  1. @Dave Miller : Using your criteria: Windows desktop Affinity Photo and Designer. XP-PEN Deco 03 is great on both for me.
  2. @haakoo That's interesting background info. XnViewMP is working fine for my needs. And it's free! Thanks for suggesting it. R
  3. @walt.farrell I've un- and re-ticked everything I did yesterday during set-up, but the thumbnails stay just as shown in the screengrab above. Anything more and I'm out of my depth. Sorry I can't be of help to you, but thanks for helping me. R
  4. Hmm. All I did was follow the instructions from you and MEB. I don't think there are any additional codecs or thumbnail viewers on my machine either. I'll have a go at un-ticking the boxes tomorrow and see if I can replicate those random squares. If so I'll post back.
  5. I've seen several of these videos. Superb presentation. This should be of great help to many. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Unless we lose ourselves in service to others, there is little purpose to our own lives." Such a wonderful sentiment. R
  6. Thanks to you guys it's all up and running and looking fine. Now it's time to manage those assets. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walt: Is this what you're seeing? The svg thumbnails are distorted into a square format and blurry but they still give a fair idea of what's inside. Whereas the svg previews really are ridiculous tiny splodges!
  7. Really helpful replies. This is where the forum shines: practical, empirical advice. I'll download XnViewMP and try it out with your modifications.
  8. Hi haakoo It's vector files I'm wanting to manage. Does XnViewMP actually support .afdesign and SVG files? After an hour and a half's searching on the web yesterday and today it would seem not, but if you can tell me it does (and show me how to achieve it) that'd be great! Thanks, R
  9. Which software do you use when you're managing .afdesign, SVG and other vector graphics files? Unfortunately ACDSee doesn't show thumbnails/previews for these file types, so I need to look elsewhere. I'm on Windows 10 pro 64 and all I can find is abeMeda. What works for you guys? If @MEB or any other Affinity mods want to share their tricks of the trade then please jump in. R
  10. As long as you're keen, watch the videos, and then practice what you've seen then you'll improve. It's the repetition that counts. It's the repetition that counts. Don't focus on being a "pro". I honestly believe you'll be delighted with what you and the program can do each time you learn a different technique. Just enjoy being able to do something you couldn't half an hour ago. Put some time in each day over the summer (and you would do anyway because it's fun!), and by September you'll be thrilled how far you've come. Enjoy it!
  11. Hi Kylelol You will certainly get serious, and helpful, replies to your questions. The only silly question on this forum is the one you didn't ask because you felt embarrassed. You'll find the members on here will be generous with their time and knowledge in order to help you, no matter what. So ask away! Welcome to the friendliest forum on the net. R
  12. Thanks αℓƒяє∂ I was out of my depth with the Mac thing, and thus was quoting someone else from an archived reply elsewhere. Thanks for correcting this. And me. (I only replied because I could see none of the Three Musketeers were logged in [that's you , @toltec & @R C-R ], and I thought Aad would appreciate a quick reply.) R P.S. I also noticed that in APhoto you can go to View>Studio>Reset Studio. Also you can go to Edit>Defaults>Factory Reset. These will save time due to not having to close and re-open the program. Reset Studio is safe enough as it just rearranges the furniture, but I haven't had the strength of character to try the Factory Reset. That sounds scary! Would I have to save imported brushes and macros beforehand? Yikes! ...I thought I'd step away from the mouse before I regretted it...
  13. You can reset Affinity Photo by opening it while holding down the Ctrl key on a PC, or the Cmd key on a Mac. A Clear User Data dialog will be show with the first three options ticked; press Select All for a full reset. But from what you write, first try just having Reset Studio ticked, then press clear. See if that returns you to where you want to be. If not, repeat with the other boxes ticked as well. R
  14. Thanks for sharing this. I look forward to giving it a tryout.
  15. Hello lovely people, this is a public service announcement. Affinity : 30% off everything till July 25th. That's software and workbooks! Just a heads up to others like myself who don't receive promo emails and may have been unaware of this. R P.S. Now I have the matching set.
  16. Yes, thanks @Dan C Super helpful selection of suggestions when you could have been otherwise engaged.
  17. So you can travel back in time? As well as living on a different planet? This forum sure is diverse.
  18. When The Camera's Switched Off... But...but...this is a photo, isn't it?
  19. Good thinking. As long as the now pixelated edges of the resized masks don't cause any visible artefacts in the full size image, you're good to go. For pixel accurate masks you may need to re-work problem edges. R
  20. I found the same myself, and assumed I was doing something wrong. Hopefully your clearly illustrated example will prompt some answers.
  21. Something about that avatar makes me feel cautious about clicking the link...
