upon further reflection, it might have been the small app "Magnet" i was using that caused the issue.  It was also killing Notification Center.  Since i've updated it though things are playing nice.  So far...

I've found that if you hold the shift key down while using the lasso tool it gives you the "connect the dots" approach (which i assume is what your referring to by "polygon")

greetings!  i know you guys are buried, but i wonder if you could move targa file compatibility up the list a bit?   Not so much for me, as for the rest of my department at work (yes, i got my entire department at the tv station to go/buy Affinity Photo)   While i have a temporary work around (open in Preview, then copy paste) we work with ALOT of legacy targa files (20 years worth) ... so perhaps the next update... please?  :-)

I was wondering, a great way to make the workflow even better, is it possible to add to you iPad apps a way to “customize” the contextual menus?   Essentially giving us a kind of “keyboard shortcut” replacement?

I have Photo on Mac and iPad. I’m looking into options like Astropad and duet pro to allow me to make edits on my iPad while editing a photo on my Mac (I.e. Apple Pencil precision). Are there plans to build this into Photo, rather than having to run through (and pay for) another app?

example.  double tap hide ui button, all the menus go away.  Place edge of hand on ipad as you try to draw with pencil - every menu comes back and random things get selected that were never meant to be selected.   Rinse.  Repeat.  Can this be fixed?  I would prefer that the ONLY way the ui ever comes back is to hit the hide ui button.  please?  makes those of us that rest the hand on the ipad as we try to draw a bit...frustrated...

One of the biggest features i used in illustrator and tend to miss greatly in designer is the ability to individually align points.  I'd like to see the ability to not only be able to individually align points, but also to be able to group and distribute/transform them as well.  Its a major help in the tracing and cleaning up process!

ah, got it!  you tap on the layer you want, then kind of "swipe" from left to right on top of the additional layer you want selected.   to unselect just one layer you reverse the swipe, from right to left  :-)
 
 

I second this, TGA output would be very useful as my game engine only supports tga's
writing uncompressed targa files is actually quite easy as its a simple file format. (support for exporting compressed tga's would be even cooler)

The tanking of Softpress Freeway created a ton of orphans - thousands of users who wanted a powerful, flexible and expansive WYSIWYG web development app (which Freeway was) and a modern app that moved gracefully forward with the times (which Freeway did not). If you didn't mind the finicky responsive tools, Freeway out performed the competition in many ways.
 
This means that there is an enormous void out there for a truly powerful and modern web development app that one can learn without requiring a degree and which has a ton of expandability and headroom for advanced users.
 
It seems to me that Affiniy is the ideal company to develop such an app - something that would leave all WYSIWYG web apps in the dust. (How about in 2018?)
 
There is a gigantic void in this area and nothing that truly fits the bill.

It would definitely useful to be able to use all transform and align tools on the control points as well. Not just the regular selection tools, but also things like flip operations, and possible future features like, say, bicubic mesh warp, selection brushes, Liquify-type warp brushes, noise-based displacement etc. if something like that is implemented. I think these type of features should always be designed from the get-go to work on both control point level and on object level.
 
Most 3D software actually handles that as some sort of global mode switch for toggling between object-level operations and component-level operations (control points, edges, faces etc.), and all tools in the applications support this switch, whereas most 2D software unfortunately limits the control point functionality to basic selecting and moving of points.

If I missed this in Affinity please let me know. Using the transformation window doing symmetrical scaling is not really ideal

Is it possible to BEG you to put how the transparent background is handled BACK the way it was?  We (at the tv station) save things with an alpha channel all the time, and the nebulous place the "switch" is placed to turn off the background is a great pain for the others in the building that are working on it.  (i get multiple complaints daily now).  
 
IF there has to be a switch, could it not be placed in the export/png dialog box... please?!?!

can i beg for what i call "point alignment" to be in the next version?  By Point Alignment, i mean the ability to align/group/transform/distribute an objects individual points much like you would align/distribute a group of objects?

In the context toolbar (with the Move Tool selectec) there's a checkbox labelled Lock Children (assuming you're using the Beta). With the layer selected, tick it and you should be able to move the image without affecting the mask. This is not yet available in the Mac App Store version.
