And that's exactly why Canva made a deal with Serif. With Serif's expertise, Canva also wants to win over professional designers.
If you have little experience in an area, it's easiest to buy this experience rather than spend a lot of time developing it yourself.

lets not make this a dirty witch hunt, okay? we put our concerns here, this came as a shock to everyone, and anyone in this needs to evaluate the new situation for themselves with possible options in either way. this certainly is an emotionally loaded topic, especially for those who depend on the affinity suite for their Job (like me) and feel like they got screwed over out of the blue.
but its not helpful to attack freshly registered users or staff members. keep it civilised. i respect that affinity didnt moderate this thread. usually you would see threads like get wiped from negative comments or completely locked/deleted.
I think the general sentiment and concerns got voiced and now its up to canva where this goes. lets not spiral that into a hatefueled poopstorm - this makes that difficult situation just more toxic for everyone.
I will share my honest constructive feedback as years long pro affinity user in the survey they put out, just for the case i was wrong with my pessimistic view on this ordeal, but im sitting on packed bags because of all the red flags.

To followup on some of my comments yesterday, we are today enshrining our commitment to the Affinity community in 4 pledges made by the Affinity and Canva teams.
You can read about them here.

We do truly believe the coming together of Affinity and Canva is only going to be a good thing for our customers, staff and the development of our apps. We very much hope you will all continue to be with us on this journey.
    All the best,

With the new funds as resources, does this mean people like me who are interested in RTL Languages will be more of a strong reality in the very soon future as opposed to the usual Serif replies of "having to reprogram from the grounds up because RTL language support" is a complex process?
They missed out a huge opportunity to potentially capture the market share in India, Arabic Diaspora, Hebrew, and East Asian (Mandation, Japanese, Etc).
Regardless of this news, can we also remember the company's kindness and understanding during the pandemic? Serif for the longest time discounted their softwares to 50%. Does anyone remember this?
I have privately expressed my grievances towards Affinity and I refuse to upgrade to any of their software until they include the RTL Languages. For my needs, Publisher 1.X has served me well and will continue to do so.
I am a current Adobe CC Photography Plan member and also continue to be perpetual license holder of Capture one 16.3.X. Their Black Friday deal of 50% off the perpetual license was too good to pass up! These fees (to me) are cost of doing business and I'll simply adjust my fees accordingly.
Can we be little bit more optimistic and hopeful?!

I agree. And thats why Canva has 175 millions of users. Who are not professionals. For all that little, repetitive jobs mostly based on templates.
And thats why Canva bought Affinity - to offer something for professionals. That is literally what they are saying too. I dont know what are you arguing with to be honest.

I'm a bit puzzled by what any remaining questions there may be here, but I'll pick out some points raised, comment on them and hope that all the bases are covered.
You bought directly from us on March 12

I believe this is because "it is too advanced for the operating system that (your) Mac can handle" and not anything to do with where it was purchased.

If this is referencing reverting to V1 which I presume it is given the operating system comments above, that would not be possible irrespective of where it was purchased and was answered perfectly by Paul ⤵️

If you are considering buying again in the hopes you will receive a license to use V1, do not. It is not possible to acquire any of our V1 apps in any way since the launch of V2 on November 9th 2022.

Can you highlight this glitch for us so we can take a look?

Clients who buy Affinity (V2) software from anywhere are not able to switch to an earlier (V1) version.

We hope that no one will expect to receive our V1 apps with a V2 purchase especially as there is no mention of V1 on our V2 product pages, that said...

...Anyone reading this in the future who is considering purchasing an Affinity app, please note that you will only receive the items that you add to your cart after completion of the purchase.

Can you please elaborate on this?

Hopefully you already know the answer to this from the comments above but to re-iterate - purchased Affinity Publisher 2 directly from Affinity (again) would not grant you access to any of our V1 apps.

You would not, but we would discourage adding multiple Affinity Store accounts to the confusion.

StevenS reacted to Dan C in What would it take to get Affinity on Linux?
To confirm, I am a moderator of the Affinity Forums - however I'm not a Developer or manager of the Affinity apps, therefore this decision is not mine to make.
I can only provide you with the information we are provided with internally, which I will do my best to summarise below:
As far as I understand, we have no current plans for a Linux version, and no current intention for this to change.
We unfortunately cannot comment on your 'what if' scenarios, as not only would this be purely speculative, any such major shifts in the market would likely require a large overhaul of many software companies, including Affinity - and this isn't something that I believe any company would actively plan for or consider, based on the previous market trends.
I am not aware of any current 'goal' or 'criteria' to achieve before the above changes.
We are currently interested in continuing to improve and update the Affinity apps across Windows, macOS and iPadOS and are not, at this time, looking to develop for the Linux market.
    _________
I do not wish for this post to be seen as a 'definitive answer' as to whether we will, or won't develop for Linux in the future, as this isn't something I can personally say for certain.
As you may have heard before, "You never know what tomorrow brings" and similar to your hypothetical questions in your original post, no one can ever be truly certain of the future and how the ever changing landscape of software development may move our current ideas.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @xKiYoMiNaTiONx.
If the app is failing to recognize the ID/password pair that you’ve entered, make sure that you’re using the same email address as you used when requesting a free trial download, and make sure that you don’t have ‘Caps Lock’ engaged when entering the password. If it still doesn’t work, ask for your password to be reset.

