  1. I believe that I have identified a simple sequence of steps in APB that will consistently reproduce this problem.

    1) Open a jpg image.

    2) Click to activate the perspective tool and make some perspective adjustment. Opening the tool is not enough by itself. Some adjustment, no matter how small, most be made.

    3) Either press the Return key or Click on Apply in the Perspective dialog box.

    4) Try to Save the file, either by pressing Cmd-S or using File -> Save.

    5) See the dialog box.

  2. I am posting this here because I am not sure if there is time, given all of the work going on now, for anyone to look through new posts in the Fixed section of the bug report forum. Some time ago I posted a thread there about a request to flatten an already flattened image. This was not a new issue but had been around for some time,  but appeared to have disappeared before it reappeared. The previous thread is here:

10 days ago Andy posted this comment:

We have now fixed this bug. The fix will be made available in the next beta build.

I don't know if this fix ever made its way into either a beta or an RC release but, if it did, the problem is back again.

Here is a screen shot of a jpg loaded into RC3. As the History shows the image has had a perspective adjustment and been cropped so no layers have been added and, as you can also see, there is only the background layer. Nonetheless an attempt to Save the image resulted in the flatten request. Accepting the flatten option did not prevent the same message from appearing again if I tried to Save again. Document -> Flatten also did not prevent the same message from appearing when I tried, again, to do a Save. These are exactly the same characteristics that led to me making the original post.

All image processing was done on my MBP on its SSD so this does not involve image processing on an external disc.

If this belongs back in the bug forum, please move it there. If my post on that thread from earlier today indicating that the problem still exists has been noted, please feel free to delete this post as I only want to make sure someone sees it. I am reasonably sure I can reproduce this issue at will so I can probably also provide a file showing this problem if someone wishes me to do so.

  3. Suppose I create a selection and then save it to the spare channel, then delete the current pixel selection on the screen and create a new pixel selection on the screen. I now have one selection saved in the spare channel and another one on the screen. If I then go to the spare channel and right-click I am offered the option of "Add to pixel selection". What does this add do? Add the screen selection to the one in the spare channel? Or add the one in the spare channel to the current one on the screen? Or both? Or something completely different?

    Thank you.

  4. The installation for RC3 warns that it will reset all of your settings, just as the RC2 installation did. However, after installing RC3, I found that I had not lost any of my settings. The Tools were exactly the same as before the installation, the Open Recent list was not blank and everything else appeared to be as before.

Perhaps the warning is not needed? Oh, and by the way, that is a very nice new logo.

  5. Just downloaded RC3 and the first test I did was to see if my exif issue was addressed. Loaded a raw image with gps information into RC3, did some adjusting (the Develop Persona adjustments seem to have been improved) and exported it as a jpg. This was done on an external disc, as were my previous tests.

The exported jpg now contains exif. Yea!

The export jpg exif does not contain any gps information. Uh Oh!

  6. Hi Mike,

It will show you a map with a pin - the pin is where the shot was taken (if the data is available).

It also allows you to click to set the pin location :)

I've not looked a Houdah so I could not comment as to whether or not the Location feature is comparable - but yes, it can set GPS metadata on any type of image.

It's worth noting that the Location panel will only be available on OS X 10.9 and above, because it uses the MapKit API.

    Hope this helps,

    Andy.

Yes. Thank you. Will it be available at launch? Or sometime later?

  7. Hi Mike,

Installing a new RC build will clear the list - as will holding Ctrl and resetting AP during run up..

    Maybe this was the cause?

    Thanks,

    Andy.

    Andy,

No. I was using RC2 to do my photo editing. After the RC2 install the Open Recent list was clear, but it was not when I finished editing last evening. However I did move some of my edited images and was thinking that perhaps APB removes items from the Open Recent list when it restarts if they are not longer at their original locations.

  8. I opened RC2 this morning and, much to my surprise, the Open Recent list did not contain any items. Yesterday, while I was doing image processing, the Open Recent list contained about a half-dozen items, but this morning it was empty. I did not manually clear it.

There was an issue many weeks ago concerning the Open Recent list clearing itself and I was wondering if that has come back again. Alternately, what action does APB if images listed in the Open Recent list are no longer at their original location? Perhaps that is what is happening on my system since I cleaned some of my images yesterday evening.

    Thank you.

  9. There are a couple of answers to your questions.

First, you have to enter the paths containing your plugin folders in the  Plugins Search Folders section of the Preferences -> Photoshop Plugins dialog box. You clearly have already done this or you would not have your plugins showing up in your Filters menu item.

Next you have to enter the support path for those plugins in the Plugin Support Folders section of the same dialog box. As a general rule we have been told to use the / path since the proper path may differ for individual plugins.

This should allow you to be able to call your plugins and they may (or may not) work. Plugin support is still an ongoing effort and it has been hit-or-miss. Personally I find that I can call my Topaz plugins and some of them work and some of them do not work. However there is an update coming which we have been assured by the developers will fix the plugin issues. I believe that they have been concentrating on core editor functionality and leaving some of the other functionality to the end. I am reasonably sure that they will have it fully working in the next RC release or the one after that so I expect full functionality within the next week to 10 days. Note, however, that I am only a user, not a Serif developer or forum moderator so I may be wrong about the date for full functionality.

Whatever else, the developers have been so good about getting stuff fixed that I am confident that this will be addressed quickly as well. Hope this is of some help.

  10. I have been trying some new functionality and finally got to the ability to save a selection to a spare channel. That seemed like a very good idea since it saves me the trouble of creating and then deleting a file, but is it really supposed to work like this?

I selected the sky, saved the selection to the spare channel, deleted the selection, did some adjusting and then right-clicked on the spare channel. I then selected Load To Pixel Selection and, as expected, the selection showed up on the image.

I then adjusted the sky and inverted the selection (Select -> Invert Pixel Selection) and the "marching ants" changed to the ground as expected. However, when I tried to make another adjustment it affected the sky as though it was still selected. The inverse changed the "marching ants" but not the actual selection.

I know I can invert the selection by right-clicking on the Pixel Selection channel and selecting the proper entry, and I know that works as it should, but shouldn't the Select -> Invert Pixel Selection do the same thing?

Is it supposed to work like this? I assume this is a bug but, since it is new functionality to me, I thought I would post before filing a bug report.

  11. Yes Mike,

It will be one of the last things we do before release though - it's an open ended task and our first effort will support as many of the most popular plugins as possible - but it will evolve constantly as more plugin makers get involved and we make further improvements to AP.

Thank you. I realize that there are a great many plugins out there and that the effort required will be substantial.

I asked out of curiosity. After finding out what the issue was with my lack of exif information (and I assume that was the answer) my other concerns can wait until the developers get to them in their mountain of work. As far as I am concerned APB is ready to go.

  12. Hi Mike, this was just a minor update to correct a few things (it's not an usual practise). If you already installed the latest one (26124), keep using it, otherwise just wait to the next update (RC2).

Anything important enough for me to do the install? Or just crash fixes? I have not yet installed it as I wanted to be sure it should be installed before I actually did it.
