  1. For goodness sake! Cheers, MEB. I appreciate the time you spend with the dummies. EDIT: Just to say that it does show the boundry, but it doesn't act as a preview as you still can't see what's in the bleed area. AD2 will be interesting, that's for sure.
  2. That's what I thought, MEB. But how do I physically do this? You can't draw outside the artboard...
  3. Tell me to buzz off, but in Affinity Photo (which is obviously the PS equivalent), you can just click Filters > Colours > Erase White Paper.
  4. Having an absolute nightmare with preparing a pdf document to send to the printers. What is best practice? The bleeds are an absolute nightmare. You can't rasterize anything without it trimming everything off. It's the only thing that's worse than Illustrator.
  5. Eh? I know what a bleed is, ffs! What isn't clear to me is how AD is, or isn't, displaying them.
  6. How strange! Sorry, but just to clarify, do I need to add the rectangle inside or outside the document? In other words if I have set up bleeds of 3 mm, is the document currently the dimensions + the bleed or are they added once the document is printed?
  7. I feel like I missing something very obvious, but I have created a document with margins and bleeds. How do I view them?
  8. Cheers, MEB. Can I suggest it or get the thread moved?
  9. Can you change a shape type? For instance if I've created a circle, could I then change this to a square, thus keeping the same dimensions? If not I think this would be a good idea.
  10. Is there a way to change the Artboard/Layers preview to a white background? I create most of my work with dark lines so I can't see them with the default black background.
  11. I would like Select All (Ctrl + A) to not select all. Instead I would like it to select everything in an Artboard. Selecting everything in the world would require an extra press of A. Personally I would like to see the option of turning on Ctrl + A selecting a layer, then each press of A selecting the parent layer.
  12. When I was first learning illustrating tools, I found doing tuts tutorials to be very helpful: https://design.tutsplus.com/categories/affinity-designer There is a course here (but you have to be signed up to Envato for at least 1 month at $29): https://webdesign.tutsplus.com/courses/affinity-designer-quick-start
  13. I have created this: The red part in the middle is half a circle with two lines joined together. What's the best way to keep the angle of the line and smooth the joint out? Smart curve does this which is not really acceptable:
  14. I'm not sure how relevant this is to AD, but there are some pretty helpful people on here so I'd thought I'd ask. I am designing a web page in AD and obviously I want to then turn it into a website. I already have a Wordpress site with Siteground. What do I need to do to get an AD creation from AD and onto the web?!
  15. I like this feature. :) Can we have it so symbols can be saved and then used in another / new document?
  16. MEB! You were right. I've mixed-up my artboard and layers. Sorting out the hierarchy has resolved the problem. Thanks for your patience.
  17. I'm an AI user and aware of what the lock icon does. The lock icon isn't the problem.
  18. Thanks for the reply. I will check out the resources. "If you selected several layers then select the edit all layer any adjustment will apply to all the selected layer." But objects still switch layers. Is there no way to lock a layer or just prevent objects moving between layers? EDIT: This is driving me nuts now. Every time a move an object it throws it down a layer.
  19. When I move an object on screen, it keeps moving it to another layer. I think I'm a bit confused with Layers; The Edit All Layers button doesn't seem to do anything Locking a layer has no effect and only prevents an edit of objects within the layer I don't really understand the difference between the pixel layer and the normal layer. Any help is appreciated.
