  1. Yeah, I think the thing that Walt mentioned was the thing I was thinking about, I just got Studio and UI mixed up. Good to know you’ve managed to get it fixed either way.
  2. Welcome to the forums @Tygyzzy As mentioned above, there’s no such thing as “Google Affinity” and the Affinity applications are not available from Google. Also, Serif – who make the Affinity applications – only charge once for each purchase and there are no subscription fees. If you are being repeatedly charged by someone then it’s probably not Serif doing it and, if so, there’s probably not much that Serif can do about it. See the post above by Alfred about possible scams.
  3. Applying a Style can add all kinds of stuff to a layer and it’s sometimes difficult to remove everything, especially if you don’t know what has been added. You might find it more convenient to select the layer and use the “Revert defaults” button on the Toolbar instead. Having said all of that, Undo should undo what was done so you could have found something that has been overlooked.
  4. If you are using Photo (you don’t say which Affinity application you are using but I can see Photo’s Layers Panel in your screen-grab) the settings for Adjustment Layers can be saved as Presets which can then be applied via the Adjustment Panel – see attached image. This is possibly more convenient than saving them as Assets. (I don’t know what has gone wrong with what you are doing – such small screen-grabs are often not as useful as full-screen screenshots as we are missing a lot of potentially useful information.)
  5. Welcome to the forums @john-in-cornwall Tool tips are the little boxes that appear when you hover over a UI item for a little while that tell you what the button (etc.) is for, what you seem to have lost is the Status Bar. I’m not seeing the same problem on Windows 10 so it could be something to do with your particular machine/application set-up. Have you tried using menu “Window → Studio → Reset Studio”? (I think this can sometimes happen if you use “Hide Studio” and then reinstate the bits of the Studio manually rather than toggling “Hide Studio” off again.)
  6. Once a Style has been created it cannot be changed. You will need to make a new Style to include the modifications you made if you want to apply the new formatting to something else as a Style. I don’t have the “Retro Style Plain” Style so I cannot see how it was created to give advice as to how to only use part of it, e.g. the texture only.
  7. My little Canny Vectors app has just passed the 5,000 acquisitions ‘marker’ in the Microsoft Store which, while not being a massive number, is great for something that has only been mentioned in these forums. Thanks to anyone who has passed on a recommendation to a friend/colleague/enemy/stranger/etc. Thanks also to anyone who has posted a nice review/rating in the store too. Looking forward to making it to 10,000.
  8. Interestingly, in, for example, Designer 2.3.0 (and 1.10.6) on Windows, the keyboard shortcut for “Zoom In” is listed in the Help as being “Ctrl and +” whereas the default is actually “Ctrl and =”. Is “Ctrl and +” actually meaningful since “+” is (on my keyboard at least) obtained via Shift (over “=”)? Or, to put it another way, would "Ctrl and +" actually mean "Ctrl and Shift and ="? Either way, “Ctrl and =” zooms in on my machine.
  9. Ah, that would explain it. I can’t see anything obvious from your screenshot: the Blend Mode of the Tool is Normal; the Colour has 100% Opacity; the layer has 100% Opacity, is visible, and has a Normal Blend Mode; Protect Alpha is OFF. Hardness is at 0% but that might not be relevant. The only thing that pops into my head at the moment is: Which brush are you using? Can you click on the brush icon in the Layers Panel, the one for the Pixel Layer, and get another screenshot so we can get a little ‘preview’ of it? An expert will probably be along later to give you better advice.
  10. Formatting the border on a table can be a little tricky at first but you soon get used to it after a while. I’ve attached a short video showing the sorts of things you can do; watch the order in which I do things as it’s important – select the cells; then select the 'context' (which borders of the cell selection you want to format); then set the formatting. 2023-12-28 14-46-02.mp4
  11. @Camerajockey You have posted an image without any explanation into a thread which has been ‘dormant’ for about a year. Did you do this on purpose? If so, would you mind saying what that purpose was?
  12. If you have a table on a master page then, as far as I understand things, you can only format the table in the master page – in other words, you cannot have different formatting for the same table on different ‘normal’ pages. To (temporarily) inhibit the display of the guides you can either toggle menu “View → Show Guides” or press the “Preview Mode” button (only available in Publisher) on the Toolbar. If this doesn’t answer your questions then a full-screen screenshot showing us what you can see would be helpful.
