suggestions, but that's not the point. We can't compare software applications as if they were comparable directly in the current circumstances (Affinity /Adobe). There's a little gap between the two: 25 years. A comparison between a version 1.0 versus v18.0 isn't fair. People talk about Affinity apps as if they were done. They aren't. We just started... :)
Brushes are already present on both applications because they share the same code, and because Designer will allow to mix both types of data: raster and vector. Since the code was ready to be included, it's there already. But, it doesn't define the scope of Designer or Photo; neither means the application's goals overlap. It's just a small part of both that's common. They will be defined more for what's have yet to come that for what's already there. If it seems that they look similar now it's because they share the same foundations. The differences will come with their growth. And for that we need time. The gap nobody seems to care about is precisely the point here.

MEB got a reaction from O. Chevetaigne in Output for Print
Hello Rolling Rook Studio,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Thanks for your feedback. There's still a considerable number of features for commercial/professional printing that weren't implemented yet. They are already on our roadmap and will be added as a free update. Currently we are also using Apple's PDF code for PDF export which explains some of the current limitations. Soon we will be changing to our own custom PDF exporter which should improve the PDF output considerably.
Some of the issues with lines you are describing are also known bugs that should be fixed soon.

MEB got a reaction from AshTeriyaki in Update the path action icons
Yeah, I always have to check which one is what too. I've tried to redraw some in Designer (cheating a little) and also reorder them (exchanged Join Curves with Close curve) since i believe it makes more sense this way. This is what I end up with:
The names could also change to:
Break node
Join Nodes
Smooth path
Close path
Reverse path

MEB reacted to My Strawberry Monkey in Business card
Designed in Affinity and sent of to the printers, arrived this afternoon, now off to deliver to my client. :D
Always good to see the progress and end results, no doubt more work will come from this and then its back to Affinity.

MEB got a reaction from Carlos in Mask question/help
Hi adamfarmer
The masking feature was improved and is now possible to achieve what you were trying to create.
You can get the latest beta (1.0.19815) here in case you want to try it. The updated MAS version will be available later.

MEB reacted to hevonen in Symmetry tool for creative painting
I don't know if this is targeted towards AD or AP, but symmetry tools are very useful for murals and engravings. Especially in game graphics.
Artists can create seals (not the animal), floor tile designs, engraved doorframes and stuff like that very quickly in 2d software and then convert these to normal maps or actual displacements in 3d app.
As an extension to typical x/y symmetry it would be quite useful to have user-defined radial symmetry (either by angles or by extra axes running through symmetry origo), so when symmetry mode is active all drawing actions are mirrored on all axes. Would be great!

MEB reacted to veronica in Symmetry tool for creative painting
Hi people!
I believe that for all those people who are developing characters, the symmetry tool it's really useful. To get the same result in Photoshop we have to copy and do an horizontal flip, but for creative developing it's not enough, and it's not a difficult feature to program.
Thank you!

MEB got a reaction from Zeitfraktur in (alt+scroll) Zoom direction inverted?
Hello Sascha,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
No, there's no way to invert the zoom behaviour. And i'm not sure a change here would please everyone, so maybe a preference would be the best approach.

I believe Dave Harris already fixed all those issues for the next Beta.

MEB got a reaction from Lojza in Alignment > target object
Thanks for your suggestion @ZOPPOdesign.
Yes, presently it's not possible to define an object as a reference for the alignment. We are aware of this limitation.
This was already requested by other users too and should be implemented later (still may take a little).

MEB got a reaction from M4RCK3 in resizing vector..
Hi M4RCK3
Thanks for the file.
Here's what you have to do:
- select the White background group in the Layers panel (parent layer), then on context toolbar click on the width drop down and check Scale with object. This will set all all strokes to scale with the object.
- select ALL the layers (and sublayers) that have an FX applied one at a time, click once on the FX icon on them, and check Scale with object on the bottom left of the dialog for each one. Currently there's no way to set this for all at once.
After those changes it should scale correctly. If not it's probably because you still have one of the FX's with Scale with object unchecked. Sorry for the trouble. Let me know if you still have problems.
Maybe we should have Scale with object checked by default for all objects. It's what users expect most of the time.

MEB got a reaction from ronnyb in Snapping on/off keyboard toggle
Hi ronnyb,
You can already press and hold ⌥ (option/alt) to disable temporarily the snapping with any tool. For a "permanent" change there's the toggle in the Persona toolbar.

Thanks for reporting this @ronnyb. Issue logged to be looked at.

MEB reacted to Dave Harris in Couple-o-text functions I'd like to see
I've done #1 and it'll be in the next beta. I've made all the tool flyouts remember their last tool, so this will help Photo even more.

MEB reacted to paolo.limoncelli in Poor Controls on Brushes
I think you only have to get used to this new engine.
Brush controls of AP/AD are much more powerful than PSP and PL32.
Affinity range is blazing fast in painting... Another league.
In particular not so far from PS engine, which is the benchmark.
In PL32 or PSP I'm not able to create brushes like these (crafted in Affinity Designer).
It is simply impossible...
AP/AD philosophy is "preset oriented".
You can create and categorise as much tools as you want, and don't have to change settings while painting.
Simply pick the preset you need, and vary size/hardness/opacity with an handy combination of shortcuts.
Square/Circle brushes have all the controls you need and much more, as dynamics.
You can use these presets with any tool available, so for example clone/dodge/burn/smear portions of your images using art presets.
And last but not least... Multiple nozzles and textures.
The only lacking feature is Opacity Jitter control in dynamics, but I'm pretty sure it will arrive soon.

MEB got a reaction from Paul Bravery in Introduce Yourself
Hello Kryten.
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
We can only import data from .ai files if a PDF stream is present in the file (since .ai is a private/closed format).
If they are very old, or exported without the PDF stream box checked, there's nothing we can do. We can't save files in .ai for the same reason. A beta of Affinity Publisher should be available by the end of this year.

MEB got a reaction from Omaroo in Graduated filter - as per Lightroom?
Hi Omaroo,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Have you tried to assign an Exposure adjustment to a gradient overlay in the Overlay tab in Develop Persona?
I'm afraid it's not exactly the same since the overlay gradient is linear (not mirrored as in Lightroom - although you can apply more than one).
In Photo Persona, you can apply an Exposure adjustment (or any other one you want) and use the integrated mask (all adjustment layers have one) to define how the intensity of the adjustment will be applied through the image. Here you can add more stops to control the gradient (mask).

MEB reacted to karim in Path operations: "Roughen"
I'm putting this in Feature Requests as I can't find any hint of it in the App, though I'd love to wrong :)
There are a bunch of procedural path-level operations that I am missing from Freehand and other tools, but right now, I'm in desperate need of a "roughen" or "tesselate" tool. Basically a combination of N-subdivide (also missing) and U-V point jitter, so that a path can be "roughened" by a variable amount.
While the vector brushes are awesome, and can simulate this effect in some circumstances, there are also many times that an actual procedural adjustment to the path geometry is necessary.
