    Here's a time-lapse of me creating a new comic-style drawing. Mistakes and back-pedalling included.

Hi, it took me a while to figure out that I had to select the color after I had used the color picking tool, if thats what you are missing.

Strangely I was about to start a thread on this, but someone already did it!

The art board alignment thing is a pain in the butt, I think forcing artboards to full pixels is definitely the way to go, I've had my guy working on dozens of banners in one doc, with the export being what it is, is killer. BUUUUuuuut, then having to go back through and nudge all of the boards to export files at the expected size is a bit rubbish.

I'd love you all forever if you'd fix this :D

I would love to be able to add a specific amount of artboards when I create a new document.

I will create a icon set with 50+ icons and its a pain to need to set ut one artboard by itself.

calerius reacted to Inspirimental in Scaling with proportion - When does it happen automatically?
    Hi MEB,
thanks for the quick answer. I was already looking for an option like that, but I guess I did not look closely enough.

I understand the idea of the automatic aspect ration. But the problem is the human mind. When you work on a project, you do not look on the layers palette to understand what kind of layer is selected. The intuitive perception only tells your mind: Object selected and now scale it.
I don't have it intuitively in my head, what layer type has what configuration in terms of aspect ration, even though it makes sense as you describe it.

This a typical problem of what might make sense and what is the human mind ready to understand.
As an interface developer I am always facing this ultimate question.

    Hi Calerius

I read the post with interest as I have had to deploy a similar technique as described by MED and A_B_C. when working on my new set of brush nozzles (icons basically!)

    The workflow I eventually used....

    a. Create the grid as outlined in the linked video (pixels (icon dimension + subdivisions)+Gutter to suite)

    b. Activate Snapping/force Pixel alignment/move by whole pixels

    c. Add artboard if required (but not necessary)

    d. Add layer, name it (for reference [slice Maker]). Then add rectangular shapes with just a neutral fill (no outline) to the exact dimensions of icons required (32x as described) and aligned according to pixel grid; when it came to sizing for me I used a larger size and scaled down using the export persona options (multiple output) once this is set up it saves a lot of time

    e. Sorry Missed something: In pixel Persona navigate to layer/object/groups containing the base rectangles; select all and create slices (Hit create button) should make all in one hit

    f. Go to Pixel Persona and select Layers Tab.Select all rectangle objects (Shift + Click); Click on Make Items Visible on Export' (small eye) to turn off/deactivate

    g. Save you template

This should give you a working re-usable template but you can extend it by setting up the required export options and adding unique names (so files do not get overwritten)

    Helpers:
    Create objects on separate layer

A bit time consuming but if you create an icon on separate layers then name layer according to what is required you can create additional slices from those layers and/or control the naming convention for Persona Output

Once set up use continuous output in Pixel Persona to automatically update changes

You can change size of output/scaling with 0.5x or 0.25x as well as 1x , 2x  etc in export file size option beneath filetype options

DPI can be changed in the popup dialogue box (Click on output filename button)... took me a while to find that one must have been asleep!

    Hope this helps..and I haven't missed anything! :o

    Hi calerius,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
I'm moving this thread to the Feature Requests section. As you have discovered this is not possible in the current version.
    Thanks for your feedback.

Hmm, sounds like some sort of update/replace feature would therefor be needed, so Assets can be updated/exchanged, that way a team could reuse/share common resources. So to say, in a similar manner like a CVS works here. - Well actually there is only delete and reinstall for these and AFAIK possible naming collisions are not considered here.

My team and I have changed from Illustrator to AD and have begun to import all of our assets. Is there any chance that we can expect updates on assets any time soon? We are going to export the asset file every time we make changes, but when we import it this will become it's own category of assets. I would love to have the option to replace the category if it has the same name.

Would also love to be able to change an assets, as I understand it now we would need to delete it from the panel and then create a new one.

It would be awesome if a assets list could be made public and people could subscribe to a list. So if someone/affinity team made a list of current icons in material design, or something else that may change. The update would happen live on everyones list as soon at the owner of the list updated it :)

So to clarify, I don't want to just export the current list in my assets and share on some random site. I want the update to happen live on all the machines that subscribe to the list.