  13. A possible additional issue here could be that your document units are in Points (see the Transform Panel) but you are exporting with dimensions measured in Pixels (see the Export Dialog). If you know you want pixel-perfect exports then I would recommend using a document UOM of Pixels so you can more easily make sure that everything is nicely aligned to the pixel grid. See attached example where my line is aligned to integer points and is of an integer point width but, when I show the Pixel Grid and view the document in Pixel View Mode, you can see that nothing is ‘nicely aligned’.
  14. Welcome to the forums @neurofanatic And thanks for providing a solution to your own problem; by doing so you might help other people who come here looking for the same solution. It’s worth noting that, when you use the Path Text functionality, the software automatically converts the path – in your case a circle – to a Frame Text layer, so that it can contain the text. (The Help says that the original path is “discarded” but that’s not absolutely true.) However, since neither Designer nor Photo have a Text Frame Panel – from where you can control the properties of Frame Text layers – the properties of the path (circle) become ‘fixed’ at that point and the only way you have to change them is to use the Revert Defaults button as you have done. Publisher has a Text Frame Panel so it’s not a problem in that application. However, it’s normal for Designer and Photo to remove the formatting from the path when you use the Path Text functionality, and it probably shouldn’t add any colour itself. Since you are also asking why all of your new Frame Text Layers get the same fill colour I’m guessing that, at some point, somehow, you managed to get a Frame Text layer with a fill colour and so, because the software automatically gives new Frame Text layers the same properties as the last one, this is probably what happened – the path was converted to a Frame Text layer and it ‘took on’ the properties of the last Frame Text layer. (Was the document edited in Publisher at any point?) Personally I think this last point may possibly be a bug, or at least unexpected behaviour most of the time from my point of view, and I think it has been discussed elsewhere in the forums. I hope some of this helps you to understand what happened.
  15. I think I would expect the stroke to just ‘keep growing’ around the shape (similar to what the Outline Effect does) but what it looks like it’s doing is, when the stroke size gets to a certain value, it’s almost like the part of the stroke starts to be ‘subtracted from the inside of itself’. As if some of the geometry of the stroke is being removed, or the values are becoming less accurate because the numbers are somehow getting too small to be retained/calculated accurately. There’s something strange happening even if I can’t explain it.
  16. In the little bit of testing that I’ve just done, this seems to happen when the width of the stroke exceeds a value which is half of the largest dimension of the shape. i.e. On a shape which is 20×100pt, the effect is noticeable when the stroke width goes a little bigger than 50pt. It seems to happen with all of the shapes I’ve tried, and while using different UOMs. I think it may be because the software is trying to calculate a stroke which ‘goes back in on itself’ once the stroke has gone ‘past halfway’ because it’s so large compared to the shape (that’s a terrible explanation but I’m not great with geometry so I don’t know the correct terms). It looks wrong to me but I’m not entirely sure what I would expect otherwise.
  17. Welcome to the forums @EMPEROR PROVIDENCE The DPI of a document can be changed, in different ways, to values of more than 300 so I’m not sure what you are suggesting. Can you give us more details about the problem you are having, preferably with full-screen screenshots where appropriate. Designer does not have plug-in capabilities. If you want to request that it does so, you should look for an existing thread – in the “Feedback & Suggestions” section of the forums – which also requests this and ‘add your voice’ to that thread, or create a new thread if there isn’t already one.
  18. Confirmed in Photo 2.3.0 on Windows 10. However, the value does update in the UI, in real time, if you drag from the Width label rather than dragging the slider. Not a fix, just a possible alternative until it's fixed.
  19. That seems like an unusual requirement to me. What if the entire cover was created without using any fonts? Would they reject it?
  20. The History is only saved with the document if you have “Save History With Document” checked in the File menu. If you open a document and there is no History then that menu item was probably not checked when the document was last saved.
  21. If you have told Windows to open JPEGs in Photo and they are opening in Photo when double-clicked in File Explorer but not when you try to open them when they are an attachment in Outlook then I’m out of decent ideas at the moment. Have you tried restarting your machine, just in case some setting or other needs to be dropped from a cache and ‘woken up’ in its new state?
  22. What is the problem that you are trying to overcome by embedding the font?
  23. I don’t know if you can do it without using the Section Manager but the document I attached in this thread might help: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/196367-how-do-i-suppress-page-numbers/
  24. My attached document should help. Note that the master page was only applied to the right-hand side of pages 4-5, and then the whole spreads of the subsequent pages. page-numbers-start-later.afpub
