smallreflection got a reaction from Maxxxworld in Social Media Template 2015
Hello all! I threw together this social media template based on recommended sizes for 2015—largely based on Constant Contact's recommendations. It doesn't include quite everything, but it has slices already set up as well to help expedite most needs. Enjoy! :)

There's going to be an update to Affinity Designer very soon. Once it's available can you install it and try again to see if you get the same issue.

Let us know how you get on :)

That reaction is why we try not to give out dates. Although I don't think we ever said Publisher would be launched this year. We did say the public beta would start towards the end of this year, with the product available to buy from the Mac App Store next year. That available to buy is what I was referring to in the post you quoted, and hasn't really changed: it's still next year. Whether the public beta makes this year remains to be seen; it's still possible, but time is ticking away so I am no longer saying this year for that, even tentatively.

I used the word "hope" in my post out of habit. Our policy is to avoid giving, or even implying, guaranteed release dates.

Whether Designer is usable for professional work depends on exactly which features your particular professional work needs. Everyone has their pet must-have features, and they aren't the same features for everyone. For some it's printing, for others it's multiple pages, for others it's art boards, for others it's better guides and snapping, for others it's arrow-heads, for others it's vector mesh warp, for others it's Pantone colours, for others it's PDF/X, for others it's customisable shortcuts. On the other hand, some people are using Designer professionally right now, and have been for months. What we do, we generally do pretty well, and over time we will cover more and more use cases.

No-one from Serif is thinking 2017. We need it earlier than that. That said, we've been actively developing PagePlus on Windows for over 25 years, and I expect we'll be adding to the Affinity apps long after 2020. We're in it for the long haul.

Meanwhile, we'll release Publisher as soon as we can. We know some of you are waiting eagerly (if not always patiently).

    Chill out man,

I know, the wait is killing me too, but that what it is. Affinity will always play a catch-up to ADOBE, unless they commit more manpower towards the affinity Trio. (Designer, Photo, Publisher).

Remember, it's £29 a pop so it's not that they are taking your money and running away with it. The price more than fully justifies what the software represented at the moment.

The professional moniker attached to the Designer and Photo is bit of a stretch at this point in time but that's the space they want to be in.

I'm confident that they will get there. Until then, people who would want to use these programs professionally and break away from ADOBE, will need to wait a bit.

    I think that's what's killing you, right :-)

    Hello,

I like Affinity and I like this community, so I’d like to share this logo template that I did using AD, the title is “Tree of Life” and I hope that can be useful for some of you ;)

Great balance. I think it gets enough tonal value and detail to be interesting and give a greater air of quality, yet flat enough that it reflects a more modern/pro aesthetic. I think you're hitting the most important point—brand distinctiveness. They look quite at home with similar apps in my dock. My only concern is on dark backgrounds the great silhouette shape gets a bit lost. But still, pretty near perfect, in my opinion.

+1. I'd love to see them take a page from Illustrator's book and not only copy color but also other attributes as well  :)

Yes, please streamline color picker, current way to change color of an object to something else is unnecessarily slow and tedious.

    Maybe something like this:
    - hotkey for invoking color picker
    - clicking on a color will instantly change either fill or stroke of selected object(s), using modifier key (like shift) to change which one changes
    - clicking and dragging will recolor the selected object in realtime, to give good visual feedback
    - if no object is selected only color will be changed
    - current color palette eyedropper could coexist with this, as sometimes one just wants the color

Thanks for this - I noticed that your first crashes were from the swatch panel and the second crashes were from something to do with snapping... I'll try to look into them - but they're not very common crash sites, which is odd... :S

Definition of impossible: Pleasing everyone on esthetic matters!
Most of us use these great apps because we're really interested in the visual arts. So we all have strong ideas of what we like.
I sure offered some of my opinions early on.

Whether you love the new icons or not, seen in the Dock, they are pretty good at showing you unambiguously where to click for the Affinity apps!

Kudos to the Serif folks for both 1) listening to your customers, and 2) steadfastly pursuing your own icon goals.

I agree. Final Cut and Logic icons are just silly... I never really liked Logic Pro 7 and then 8 onward logo. (7 was kind of a sampler, and 8 onward is that silly plaque). I think that professional/prosumer oriented software needs a strong brand rather than suggestive icon.

Suggestive icon is very useful for people are less computer-literate. But an advanced vector software isn't targeting that demographic.

You can't have a clue what a certain plugin does by looking at the icon (battery has a lightning bolt lol), but you instantly know its NI.
But the links you posted aren't really NI icons. :)
someone designed them to fit logic better, as they're not stock with NI plugins.
this is how real battery looks like:

They look kinda out of place in Yosemite, to be frank.

Sharp thick shadows, very deep perspective, and intense gradients.

everything in yosemite is sort of "soft", gradients are hinted not overblown.
