MEB got a reaction from ESPR in Wrapping a label round a bottle or mug in Photo
    Hi pioneer,
.afmacro files (without the S at the end of macro) are the steps of a single macro and must be imported from the Macro panel clicking the last icon on the top right of the panel.
.afmacros (with a S at the end) is a set of macros which are imported through the Library panel.

MEB got a reaction from JanaJanicka in How to fill space in between lines
    Hi @JanaJanicka,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Select the Pencil Tool, tap Use Fill in the context toolbar on bottom and select the colour you want to fill in, in the colour well that will appear on the right of the Use Fill button. Then in a layer placed below your line work, start drawing over the spaces you want to fill in (as if you were drawing a closed shape of the area you want to fill) and you will see Affinity filling the space as you draw. Don't worry if you don't "trace" exactly over your line work the first time - you can adjust the filled area anytime switching to the Node Tool and adjusting the nodes as required to fill any gap that may be visible.

Not sure a linear gradient would work well here because the brightening/output would be a bit flat/artificial unless you are considering it as a subtle starting point.

    Hi @augustya,
Generally speaking in Affinity if you need to apply some adjustment (or filter) locally create the live adjustment you want, for example Brightness (Levels or Exposure as you see fit), adjust it globally to get the effect you want, invert the adjustment layer's mask pressing cmd+I (CTRL+I on Windows) then paint with a white brush over the areas you want to retain/keep the adjustment as you set up initially. You can always adjust the live adjustment parameters and/or the brush settings to control how the effect is applied to the image.

MEB got a reaction from henryg in When to Upscale?
    Hi @henryg,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
No, there's no point in upscaling unless you really need a bigger image/output. Any downscaling or upscaling always affects image quality negatively because you are either interpolating or removing pixels from the original image which affects its sharpness/definition. If you really have to upscale use a proper resampling algorithm (depends on the type of image) to get a better result.

    Hi @HpR, @jknights,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Affinity Photo is similar to Photoshop where you typically work with one photo at a time rather than Lightroom, On1 Photo RAW etc which are geared towards photographer's workflows/needs. There's no library/cataloging or browser views/management, or ways to apply the same settings to several photos from a photoshoot and similar functionality. So you either have to use it in conjunction with a third party photo management/cataloging app or consider another app entirely according to your needs.
It's possible we may provide a DAM at a later date but for now there's no such funcionality available.

Go to menu Window > Separated Mode. The documents tabs and tools will become detached from the application's window frame and you can position them as you see fit.

No, it wasn't sorry. It's up to management/development to decide what features to add and when. I've updated/bumped the log to bring it up to dev's attention again. It's all i can do.

Yes, currently this is only available in Photo. I'm filling an improvement request to add it to Designer as well.

MEB got a reaction from PaulEC in Toughts on Affinity
    Hi @Maarten_
Creating a grid of artboards is quite simple/quick with Power Duplicate and as long as they are correctly pixel aligned (that is, use integers for its X,Y coordinates and width/height) Affinity Designer automatically creates a slice for each artboard and exports them without issues.
Affinity Photo is not really the most adequate app for this task - you can't create artboards with it natively (although it supports them if they were created in other app of the suite) and was primarily designed for RAW development/photo editing. We are trying to keep each app as much focused on their fields/areas as possible.
Regarding to slices and snapping, although technically possible it would cause other inconveniences/compromises: slices use integer positions only and as such cannot be snapped to arbitrarily/floating positions like other objects, guides and grids. If we do change the apps to support floating point positions then you would have to worry to snap slices to integer values/pixels as well which in the end may not worth the trouble. For icon design, Affinity Designer is really the best choice here. If you ever need/require some feature present on other app of the suite you can always send the document directly to that app going to menu File > Edit in... and selecting the app you want to send the document to.

Same problem here for the last couple of years. I'm using a Brother DCP-L2530DW in OS X Catalina-there must be a Canon equivalent. I take it there must be some legal wrangle going on over software rights or something.

The workaround (in my case) is to use BrotheriPrint&Scan in my case but it's an awkward fix and disappointing.

    Hi @CM0,
Yes, we are aware this is broken when duplicating artboards and duplicating objects with the live perspective filter applied (in all apps). Both issues are logged/being investigated but i can't give you an eta for a fix. It depends entirely on management/development priorities, sorry.

    Hi @flobnoit,
No worries. Where are you storing Affinity native's files? If i remember correctly there's a cloud synchronisation service/folder that doesn't display the thumbnails for our files (I have to double-check this).

We do embed a thumbnail that Windows is able to display in the Preview pane. Do you have Save thumbnails with documents enabled/ticked in Affinity Designer Preferences, General section?

It's also good practise, the less extraneous/superfluous elements, the smaller the icon's file size (SVG).

This is a known issue that was affecting all platforms (Windows, macOS, iOS). Both the macOS and Windows versions were already fixed (latest Customer Betas), only the iOS version still remains unfixed but shouldn't take much longer now. Hopefully the next update should fix it for you.
