MEB got a reaction from ronnyb in Shake Concept
Nice work Ronny. It may have been time consuming, but totally worth the effort.

MEB got a reaction from asdfghjkloiwdjoiioens in Custom Color Palette & Swatch Syncing
Hi Braceyourself,
There's no need to duplicate the swatches/palettes. You can export/import .afpalette files between Affinity programs. Not as simple as a sync but still a lot better than creating them from scratch.

Hi @Rui, @velarde
Yes, It's not there yet, but its getting better.
I'm sure Andy will keep improving it.

I have access to a Lion machine, so I will give it try. I'll reply to this thread when I have more information :)

MEB got a reaction from Leigh in Ruler Preferences
This is probably a bug specific to Lion. I'm not able to reproduce it in Mavericks. I believe this was already fixed in the Beta, but i do not have a machine with Lion installed to confirm this.

MEB got a reaction from A_B_C in Designer: how an item becomes a "snapping candidate"?
Just mouse over other objects until that rectangle is removed from the snapping candidates list. The maximum number of snapping candidates is six, so as soon as those are filled up Affinity will start removing them from the first to be able to add new objects.
As A_B_C said this should be improved later.

MEB got a reaction from ronnyb in Snapping on/off keyboard toggle
It's completely impossible to please everyone when it comes to shortcuts. People come from different backgrounds and apps and it's simply impossible to account for all those contexts in a single universal solution. Personally i think the best way to solve this is to keep Affinity's default choices as those take in consideration the features and tools specific to Affinity and build a robust customisable shortcut system to address user's specific needs.

MEB got a reaction from ferreirex in Convert to curves
Press the Width button on the context toolbar. The Scale with object checkbox is right above the Pressure button. This option is also available for FX effects so they can scale with the object too (in the Layer Effects main dialog on the bottom left).

MEB got a reaction from meefox in import brushes
Hi meefox,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
The latest Beta already allows you to import .abr files. You can it get it from here (the latest version is usually pinned at the top).
If you have bought the Mac App Store version you can use it without time restrictions, just keep it installed along with the Beta.
One note: files created or saved with the Beta may not open in the Mac App Store version, since it doesn't include the latest improvements/features implemented in the Beta.
It's not possible to import .tpl files.

MEB got a reaction from ferreirex in Convert to curves
Convert to Curves is used to convert a shape or a text object to a path allowing you to edit its nodes.
For example: if you draw a curve with the Pen tool and change to the Node tool you can edit its nodes immediately because its already a path. But if you draw a shape (a rectangle or a star) or write some text and change to the Node tool you can't edit their nodes. You must first Convert to Curves (curves/paths here means the same) and only then you can change to the Node tool and edit/change their nodes.
When you convert a shape or text to path/curves they are no longer editable as text or as shapes (they are no longer parametric). That means you cannot change the text family or weight (thin, book, bold etc) in the case of text, neither the number of points or the radius of the start or other shape attributes. They are now simply a path as if they were drawn with the Pen tool.

MEB got a reaction from PluginJunkie in Convert to curves
Hi ferreirex,
I'm not sure i understood you correctly but i think you want to convert a line into a shape.
To do it: select the line, go to menu Layer ▹ Expand Stroke.
Let me know if this is what you were looking for.

We are aware of this. As TonyB already said, they will be revamped later this year.

MEB got a reaction from Jens Krebs in How does "Edit image in Photo" work?
Hi Jens Krebs,
I think this wasn't implemented yet. There's only a menu entry but it's not active, unless i'm missing something here.

Ok i see thanks. Yes, there will be an alternative called Affinity Publisher. It will be available as a beta by the end of this year.

MEB got a reaction from RenWaller in Adding anchor points on curve
If it started with the Pen tool, you don't need to convert it to curves. To add an anchor point you have to click over the path with the Node tool. Here's a quick video.

MEB got a reaction from A_B_C in Radial Gradient Direction
@AJBlue98,
Yes, a Mesh fill tool is already on our roadmap. I'm not yet aware of the details on how it will work.
@A_B_C
That's not the same. In your example you have a linear spread of the gradient along the surface, You just changed the shape of that spread (ellipse) and it's origin point. What i believe @AJBlue98 is asking for is a non-linear spread set by the distance of an external control to the origin point of the gradient (similar to what a spotlight does in a 3D software).

MEB got a reaction from ronnyb in View Pressure Curve/gradient (for strokes) command
Nice concept @ronnyb. Personally i would add the Pressure handles to both sides, even at the cost of some cleanness, because it feels more intuitive. Additionally they could be used independently from each other (but in the same vertical direction - no angle variation here like in regular node handles), pressing the alt key (or other modifier) to make the length of the handles non-symmetrical.

Nice illustration style. I also like the colour palette you've chosen.
Thanks for sharing.

I've created a quick video showing how to create a basic Long Shadow Effect using the Power Duplicate feature in Affinity Photo.
If you have a better way of creating a Long Shadow Effect, feel free to add your tips and tricks here :)

MEB got a reaction from Zeitfraktur in Center a shape between two other shapes
Hi supervolting,
To get an even space between the objects in your example you have to use Space Vertically, not Align Middle or Align Center (those are for other purposes). Check this video.
The snapping guidelines will not pick references outside the objects (yet), so they will not work here.
