This is a way to do a little more creative vignette effect.
You get lots of control over how and where you want the effect.
If you've made it on one picture you can simply copy it to other images.

    Cheers :)

+1 For a picker to set Black/White Point
It's very useful to be able to decide exactly what i want to be black/white in an image.

Jakerlund reacted to Sean P in Vector graphic with an adjustment layer becomes rasterized in PDF
Unfortunately the PDF format doesn't really support the use of adjustments, so unfortunately it has to rasterise elements to retain the look. This can be controlled on the Export dialog using the Rasterise: dropdown which can be set to Everything, Unsupported Features or Nothing.

This is not a bug, just a limitation of the PDF format.

    Something like this?

    1. Draw a rectangle shape.
    2. Add a mask and paint with rough brushes until you're satisfied with the edges.
    3. Place a wrinkled paper image over and clip it to the rectangle shape and adjust the opacity to your liking. (see the layer setup below)

I used a little outer shadow on the rectangle shape for effect.
Trying to keep all such shapes as vector objects as long as possible gives you the option to scale it how ever you like without loosing any quality.

Here's a link to the wrinkled paper i used in this example

    Hi,
I found an interesting solution for creating an icon library with affinity designer.
The icons can be manipulated globally with a CSS file.
    The effort is relatively low.
Simply comment in an interest then I will describe the process here in the forum in detail.

I can think of at least two reasons:
Compatibility with Photo and Designer Future support for digital publishing when producing content for displays with greater than 8-bit color depth (these do exist...)

Perhaps 16bit publisher documents are a solution looking for a problem.
Q: "Why did you include that particular feature?"
    A: "Because we could."

    Hi everyone,
Two things here - firstly please make sure you are using the S&H *filter* - not the adjustment. The adjustment is a simple algorithm which is only included for backward compatibility.
Secondly, we are aware of an issue with the new S&H filter on 1.7 which affects highlights - we will get this fixed this week and provide a new build
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience!
    Andy.

I still get excited when I see any mention of the Shadow/Highligts filter been "updated"; then I try it and see its mostly the same...
I've noticed these bad results since the Affinity Photo Beta times...  They do have improved it a LITTLE bit in these years but it still pretty much unsable.
I still shoot in JPG in my camera (for practical reasons) so this is what I do my tests with...
Adobe Photohop's Camera Raw Filter( Lightroom) and On1's Photo Raw do a pretty good job of "rescuing" the image...
but try the same in Affinity Photo (any version from 1 through 1.7 )  and you mostly get a grey mess using the Shadow/ Highlights Filters (in all the areas of the software where it's used)

P.D. I still like (and use) Affinity Photo and the 1.7 update but hopefully the developers will pay more attention to the Shadow/Highlights fillters ...

I had such high hopes for the "Highlights and Shadow" for 1.7.
I wanted it to be just as good as Lightroom, Photoshop or Capture One.
But the result is still washed out like earlier versions.
I hope they give this some dev time since it's not good enough.

    From a RAW file
    1. APH: Does not recover highlights or shadows good, it just looks washed out.
I can't even get it near the others even if i develop and then use the live filter.
    2. Capture One Pro 12: Recover both highlights and shadows beautifully.
    3. Lightroom Classic: Recover both highlights and shadows beautifully.

    Looking really good already!
It would be amazing to be able to make interactive ebooks with small embedded videos/sound clips and animations as well as linked Vimeo/Youtube.
Having that on an iPad would be fantastic.
Even if a user has the ebook we could still update the linked Vimeo video.

Packaging the document to include all assets and fonts etc ( like InDesign)  is a feature that would be 100% mandatory for me to be able to switch from InDesign to Affinity Publisher.  and oh boy do I ever want to switch to affinity Publisher!!!

Was thinking the same... Just comparing some of the features in PagePlus9 and noticed epub(3) export was missing.
also looking at kindle KDP, they recommend due to artefacts sometimes in PDF's imported, they recommend using epub import files in kindle create if the publishing tool exports to epub, word also another option.
need ebook: google (play)/Apple (itunes)/amazon (kindle) supportable export formats.. even Word.
A lot of self publishers will be expecting good ebook support formats, not just PDF.
it just looks like designer without the page document options... was expecting it to be different for publications.
One big thing that is missing is the Publication Types: small, medium, etc . a lot clearer in PagePlus.... just need to add a new publication setup wizard for these features.

Please add this. Holding Shift while using the crop tool should have the same behavior as holding Shift while creating a rectangular marquee. Even using a specific ratio in the crop tool (constrained) doesn't have the same behavior because the right-most edge of the crop area follows the mouse at all times. Here's a gif I made to illustrate the difference. Marquee tool is the expected behavior.
