6 years later and unless I’m missing something, i don’t see eye droppers in Curves like in Photoshop… it’s one of the reasons i haven’t ditched Creative Cloud yet… it’s little things like this that prevent Affinity from being a complete replacement.. I have all 3 Affinity apps but I’m still having to go back to my Adobe Suite for many things… 😕

I am still having the problem described here after two years. I am currently using version 1.7.3.This is super annoying when I am working on a lot of files.: 
 
To recap the problem. When I open a file, about every fifth time I try to open the file (not always the fifth time, the amount of times varies), I get the permission error above. If I close Affinity Pro, and re-open it, I can open the file normally. This happens sometimes when trying to export a file as well. This happens with files stored locally on the Mac, or on files on a network drive. It doesn't seem to matter. Suggestions I've tried from other threads that did not work: Pruning the number of fonts active on my machine, giving Affinity Photo Full Disk Access in Security and Privacy.

Such self-important arrogance. If this is the kind abusive, do-it-our-way-or-sod-off response people can expect when they come here for help, maybe I should stop recommending Affinity software.

The bug remains where if you use divide for two overlapping objects and then add to combine parts of the new objects, a bunch of anchor points appear where the joints would be. How is this still not fixed? There's no shapebuilder tool because "geometry tools are sufficient for the task" and those geometry tools are this bad? Still. Really? Is this app supposed to get even close to the abilities of Illustrator any time soon?

I love Affinity Designer, but I cannot understand why the issues with the boolean operations persist years after they have been flagged repeatedly in the forums. Trying to expand simple strokes and divide and add together parts of these simple shapes results in a ton of errors. When I had discussed this in prior posts to the forum, it was alluded to that "dirty geometry" was the issue - because I had used the pen tool like a brush, building up multiple strokes at times to get the kind of thick to thin lines I wanted. In this case here, I'm using single pen strokes.
I really want to replace Illustrator with Designer - but I cannot understand why such a major component of Designer is still not anywhere closer to being fixed years after the problems began. I literally have to take the design out of Designer and into Illustrator or VectorStyler to expand it and merge cleanly the different parts
