Shotster got a reaction from Ezbaze in Why no "Zoom Blur" live filter?
I like to do as much as possible non-destructively, so I was surprised to learn there was no live filter for Zoom Blur. That forced me to merge everything to a new pixel layer and then apply the Zoom Blur from the Filters menu. I was just curious if there was a technical reason it was omitted or if it's just an oversight.
Also, as I recall, this effect is referred to as Radial Blur in Photoshop, so when I discovered that Radial Blur in Affinity Photo was not what I wanted, I almost gave up, thinking Affinity Photo didn't have this feature.
FWIW, "Radial Blur" seems a more apt description of the effect, whereas what Affinity Photo calls "Radial Blur" would IMHO be more aptly named "Circular Blur".

Siri's response:
I guess we should all learn binary and hexadecimal, and learn to program in assembly language.

Shotster got a reaction from Ami_M in Designer: How do I export multiple artboards as individual jpgs/png
I'm not an expert, so this might not be the most efficient way to go about it, but you could define each art board as a slice and then export the slices in one fell swoop. You might want to familiarize yourself with the export persona. You can even specify file naming conventions.

Shotster reacted to walt.farrell in Fill, but not stroke, works on artboard
I think that's a known bug.
Meanwhile, if you look at the Appearance studio panel (View > Studio > Appearance) you can add a second stroke to the artboard, and that one will show up.

Thanks, @walt.farrell, I did see your earlier posts, and they were helpful. The reason it wasn't working for me was this.

Thanks @Alfred, I guess I should take a closer look at the pencil tool instead of the pen tool.

Shotster reacted to kokichi in Smooth tool in Affinity Designer and missing pattern overlay layer in Affinity Photo
Hello,
I am a graphic and web designer using Mac, and I was looking for alternatives to Adobe CC.
After doing some research, I purchased Affinity Designer early this year and recently downloaded Affinity Photo, but I decided to stick to Adobe. I want to tell you why because I like Affinity apps overall and am still hoping to move to Affinity one day.
I found Affinity Designer has good features such as better process on exporting slices, fonts organized by my groups, and a media browser integrated with iPhoto (I like this integration a lot). I’m not a big fan of the process of making an own brush, though.
My overall experience was good until I realized there was no smooth tool. I often make hand-drawings on iPad app and convert them into vector graphics, and the smooth tool is crucial to have.
About Affinity Photo, the lack of pattern overlay layer just makes me not go for it. Everything else so far seems good to me, though.
Adobe cloud library and syncing with Typekit are nice and useful but I can live without them if I have to.
So, the only reasons I will still stick to Adobe for now are those two: missing smooth tool in Affinity Designer and missing pattern overlay layer in Affinity Photo.
I really hope you consider adding these features sometime in the future.
Thank you!
