sportyguy209 got a reaction from Carolyncc in Copy/Move Page to Different Document?
I have an Affinity Publisher document and would like to move multiple pages from another AP document or a pdf into it. It would be nice if I could drag a series of pages from one document into the other.
The only way I can see adding the pages is manually, one at a time. Am I missing an easier way?
Thanks

@deebz
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
Thanks for your suggestion. What how would you expect the text to wrap/clip near the rounded corners?

I don't think it supports this at all for other third party vector file formats. - BTW, it also can't interpret and doesn't parse the SVG "textPath" command, so that's also no option here.
A small SVG example ...
<?xml version="1.0" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg width="12cm" height="3.6cm" viewBox="0 0 1000 300" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <defs> <path id="MyPath" d="M 100 200 C 200 100 300 0 400 100 C 500 200 600 300 700 200 C 800 100 900 100 900 100" /> </defs> <desc>Example - simple text on a path</desc> <use xlink:href="#MyPath" fill="none" stroke="red" /> <text font-family="Verdana" font-size="42.5" fill="blue" > <textPath xlink:href="#MyPath"> We go up, then we go down, then up again </textPath> </text> </svg> textpath.svg ... which at least every webbrowser engine usually should be able to showup.

sportyguy209 reacted to MEB in PNG Export size (for web)
Hi joro_abv,
Currently we don't perform any type of optimisation (specifically for web) when exporting files.
I know there's improvements planned to the Export Persona (realtime previews etc) but i can't say for sure if they will also include any file export optimisations for now.
I'm moving this thread to the Feature Requests section.

sportyguy209 reacted to MCFC_4Heatons in How do I resize a selection marquee?
It would be very useful and intuiitive to have resize handles on a marquee selection, I appreciate the transform panel gives a precise resize option, but dragging to resize can be more helpful depending on what you are working with and trying to achieve.

Just wanted to offer some user feedback here. I'm a long time Photoshop user attempting to switch to Affinity Photo, as I am a software engineer and not a full time graphics professional.
I just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get those 'resize handles' showing up, and kept thinking that I must be an idiot.
Hearing that it doesn't exist is tough. It's one of the most useful features I used in photoshop.
It's actually almost enough to put me over the edge from not making the jump to Affinity.
I'd highly recommend reconsidering the decision not to implement that.

1. create a empty layer
2. draw selection with marquee
3. select Move tool(V)
4. transform the selection
5. select Marquee tool(M) again
6. select any layer you want

Come on Serif, you’ve implemented every other request, Photo and Designer are sooooo freakin’ close to being everything the disgruntled Adobe user needs and wants, we are all waiting for this little tweak. A slider, to change the guide colours is ESSENTIAL. Any project that’s predominantly blue is just not possible if you can’t see the guides. Please please please add this.

sportyguy209 reacted to Wosven in Change guide color?
+1
I had to use a colour adjustement layer to work on a background of the same blue as the guides and frames, or I wouldn't have been able do distinguish them.

Don't make us beg. It seems silly to leave this feature out for so long. I'm working on an image in a blue key with lots of gradient. In some places I have to mostly guess where the guide is... even when zooming way in.
Please bump this up on the feature request list.

It is 2018 and still no way to change Guides color or thickness. I find them hard to see in many cases

Hi Luminaire
Not at the moment, but it has been requested before and we hope it will be available in a future update. :)

Is it possible to change the color of the guides?

sportyguy209 reacted to CommiePinko in Change guide color?
Nearly four years after the initial post, folks are still begging for this simple feature offered by every other app in my arsenal that uses guides of any kind. May I politely suggest that someone, somewhere within Affinity attempt a primarily pale blue project? It's simply impossible. Whether or not I can use AP is determined by the color of the project. It's absurd.

sportyguy209 reacted to F+C in Change guide color?
It does seem odd - I can't imagine that it's that hard a feature to add.
Affinity is very frustrating - I really want to love their stuff but it always just falls short of truly professional applications.
I think the big issue is their programmers have never really worked in a production industry role - the kind of "crap, I have to get 10 ads out by 5pm and sent to San Francisco" kinda world. they probably look at our requests and think "why the hell would you want that?". Us old industry folks know why we need them.
I think they're going for the pro sumer market, which is a shame but perhaps a bigger market than trying to appeal to Advertising, Marketing agencies and printers.
I think someone will go after the same market as Adobe CS, but probably won't be $70!

If rolling back to 1.7.3 is an option for you, the Boolean subtract there works for your example with Chalkduster font.

"Subtract" you mean Erase blend mode? It works well for me.

It also seems to swallow parts with Add ...
geometry curved chalkdust.m4v
Possibly it is related to these subtract issues ...
The trick with Alt + Subtract mentioned here at the end seems not to work for the 'Kidzee' sample above.

In Photo, you can switch to using the Quick Mask, then use the Move Tool to manipulate the selected area. This works for any selection, not just that from one of the Marquee selection tools. You can also use other tools while you are using the Quick Mask to further manipulate the selection. See attached video for some examples.

Any way to rearrange the order of rows and columns of tables?
If not, it would be highly appreciated. Given how time consuming it would be to do so manually.

Thanks. Good workaround!

sportyguy209 reacted to DegasBrush in Change guide color?
Hi guys, yes having color/type control that you have in AI would be great! BUT.. you realise there is a work around that I tried today?
Create a style for line weight and color.... even blend modes/opacity if you needed the guides to be somewhat transparent..then just set a new layer as a guides layer and use shapes and line tool for guides using snap to elements etc in the snapping settings... if anything that's probably a bit more flexible than the current way it is.
One thing I did like about Illustrator was the ability to make shapes into actual guide objects.
Anyway that was my thoughts..
Cheers

sportyguy209 got a reaction from Wosven in Text Frame palette improvement request
Hello Carl123:
Thanks, perfect! Yes, that sounds like a workaround that will work. 🙂
But, as I said previously, if Affinity can provide fill options with percentages in some dialog boxes, they should make them available in all of them. I hope they are working on adding them.
-
sportyguy209 reacted to carl123 in Text Frame palette improvement request
If there's a specific need to set a precise percentage fill for a text frame it can be done but you just have to do it another way for now.
1. Create a Rectangle
2. in the color Panel set the Fill to the color and percentage you want
3. Layer > Convert to Text Frame
You can save the resulting Text Frame to assets if need be and rename it so you know what percentage Opacity was used.