You are welcome to be indifferent.
However users are not welcome to invade and disrupt this community space with direct attacks and criticisms of other users, as that is not the environment we wish to foster here on the Affinity Forums.
If you wish to do this online, I suggest finding a different website.
I encourage you to be more mindful of your own posts contents and spend less time scrutinizing others.
No user of the Affinity Forums importance exceeds another users, and where rules are broken, or threads require intervention, the Affinity team will be sure to step in and correct where necessary.
It is not our users job to shout louder than another user in the hopes of drowning them out, regardless of either users intentions or personal feelings.
If you take issue with a post or threads contents, please report the thread to the moderators and we will investigate further and take action where necessary.
As mentioned above, this is not a commune - this is a private company's website and we reserve the right to approve and remove comments as we see fit.
I personally feel that we apply these rules rather universally and do not tend to favour certain users or dissuade certain converse - though I will be the first to admit that no one person, company or website is perfect and there are likely pitfalls in which we could improve.
Again, I'm sure our team would be happy to engage in such conversation regarding these pitfalls, should reasonable thoughts be presented accurately and without malice, so that we can continue to grow and improve - but another users thread with their feedback for improvements in the Affinity apps is not the place for such discussions.
I recommend not personally concerning yourself with the demographical clientele of the Affinity apps, or the Affinity Forums.
This should only be a concern to Affinity Staff, Managers and Directors, whose job it is to market and sell the Affinity apps.
I cannot speak for other members of the company directly, but as far as I understand we are very happy with the current Affinity userbase, spanning private users, professionals, businesses and education sectors; through our dedicated Business and Education teams.
These dedicated teams have separate support and contact channels outside of the Affinity Forums, meaning most of our 'regular' licensed user base will not have any contact with these staff members and customers, or potentially lack knowledge of their very existence.
This also provides these business and education clientele a direct line of contact with our team, in order to provide feedback and improvements for the Affinity Suite.
For example, many of the recent improvements in handling CAD files and Measurement tools were implemented with help and feedback from Architecture firms directly - none of which is present here on the Affinity Forums.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, though, what of the 'non-serious' clients? Does the 'regular' user not deserve an application they enjoy using, which fulfils their needs?
Do they not deserve a friendly, community atmosphere where they can share the designs they've created, or discuss the best editing options for their family holiday photos?
As much as we cater for the professional market and have made considerable strides towards breaking requirements for subscription-based services for many of these professionals - it would be remiss to pretend that the Affinity apps are not also enjoyed and used by 'non-professionals', who pay exactly the same amount for a singular license and therefore have as much weight in the conversation when discussing their desires for the Affinity apps moving forward.
    ___
I am consciously aware that further discussions here in this thread relating to the above subjects would be in direct contradiction to my earlier request of keeping threads on topic - therefore I ask that this does not continue further here.
You are welcome to create your own thread for such discussions if you wish, provided they remain civil and at least Affinity app/Forum related, they should not be removed by our team.

You can use it yourself on as many computers as you own or control. Of course, all of them must be macOS or all of them must be Windows or all must be iPad, unless you purchase the Universal license.
Yes, if or when V3 is released that will be a separate purchase, from what we know now. And we have no idea when that might happen. It could be several years from now.

Hi and welcome to the forums, @KYKYKYKYKYKY1122
You must use the account details you used when purchasing from the Microsoft Store.
You will find a button labeled Library in the Store app.
On the right there is a drop-down button "Sort and filter".
In this list there is a selection point "Show only installed products"; here the check mark must be removed.
You should now be able to find Affinity Designer again.

You should still be able to download your V1 purchases from your account in the Apps app on your iPad, assuming you're using the same Apple ID as on your old machine.
    More in this FAQ:

As for V2: If you want to use V2 you need to purchase a license for those applications, as they are licensed separately from the V1 applications.

It is the hope that users will know which email address they used for their Affinity Forum account, can double-check the email themselves for typos and should they continue to have issues signing in, will contact us directly for further advice.

The upgrade path that is offered is from any number of V1 apps to our Universal Licence. We do not offer an upgrade path for single apps.
We do have discounts sporadically throughout the year however the Black Friday discount has historically offered the largest discount (unique instance discounts excluded).
The Universal Licence includes all three of our apps on all three operating systems that we create apps for (MacOS, Windows, iPadOS).

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
The Serif staff will be able to look at your account (if it uses the same email you used to register for the forum) and tell, but that description it seems like you only purchased the Mac version of V1 from the Affinity Store. If you actually used the retail version of V1 on your Windows system, perhaps you purchased it from the Microsoft Store instead of the Affinity Store.
If you did purchase from Microsoft, you can still download it from your Microsoft Store Account. This FAQ will provide more information about doing that:
If you used a different email address for this forum account, and for your Affinity Store account, you should probably email affinity@serif.com and ask privately, so you don't have to expose your email addresses here publicly.
