Yes, I intend to do this but it will take some time... :)

If you could send us a file to support@seriflabs.com that would be great - we can take a look at what's happening and try to sort it out, thanks! :)

Thanks for the "Lock Children" options. No more moving them outside the clipping shape and then back again :)

But a modifier key would be much more helpful for this. What if holding Alt with the Move tool would lock the children for the time of moving/resizing (no matter of what the status of the checkbox is)?

    Thanks for considering ;)

Another improvement not listed in the first topic: Affinity now keeps the last ten used fonts on top of the font list.

This is a bug, there is no reason why they shouldn't be there.

You are right. I don't think there is any way to currently tell if there is a Pantone colour applied to an object yet - we should probably put something in.

Just the Pantone support is adding a great value to the app. Just wondering. I don't know if it is me. What would be nice is a way to know what Pantone colour is applied instead of wondering.
Like AI when you select an object you know what colour is the fill or stroke even if is a Pantone.
It's me and then i didn't see anywhere what it telling me or is missing?
    Best

    Pantone, Pantone … Hurray!!!
Also: Looking forward to the even more fantastic beta you've teased … might we get artboards and / or pages for early Christmas? ;-)

Wow … apart from Pantone support, this one is highly appreciated …

The Move Tool can now be told to move an object, but not children of that object: It’s an option on the context toolbar and will only show up if you have a non-group object selected which has children (a curve which clips a number of other curves, for example).

    … did I say “appreciated”? No, it’s fantastic …  :D

Purpose: Features / Improvements / Fixes
    Status: Beta
    Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer
    Mac App Store: Not Submitted
    Download: Here

To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.

    Notable changes:

    - Added support for Pantone colours - including PDF/X import and export.
    - New blend mode - “Contrast Invert”. Try typing some black text over a gradient black->white area and choose this blend mode.
    - Fix for incorrectly exporting the opposite of what the user requested with the ‘1x’/‘2x’/‘3x’ options in Export Persona. - Fix for documents with Pixel unit types incorrectly loading into the Mac App Store version (just open your document and save it again in this version to fix). - Keyboard shortcuts should now work properly for view zooming and are now properly saved for tools.
    - Certain adjustments (Levels, Curves, Channel Mixer) can now be applied in any colour space - so you could add a LAB curves adjustment to an RGB document, for example.
    - The Move Tool can now be told to move an object, but not children of that object: It’s an option on the context toolbar and will only show up if you have a non-group object selected which has children (a curve which clips a number of other curves, for example).
    - Numerous PSD export / import improvements - Some fixes that should help create PSD files that FCPX and Motion can import.  Fixed import vector masking issue with subtractive masks.  PSD export can now export efficient flat image which decreases files sizes for flat RGB images)..
    - You can now double click the empty view (with no documents loaded) to load a document.
    - Numerous improvements to vector import / export - especially for PDF/X.
    - Numerous Help improvements.
    - Numerous minor bug fixes.

I'm trying my best, Jens (hence why I'm being a bit quiet on the forums) - might take me another few weeks before it hits the beta, but I'm hoping it'll all be ready before Christmas! :)

Bigger changes/features takes more time to implement than small improvements. Just hold on a little more. It will be worth the wait :)

Hello, first of all thanks for the update guys! this software is better and better each day :)

I want to tell you there is a small bug on the slice resolution export:

    - Select a slice, check '1x' and press 'export selection', this action will export the current slice at '2x' and '3x'
    - Do the same but this time check all the resolution options and nothing will be exported
    - Check both '2x' and '3x', and you will get the slice at '1x'

Photoshop's "Save for Web" feature is being phased out in the latest version: it is considered a 'legacy' feature, and will disappear in the next version.

As for the PNG optimization in "Save for Web": it is terrible:
    - no support for alpha transparency and indexed-based coloured PNG
    - no support to reduce the number of colours to 512, or 1024, or an arbitrary number of colours
    - a lack of dithering controls, and misc other PNG options.
    - resultant file PNG file size for assets with alpha transparency is dreadful compared to other (free) tools.
    - in Illustrator the anti-aliasing and downsampling quality is downright useless. Avoid.

In short: photoshop's Save for Web function is the worst option out there for PNG optimization and quality control.

The best alternative for PNG optimization is currently ColorQuantizer (http://x128.ho.ua/color-quantizer.html). Unfortunately, this is unavailable for Macs. An alternative (with almost no control over conversion settings) would be ImagOptim, but it only supports lossless PNG optimization https://imageoptim.com/

Color Quantizer is so good, it is worth running it in a virtual box or Wine environment on your Mac.

Please Note: We will do our utmost to fix anything that emerges as quickly as possible, but we just wanted you to understand that for production work we would recommend using the Mac App Store version until this beta has been validated for a few weeks. There are no translations included with this beta version, sorry - we aim to get them back soon...

    Notable changes:
    - Fix for compatibility issues with OS X Lion and Mountain Lion
    - Fix for PNG import issues
    - Fix for dragging enclosure objects in the Layers panel (this was broken in last time’s beta, sorry)
    - Many improvements to raster and vector export and options
    - Added user-defined Rotation Centre to the tools
    - Numerous PDF import and export improvements
    - Tweaks to character and paragraph panels
    - Expanded slightly on the Keyboard Shortcuts functionality
