anytime i use affinity photo my computer gets to a halt

i have a gaming pc that is way too powerful for this app but still the app halts my computer whenever i use FX effects to layers ... what can i do this is killing my creativity 

my computer has 32 gig ram and is a i7 and i have a gaming gpu  1080gtx  how can this happen

[cloning does not work]

cloning does not work from layer to layer 

cloning doesnt seem to work from one image to another

 

cloning only seem to work on one layer on same image only

 

is there a way to clone from anywhere to anywhere like in photoshop?
