  1. Me again, I've added a new fill layer and applied an adjustable gradient to it, great. However, if I want to add a second adjustable gradient do I need to add a second fill layer on top of the stack with another gradient in it or do I have to do all selections and gradients on a single layer? What I want to do is add gradients to selections I've made from the background; I want to add different grads to each selection. Any ideas would be very welcome, thanks
  2. Thanks guys, its make you mad when you find out how simple it is. Thanks to all for your time
  3. Hi all again, after placing a gradient on a new pixel layer above the background, i cant find how to go back to that gradient re adjust it, any help? Thanks
  4. Hi Ron P., thanks for your message. The problem i’ve given myself is that i’m trying to emulate the work of Joel Tjintjelaar and his ‘fine art photography’. Given that he has PS and I refuse to subscribe, i’m finding the transfer of his techniques (ie the use of layers to show selections) to AF challenging. My other problem is that I seem to have a mental blockage when it comes to grasping ‘channels’. I will take note of the videos and see if I can bypass the roadblock in my brain. Thanks for your time.
  5. So here is an even easier work around, do the job in Adobe Elements 12. Each selection can be sent to a new layer and then worked on separately; maybe a good option for AF to think about.
  6. Ok so my 'work around is: 1) With the main image on screen, mentally divide up the image into a range of areas to be selected. 2) With a background copy in the layers, make the first selection , go to save selection to file, then deselect. 3) Continue with this process until all proposed areas have a selection taken and saved to the same folder. 4) When all the selections made, bring up each one individually onto a new pixel layer: make either a levels, curves or gradient etc adjustment. Name each pixel layer as you go. 5) Deselect after each area has been changed. 6) Continue until all areas blend together, form a composite layer at the to of the stack and make global adjustments if needed. 7 Add a blur to help blending
  7. What happens is that after taking one selection, when I return to make a second the selection brush is not responding. Hope this help explain. Thanks for your help.
  8. Thanks, but I am having problems with trying to divide the image up into more 2 selections. When I try after 2 selections the select tool is not working, any suggestions?
  9. Hi everyone, anyone tell me how to show more than one selection in the layers panel at the same time. I'am trying to work with individual selections whilst showing all of them at the same time thus being able to flick between them. At present I'am only able to load one at a time and then it closes when I load another. Thanks for your help.
  10. Sorry me again. I am trying to add a number of different (individual) gradients to the same image (ie one for the roof, one for the house front , one for the background etc) but each time I add a second pixel layer it knocks out the first one. Help again if you don't mind, thanks
  11. Thanks but can I ask this another way. Taking a picture of a house as an example, if I make a selection of the roof how can I add a gradient to the selection and then go back later and alter the gradient if needed. Then make a selection of the walls and do the same. I am looking to divide up an image into selections and work on them while they remain in the same image? Thanks for your help.
  12. Please tell me how to place a gradient inside a selection so that I can come back and alter the gradient later, thanks
  13. Hello all, please tell me how to send files back to LR after editing in Affinity Photo. I can send them over ok but not return them, thanks
  14. Just an idea for a request to add to future Affinity updates. It would be useful if you could always save the history with AF files as it always seems to ask if you want to. Just a thought regards
  15. Hi all, can someone tell me if it’s possible to load extra adjustment panels into Photo that have been externally purchased. I am wondering if it possible to purchase and load a Photoshop panel called B&W Artisan Pro by Joel Tjintjelaar. He offers a panel that can be used to help produce his fine art photographs but he only shows it in PS, if anyone has tried please let me know. Thanks in advance.
  16. Thanks toltec. I am not getting a result here. Does it need to be clicked , held down and then moved over a point?
  17. Hello Affinity. In the desk top version of AF should you be able to use the picker tool in the curves panel to match up with the various tones in an image? I was expecting that with the picker tool when clicked would show corresponding points on the curves line, am I missing something here. Thanks
  18. Thanks for your time Gabriel, its just that I was looking at a video and it showed it in PS. Not to worry as I am going to stick with Black & White adjustments as the Channels method puts my brain in a spin. Thanks anyway
  19. Is it possible to add the various B&W filters of yesteryear onto B&W images while going through the conversion process??
  20. Hello Affinity, is there any chance that the Affinity Photo workbook will be published in paperback for electronic form ? Thanks for any reply
